Just because I’m critical of Quinn doesn’t mean I’m calling for Arch. This is what is fucking tearing this fan base apart. We can want Quinn to play better without calling for Arch. People like you turn it into something it’s not and it takes away from the football aspect of the discussion by making it personal.

Quinn is QB1, he’s taking the snaps on a team that’s going where we want to go in back to back playoff appearances. But I’m gonna call it out when he throws a bad pass behind the receiver on a 4th down. I’m also gonna eat shit when I thought a shitty throw to Helm turned out to be money when someone else on this thread posted the throw from a different camera angle. THIS IS WHY WE POST HERE. We want to talk about football even if it’s not all sunshine pumping about Quinn that some people want to hear.

We get that title with Quinn and we’re gonna have to start making those heads on Mt. Rushmore into totem poles and just start stacking our legends on top of each other’s heads. Imagine Sark and this team turning the conversation from “who’s on UT’s Mt. Rushmore” into “who’s head should be on the bottom or top of our Mt. Rushmore” because we keep yelling at each other’s buttholes about which QB had the better championship. What a fucking football life we are about to live. Yippie ki-yay motherfuckers!

Yes ,

I am an old codger that went to my first Texas game as a five year old in 1960.

I have seen some things.

But I will tell you our program has never been in a better place than it is right now in my entire life.

What I don’t get is why he’s only the #5 rated qb draft prospect in this class.

He's smallish, not tiny.  He's injury prone.  He has a defective deep ball and he's a statue in the NFL.  He has positive attributes like a good short to intermediate game, he's started a lot of games so should be able to read defenses well, he has numerous arm angles he can throw from and he's coachable.  However, besides a live but not particularly huge arm, he's not much of a physical specimen.  He'll run poorly too, which isn't he biggest deal but just another thing.

Absolutely cooked a clemson team in first round of CFP and all of you are in here talking about Quinn instead of talking about either the game or ASU.

WTF

We’re talking about whether we should put Quinn’s head at the bottom or top of our Texas Mt. Rushmore totem pole since we’re gonna have to start stacking those heads pretty soon.

after watching the game a third time today, theres a lot of room for quinn to get better. one area i would like to see him improve on is cutting off the 8 thumbs of all of his receivers.  you can hit them while they are standing still in the chest for the to hand the ball to the other team.  quinn has to get that under control.

also, sark if you throw that fucked up slow ass turn your back on the defense screen play ever again i will scream.

Sark's been setting the table the whole season with that play. We'll run something that starts out looking like that play, the defense will bite, and then it will be BOOM! so long it's been good to know ya, sayonara etc ....

You might not be cut out for Surly if you can’t handle some criticism about Quinn. You’re the one who kept saying the OL was “tripping” Quinn when he was falling over his own feet earlier in the season. When you got called out on it with proof, you deflected and turned it into a tirade about how everyone hates Quinn. Nobody hates Quinn, they are just calling a spade a spade. I can admit when I’m wrong about my Quinn takes, but you can’t and you double down by throwing everyone else on the team under the bus. Have some respect for the game and own up to your bad takes once in a while. It would stop this thread from becoming a battle between sides when all we want is for it to be a discussion about Quinn’s play.

You are clearly disturbed that I don't share your same views about Quinn. He gets too much criticism and blame in this thread with few defenders until recently. Making shit up about me isn't helping your narrative. Anyone can go back and see what was posted. I encourage them to do that. I have pointed out and or agreed about Quinn bad plays and errors multiple times. That's a fact Jack. We may disagree on who was responsible for some of the errors but I won't sit here and throw everything at the feet of QE. The QB is the most important position of the team but it still takes a team.

Bobby and Gerry mentioned in a video today about how part of the fanbase was turning this situation into Simms 2.0. I AM NOT part of that and I won't keep my mouth shut so you and others tear him down with unwarranted criticism. He has represented himself and the University well since his arrival and has been a vital part of the turnaround of this program. He deserves to be treated better. Arch will have his time, that time isn't now.

Anytime a TE pass blocks it bound to be an adventure.

Passing numbers make sense. Quinn threw some more deep, but a lot PI in this game. Texas didn’t ask much of Ewers. That is the way it goes when you threaten 300 on the ground

Not surprised by the Clemson numbers. They abused the LBs and slot. Jahdae moved over to NB for a bit. That is when they went after Manny. I just have respect for the output Klubnick had given how little help he had (0 run game) and who he did it against. Tough to play QB and take something like 20 hits in a game

This is the statement I don't get right here. We played Georgia last game and we ran for 58 yards at 2.6 yards per carry as far as backs are concerned. Clemson ran for 71  at over 6 yards per carry as far as backs are concerned. Their offense barely had any penalties and as a team they had 5 for 65 yards. Our offense had quite a few holding calls and as a team we had 11 for 94 yards. Klubnik operates out of a sideline to sideline, QB friendly, 4 wide offense, with better receivers than we have that simply just doesn't run the ball much. Quinn operates out of a ball control offense that asks him to save us in long yardage situations after it gets itself in trouble not being able to run. These are the 3rd down situations for both QBs. We won't put names on them.

3rd and 3    3rd and 1

3rd and 3    3rd and 2

3rd and 4    3rd and 3

3rd and 4    3rd and 4

3rd and 5    3rd and 5

3rd and 5    3rd and 6

3rd and 5    3rd and 7

3rd and 9  3rd and 7

3rd and 10  3rd and 7

3rd and 10  3rd and 14

3rd and 14  3rd and 15

3rd and 14  3rd and 16

3rd and 15

3rd and 15

3rd and 17

3rd and 22

3rd and 26

3rd and 27

6-18 rate     3-12 rate

Which list performed better on 3rd down? 6-18 is Quinn.

Given the situations and what kind of offenses they both operate in, how do you come to such a wildly different conclusion? If we don't drop a TD pass and miss two field goals Klubnik scored 24 and Ewers scores 29. Both against relatively equal defenses. Klubnik threw for 332 and Quinn for 358. Then you can go back and look at how Klubnik performed vs Georgia. 18-29 142 yards and 1 interception. They had 66 yards rushing and were 4-14 on 3rd downs scoring 3 points total. 3 total points. I honestly don't get it. From my perspective I saw TWO quarterbacks who didn't play perfect, but both were doing everything they could to keep their team in it. You other guys see one guy who played great and the other guy who played shitty even though the output is roughly the same.

So, unless the clip posted has a really bad view, that free rusher was one of the DT spies and he was nearly 5yds away when Quinn threw that. He did reach and he also employed his 18” vertical to try for the ball after it went by. In a discussion about qb in the game, it’s not our job to look for positives and encourage them or their confidence. They’ve got coaches, teammates and parents for that. This is a message board.

5 yards isn't that far away. A lower trajectory ends with us coming to the Quinn thread and bitching about another tipped ball interception. Always best to avoid that if possible. Also, this fanbase should know more than any other fanbase that grumblings reach far and wide and end up affecting the team directly. Confidence is everything in sports. Everyone has 10 fingers and 10 toes. What separates the good ones is mental. Nothing you can do worse to a player than kill their confidence. I can tell you from behind the scenes that Quinn is not having a good time here. The backup QB can do no wrong at all as far as the fans are concerned. No one appreciates the guy even though he could go down as the best QB in our lifetimes depending on what happens the rest of the way. That has to be mentally exhausting. Dude is coming up on a lot of records even though dude has only played 3 years and missed games each year. People are ready to push him out even though the dude has played in two conference championships, won one, is in his second straight playoff and has every chance to win the NC. Crazy to think about.
