That’s insulting to the rest of the talent on this team. Starters not names Ewers haven’t lost a game the last two seasons.  Sark raised the bar with the talent he’s brought in. Ewers is part of that. He certainly ain’t all of it.

I think things would have been remarkably different with Arch Manning at the 1 yard line.

Probably would've run the through the legs play to Arch if we didn't have to burn it earlier.

These things aren't mutually exclusive.

Sark made some dumb decisions and Ewers is limited as a QB. This is why nobody takes you seriously. You completely deflect blame when these type discussions are nuanced and not 1 person's fault. That still doesn't deny that Ewers is limited as a QB.

The fuck are you talking about? We were at the 1. We ran and failed. Then we toss sweep. What would you have done differently?

There is a very good chance Quinn has a better year next year if he remains in college and plays at a different school. Sark didn't do him a lot of favors this year

Sark didn't do him a lot of favors? He completely tailored the offense and playcalling to help Quinn out.

Yeah, it was terrible playcalling.

That doesn't deny the other evidence that Ewers has limitations at QB. The fact you ride and die so hard for Ewers is actually incredible at this point. This from somebody that doesn't place the entire blame on him.

If you can't see Ewers has limitations you are biased in some way. He's zero threat to run the ball and can't throw a deep ball to save his life. Straw-man arguments do not disprove this. You do realize that Sark can be a shitty playcaller at certain times and Ewers can still have major limitations right?

This game is on Sark much more than Quinn.

Ewers made some really nice plays, missed some crucial throws, particularly that 3rd down and 5ish to Golden to start the 4th quarter. That really hurt and was the moment to take momentum and control of the game. Ugh.

Sark botched the goal line sequence. Hopefully that Quinn sack fumble on 4th down doesn't linger with fans. The 2nd down call from Sark is what killed us.

Did Arch get hurt? Feels like he should have been in on 1st and goal at the 1 to ride momentum and score. Oh well. Fuck.

We were on the 1. That's where the story starts. Tell me where Ewers held us back from there?

When your QB is zero threat to run the ball and can't stretch defenses with a deep ball you are limited out of the gate. That's been Ewers his entire career.

This is it in a nutshell.

Sark is absolutely to blame for the playcalling when it was 1st and 1 from the 1 yard line. That was horrendous and worthy of discussion elsewhere.

But we scored 14 points and our QB overthrew balls, underthrew balls, and has a knack for stepping into a collapsing pocket to self sack. He scrambles once or twice a game only because it is so completely unexpected, but he is not a threat on the ground and has no ability to scramble outside the pocket and make a pass or a play with his legs. On 95% of plays he moves a total of 2 yds from where he initially receives the snap. The comparisons to Chris Simms are true only if you put Chris Simms in ski boots.

It was shitty playcalling but again that doesn't deny the other parts of the game where Ewers once again showed major limitations.

I.e. not taking the free yards in the run game, self-sacking himself, and missing open WRs. Ewers wasn't terrible tonight and he also wasn't good. That's who Ewers is but somehow you keep defending him like he's Tom Brady.

Why does that one play have to linger when he did that repeatedly even in his 3rd year? Have you already forgotten how unnecessarily close the aggy game was after back-to-back Quinn blunders? That’s who he is.

Oh my god, STFU. Sark gives Quinn a bunch of short, easy throws because he's rarely accurate down the field. We barely use the middle of the field because half of those get batted down, and that's not all on the OL. It will be nice when we have a QB who can reliably hit a receiver more than 15 yards down the field. I hope you defend Arch as much as you've defended Quinn over the years, but something tells me you'll throw him under the bus just like you have with every other player not named Quinn.

I've been plenty critical of Quinn on this thread. Sark fucked this game up at the end and deserves most of the criticism.

Every QB does the things you are bitching about. Every. Single. One. The QB next year is going to do all those same things too. That's why there is a completion percentage. The fact that you don't understand that is borderline regarded. We were right there. Ewers had played a clean game. Just run the fucking ball from the 1 until you get in. All season you guys can't see the issue even if someone rubs your face in it. You are going to be disappointed AGAIN next year if you expect your QB to make every throw and hit on every play.

I think the last 3 games coupled with meh QB play in the playoffs and Beck having one arm have set him up with a pretty nice draft spot actually.

If we were building this offense for Quinn it would be a wide open, sideline to sideline spread. Not this power offense that we cannot run because our O-line is underwhelming.

It's like talking to a wall.

We were right there because our defense once again played well and held Ohio State to 21 points. Our offense shit the bed because of injuries, Sark's shitty playcalling, Ewers limitations, etc.

The fact you can't recognize (or admit) that Ewers has limitations is actually incredible. He can't move and he can't throw the ball downfield. Again, that doesn't mean he was solely to blame for tonight's loss.

I saw a mock draft grid today that placed DJ Ukulele at the top QB draft pick.  I guess he has a chance.

So Quinn is in fact a nothing more than a glorified leach system QB who can only throw slants and curls on predetermined reads? That makes Quinn a good quarterback and a mediocre football player which is exactly what most of us are accusing him of.

Shut...the.....fuck....up! Dude threw had thrown for 280 and no turnovers and had us on the 1 yard line against the other best defense in college football. Show some got-damned respect! Mark my words. You are going to come back and apologize in this thread in the near future when you realize who the problem really is.

You are biased.

You are in some way connected to Ewers because it's the only rational explanation. If you're too stubborn to recognize Ewers has limitations that held this offense back I don't know what to tell ya.

I don’t think it’s too much to ask your quarterback to not turnover the ball every single game. What is it 5 games in a row now throwing a pick?

Toss sweep on the 1 against the other fastest defense in CFB is the problem. If Arch was in there and we ran that I wouldn't blame Arch for that shit either. We get too cute instead of just playing football.

After the fumble return at 28-14, Quinn on 2nd down rolled out right after feeling pressure and threw an incompletion. I think that was the first time he moved out of the pocket? Or did I miss things earlier?

This was a major issue all year.

Sark is probably partly to blame for it but Ewers also has zero mobility. Teams just tee off at the LOS because they know Ewers is no threat to move the pocket with his legs. It's part of the reason our run game also struggled.

And you are stupid. Dude played a clean game until we went full regard on the 1. You can't see what's in your face. Our line is awful and we call plays like we are scared. Bring Arch in and watch us do the same thing.

Again, another retarded post. When we have rolled the pocket things have worked out right? We don't roll the pocket because Sark doesn't call it. Use your TE to wash the DE inside and let Quinn roll out and throw. Not hard. We did it to Golden last game. Quinn was plenty good enough to win that game. Don't put your worst pass blocker on an island vs one of the best DE's in CFB when you have to absolutely have it on 4th down.

Cam Williams literally just let Saywer walk past him and barely got a hand on him. Go back and rewatch the play. Count one one thousand. This will be the last thing I am going to say about all this. All year we ran ineffectively when we played anyone with a pulse defensively. Then we asked the QB to bail us out on pass rush downs all year long. The last series was a microcosm of the season. Ineffective running caused by a combination of bad execution and bad playcalling. Followed by asking your immobile QB to bail you out while doing nothing to slow the pass rush. We deserved to lose there.

We should get that OTHER top 3 play caller to help Quinn.

"Self-sack QE" can take his talents elsewhere.  Hook 'em and good luck.!!!

Sark rolled the pocket a ton with QBs at Alabama.

It's almost like he recognized Ewers can't move and stuff happens like the end of this game.
