Posted this in another thread but some guy on the radio said “Allar could be the #1 pick if he came out now?  Why take the chance in 2026 in the arch manning draft?”

I will confess I haven't watched a ton of Penn State football this season, but when I did watch him Allar looked like warmed ass.  (Mostly against Oregon and SMU.)

Do you really think Arch is coming out after next year?

Nothing I've seen leads me to believe that will be the case.

In Quinns defense he Beck had a much better run threat at RB and a better run blocking scheme. Flip side is all the drops Beck had by WRs. Beck also had that smoke show Miami volleyball (?) player to keep entertained and you can't hold that against him but it would have been a factor when I was 21.

The injury history is what I think will scare GMs the most about Quinn.

Etienne is good. He has missed 3 games and been banged up for a handful of others. He would definitely start for Texas. That said Texas has run the ball better than Georgia this year.

@HenryJames and others are adamant that he isn’t.  But the national media, including Mel kiper are enamored with him.  When Mel talks this years qb class he always ends every analysis was “do you grab a qb this year or wait till next year?  There’s no guarantee Arch Manning will even come out”

i don’t know shit about fuck.  I know the Mannings are rich and very prudent.  Arch is making money already. The Mannings seem to be proponents of having 25+ starts before declaring.  But, the right situation, I could see him leaving

Spin this however you want buddy. But here are the numbers:

Screenshot_20250104_124749_Chrome.thumb.jpg.f72d434da5022affa782175074b58f43.jpgScreenshot_20250104_125123_Chrome.thumb.jpg.c5b9af5e4f620890b323e65345576832.jpg

It's not about spinning just watch the two play. For example in our first meeting Beck never got touched in the pocket and still threw us 3 wtf interceptions. There was a stretch of games where he was just throwing the ball to anybody multiple times a game. 3 vs Bama, 2 vs Miss St, 3 vs us, 3 vs Florida, 1 vs Ole Miss, just trying to lose games like he was on the take.

Again, most of Quinn's INTs you can see what he was trying to do. 5 batted balls at the line. Oklahoma he throws high on the dig to Bond who was wide open he just missed. Wrong shoulder to Bond who deflects in the air. Yesterday he put too much air on the ball but a decent read right? Those aren't wtf throws. A wtf throw is the throw in the first meeting where Quinn doesn't know it's zone and the DB jumps it. Those are the kind of throws Beck and Milroe have regularly and say you can't read coverage. Quinn also missed two and a half games vs the easiest teams on our schedule where he would've padded his stats. Carson Beck got 9 TDs and 550 yards from Tenn Tech and UMass.

As soon as you see me post here you guys come with dumb arguments that if anyone else said the same thing you'd be in agreement with.

OTF brought up a good point today. Who on the Texas offense is elite? Of course Kelvin Banks but that isn't a position to create explosive plays. It is more about skill position. How many did we have last year? Scatterbitch from ASU is an elite college player. Interesting thought when you think about the struggles on offense. I would say the last half of the season Golden might be in that category. Our running backs don't make people miss. Helm is the best at yards after contact. Who had that on their bingo card?

Quinn's lack of elite complements can be overstated, but it is real. I don't want to speak ill of our RB room, but the dropoff from Bijan -> Brooks -> finally Wisner as starter has been a massive problem. We should always have a guy at RB that everyone else is jealous of and we just don't have that at all. WR room is also a dip and TE is debatable.

Blue and Wisner were always supposed to be change of pace/boutique backs IMHO.

We desperately need a healthy explosive Bond and reliable explosive Blue.

Healthy Bond isn't happening. He should have been set down long ago till he got healthy. His speed would help all other receiver by opening up the middle for the likes of Helm and others.

Instead, Bond is a non-factor mostly now, what a waste.

For what we need and what he brings, Golden is elite.  He’s open short.  He’s open deep.  He catches balls that many don’t.  Our first play of the game.  He separated then made a move.  The 4th and 13 was a great route.  The 2 pointer was great hands.

Depends on the game. You watch the Big 10 Championship and you say damn. Then you watch SMU game and it’s damn in a completely different way. That is why this QB class is considered so poor. None of these guys are consistent

Blue having a big run or 2 would be huge. I would say J Brooks is the guy Texas misses the most from last year. He was money 1 on 1 vs a safety. Even last year the run game was inconsistent down to down. The difference this year is when it’s blocked well Texas is generally getting 7-12 (OU and Clemson games being the exception). Opposing safeties are winning those 1 on 1s more times than not. Brooks would make those  20-30 or hit his head on the goal post.

Strongly disagree. Your simple take is just that simplton. It comes down to Sark putting together a game plan to address the issues Texas has at various positions. That's was a guru is supposed to do. Recognize his teams weakness and strengths, align them against the opponents weaknesses and strengths exploit their weaknesses while limiting ours.

Yes, our players absolutely have to execute at a high level. Not JUST oline, but ALL of them and it starts with QB.

The 2 most important positions in the game of football are Head coach and Quarterback.

That's championship caliber play. This is where the rubber hits the road. OSU is the biggest threat left, and they are peaking right now. It's time for Sark and Quinn to earn their money.

the weakest link on this team

Olines don't magically go from mediocre run blocking and solid pass blocking to great run blocking in 10 days.

We are facing the second best or best D we've faced next to Georgia.

The coach has to plan around reality and not hope the players suddenly be strong at something they haven't been to this point.

He's not, but he's throwing to a couple of guys that are. And sometimes that can be enough.

I'm not saying we're fucked, but those WR's give him a lot more margin for error than most.

This. Pass to set up the run.

RPO

Make them throw the ball.

How exactly that is accomplished is why Sark makes millions. He need to get it done.

These are the games you dream of and that ultimately live on in legacy or remorse forever.

This is why I love sports and specifically college football.

This is what it's all about.

Strong to say Oregon doesn’t have a pulse. Believe they were SP+ top 10.. You may not consider them elite, but they certainly have a pulse

Oregon struggled defensively all year vs any decent offense. Maybe you didn't see what Will f-ing Howard did to them last week for an example. I think it's safe to say that we know Will Howard enough to say he has no business throwing over 300 with no turnovers 3 TDs and dropping 40 on anyone. Boise put up 34 on them. I may be wrong, but it is my opinion that these teams are getting their lofty rankings because the bottom of the BIG is so bad.

It’s interesting.  He was trusted in a win or go home game two weeks ago.  But that wasn’t the original play call either.

I understand the lack of trust regarding fumbles.  That does seem to be more of an issue in the game versus pass game though.

Sark is unpredictable so certainly would not predict Blue with another big play or two, but I won’t be surprised either.  We have not seen that angle route lately.

not everything has to be complicated. the reason the game was close was because we couldnt run the fucking ball.  theres nothing else that needs to be added.
