How is this kind of thing confirmed? Who has to disclose this information?

Also LO fucking L at Auburn if remotely true. His commitment graphic was hilarious - all about how highly rated of a recruit he was and his elite 11 finish. For a dude who just started a full season for a blue blood.

Yeah part of that is definitely Auburn being stupid. I know enough high end boosters at a few programs that aren't Auburn but were willing to play in the million dollar range but were told they're not even close.  Like Miami for example.  tOSU is someone who was just kicking the tires - I know a couple of their boosters, they often kick the tires on their own and take info back to the OSU team.  I'm not saying they wanted him but they're kicking the tires on a lot of different QB's if they don't have a Manning chillin on the bench.  So multiple people were told a million isn't even getting a seat at the table.  And wouldn't you take 1.3/1.4 at say Miami, vs 1.9 at Auburn?  But we all know Auburn is stupid, maybe dumber than aggy.  That's saying a lot.

edit: sorry, also meant to agree with his graphics and elite 11 brag.  serious small dick vibes...

Just posting some numbers from different areas of the draft and their numbers for context of the money available. If he can be near the top of the second round as a draft pick and get similar deal to Levis that seems better than the NIL deal at the college level. It is a gamble that he has place but that is where he has to have faith in himself and his ability while trusting what his team is being told from NFL people. Personally given his injury history I think it is smarter to move on to the NFL where you can work toward your second contract. The best lucrative position that health isn't a concern is backup NFL QB...if he isn't a starting caliber NFL QB he can definitely make a career in the NFL being the backup.

Colt McCoy agrees with you.   He can still play with his kids, and walk to the mailbox.

People here believe Carson Beck is getting $4 million?

CBS Sports says it’s a $4m deal. They gave Ward $2.1m last year.

$6M to risk an injury that ends your career or $1M+ to play one of best/safest jobs in all of sports (also, it's contractually $1M+ per year and a $1M+ signing bonus if he goes round 3, which feels right)? Give me the easy button.

Plus you vest a year earlier if you go

i don’t think he will improve his stock with another year in. Teams know what he can do and what his limitations are.

A lot of us shit talking tOSU and losing. Damn. We HAVE to get better in the RZ. This should be statistically impossible to have the same issues from last year since this team has been together for 3 years. Maybe I'm wrong, but we have some serious issues, and it's not just because Baxter is injured. We make things harder than they should be.

Quinn isn’t coming back with most of the OL leaving. He wouldn’t make it through a season.

He's not coming back because the bmd’s and no one else involved with the program would allow it. There’s a 0% chance he’s coming back to Texas, I don’t even understand the speculation he will.

Quinn will be one of the most controversial Longhorns to ever put on the burnt orange. Quinn would make some unbelievable throws at times. In between those throws were tons of batted balls, confusing self sacks, the most wacky whimsical turnovers, and horrid wounded duck deep shots. The velocity of his intermediate throws seemed to decrease every season at Texas. I wonder if Turner permanently fucked his AC Joint, like some lingering arthritis. Also no matter the flow of the game, the guy would just go sit on the bench with a look as if he would rather be anywhere else. That being said, he won a shit ton of games and was always a great representative of the university. You really can’t ask much more of a Longhorn athlete. I think we’re all so critical of him at QB because  of the potential of the last two teams, those were legitimate championship windows. It’s hard to imagine Sam not winning a national title at Texas with the 20+ draft picks on the ‘23 and ‘24 rosters. We didn’t need a hero, just a consistent chain mover.

I'm 100% sure that Quinn beat out Arch this year. Stop being ridiculous.

But he didn’t. Quinn was named the starter before spring ball even started.  Not that he shouldn’t have been the starter but there wasn’t a QB competition.

Which highlights some of feelings I have  about the offense vs defense when it comes to moving up the depth chart and who gets to play.  Won’t get into that here though.

As far as the draft he should go pro this year.  As critical as we are of him he is still one of the better QBs going into the draft and the league GMs seem legally obligated to draft at least 4 QBs in the first round.  I can’t see him dropping below the 2nd Rd.

He needs to go. This is similar to Jonathan Brooks leaving last year. Last year's RB class was really weak. This years is ridiculously deep. Was a good decision to leave. Quinn needs to leave given how weak the QB class is considered.

This is the most sensible take I’ve read in a while.  Not sure what Quinn is going to do when he plays that Rams defense that got after Darnold last night, but that’s not our problem.

Arch looked the same as Quinn did in that 1st half. Guessing you are blocking out how Quinn looked for the 1st 1.7 quarters

There was no intention to start Arch this year, that is true. But if Arch looked better Quinn, Arch would have gotten more time. I'm 100% confident that Arch would have struggled a lot more with other aspects of QB play. I'm 100% sure that Sark thought Quinn gave us our best shot. This is a stupid conversation.

Democratic Debate GIF by GIPHY News

Not sure the point when you are comparing a freshmen coming off the bench for a 3 year starter. There should be a wide gap based on experience. If they played  the same you would think the freshmen would improve at a greater level as this is the 1st time he is seeing an excellent defense.

How much has Quinn pocketed to this point?

Yeah you claim he can make $6M next year versus a not 1st round draft pick contract next year, but he isn't hurting. I'm guessing he already has millions in the bank. Maybe just feels it's time to go for it.

Quinn was struggling and in a panic Sark threw Arch into the fire for 2 series. Terrible situation and holding any negativity from it is dumb.

Now we have delusional Quinn-Anon folks saying there was a QB competition when Quinn was named the starter before the camp?

I think Sark made a deal with the Ewers camp that he would be the unquestioned QB1 this season to showcase his skills and enter the draft to make room for Arch.

Ewers was Sark's first QB when he badly needed a good QB to turn this program around. I think Sark was loyal to him because of that. If Arch ends up being a liability, would Sark show the same level of loyalty or put the program first?

That’s best for sarks resume as well.  He doesn’t want to be known as a qb killer

He did a pretty good QB killer impersonation this year... You would think he would have tailored his offense to let QE read the defense and not take his eyes off of it but you see where we landed.

Sark is an offensive guy, so I highly doubt that he would have any input on the defense.

I'm Sark's press conference he admitted Quinn wasn't healthy all season, so we can chalk that up to some issues. But it he didn't come back, we lost a few more games and our chance at the CFP, as good as Arch looked against the poors, he wasn't going to win all of those games. Right now, as we sit here, a 75% healthy Quinn is better than a 100% Arch based on playbook knowledge.

Yes, Quinn made mistakes and self-sacks himself, which is fucking annoying to all of us; if Arch went in and fucked up a game just imagine how much our fan base would hang themselves. It's the Texas QB paradox.

I agree , and a lot of the posters riding this Arch fantasy are going to lose their damn minds when he fumbles / intercepts the first time , misses some 'easy' pass

I think Quinn rushed back because of the Arch hype and how he was playing. I also don’t think Quinn would have gotten his job back had he stayed out longer enough to properly heal. It was foolish to not give Arch plays actually running the offense, to get him ready for next year.
I have complained about Arch waiting for the big play as opposed to the smart play and taking what’s there sometime. He’s also a rs freshman with almost no experience. Those are mistakes you know are coming. You expect a rs jr to have a lot fewer of those.

Sark is so mid he got the guy on the left drafted 15th overall

Jay Tust on X: "The #Patriots scouting report on Mac Jones: "Yup, looks good to me!" https://t.co/ThGKWs9D3L" / X

That guy on the left also threw for over 1,000 yards more 14 more touchdowns in 13 games which is nearly identical to QE who got just a shade over 13 with injuries.

The point remains Sark is fully capable he seems to do better when he has a player who can run his style of offense because it's 1000% clear he's too stubborn to tweak his offense to fit his player hence the grand canyon of disparity between the two seasons.

Ewers looked like shit playing the shit competition that was Vandy, Arkansas, and Kentucky. So yeah, forgive us if one QB in his 2nd year looked much better than a QB in his 3rd year against similar competition.

We're not really going to compare a covid season QB stats are we? He's good yeah, but what about his entire offensive line being All-SEC? or Smith being the Heisman winner... Harris being the Doak Walker winner... or their "lower" tier WR being Waddle and Metchie ??  How do you compare that "stat" wise.

Why should he tweak an offense that got Mac Jones, Jake Locker, and Cody Kessleer drafted at an average position of 38.7, or a high 2nd round pick. Maybe instead Ewers should have gotten better under his tutelage. Those 3 guys certainly did, and none of them had anywhere close to the natural arm talent Ewers supposedly has.
