Why should he tweak an offense that got Mac Jones, Jake Locker, and Cody Kessleer drafted at an average position of 38.7, or a high 2nd round pick. Maybe instead Ewers should have gotten better under his tutelage. Those 3 guys certainly did, and none of them had anywhere close to the natural arm talent Ewers supposedly has.

We had enough talent to win the national championship the past two seasons and we have a B12 title to show for it. You do the math....

In his interview before the OSU game he said he was going to declare for the draft.

the only way to answer that question pre game

Quinn Ewers reportedly has recruiting personnel from Ohio State, Alabama, Notre Dame, and Georgia all reportedly “extremely interested” in him as a potential transfer QB.

Ewers is reportedly “not even a guaranteed second round pick” according to several NFL scouts.

Many NFL scouts reportedly believe Ewers “needs” to grad-transfer and will make more money staying in college rather than he would playing in the NFL.

Ewers reportedly has “multiple” $6+ million offers to transfer, with some being in the Big Ten.

The money in college football is absolutely INSANE 😳

Wouldn't he have to announce very soon to enroll this semester?

It makes sense in so many ways for Quinn to transfer instead of NFL, I just really hope he doesn’t do it. I don’t want to watch him play in college for another team next year. I don’t want us to play against him next year. As much as we can hand-wring all day about 3, he was our QB, our guy, that brought us back to national relevance.

When it comes down to it, he’s gotta make the best decision for him. Just hope he thinks that best decision is backup in the NFL for a season or two before he gets his shot.

Can you imagine him leading OSU next year to a victory over us to start the year and then back to back national titles?

I can't because he's not good. He had TOs in the last 6 games of the season, including multiple games with multiple TOs, that is shitty QB play. If he went anywhere I would laugh if we got to play him.

I'll allow QE to transfer just not to someone we play next season.

Actually haven't seen anyone mention if he would be potentially a grad transfer or not, but if he is he can go anywhere and play. If he isn't then he has to go out of conference

fair after the last few years, now that you say that I'm not either.

i seem to recall a bunch of transfer shenanigans with SEC teams right before we were official members that didn't make people super happy so my understanding it still applies

Apparently there was an SEC rule that stated they can transfer inside the conference, but only if they enter the portal before Feb 1…

But it no longer applies

A change to know in the SEC

The SEC previously had its own transfer deadline on Feb. 1 for fall-sport athletes who wished to transfer from one SEC school to another. That’s no longer the case. Whereas before SEC players had to be in the portal by Feb. 1 to be an intraconference transfer, the SEC earlier this year adopted the NCAA’s calendar, which means the deadline for SEC athletes is now Jan. 2 when the winter portal window closes with the same five-day grace period the NCAA provides to players after a postseason contest. Those dates also apply to graduate transfers.

With the 12 team playoff, we’re going to have to wish for his downfall then, which I can’t do either. I would root for 3 if he’s on ND next year, but then we end up playing ND in the playoffs and that’s going to be a rough day either way as a Texas fan. We had the right idea with Quinn, it just didn’t happen how we all wanted it to.

Saying 3 isn’t good is some of the dumbest shit on this site. QE had his warts, but 4th & 13 from the 28 I’ll remember forever. 3 wins over our rivals in the first year of SEC. The Michigan game that I went to will be an all time sports memory for me. We don’t have Arch without Quinn. I could go on. Yes he struggled at times, but there are very few exceptions to the fact that of all the teams we played with Quinn at QB over his 3 years, the team we faced would have rather had 3 as their QB than their own. Hell, every team we played this year probably would have rather had Quinn as their starter, including over Carson Beck or Will Howard.

Quinn has been the most positive impactful player to the Texas program since Colt McCoy and I don’t think that’s really up for debate. Ehlinger was a gamer and a great representative of the program, but the results pretty clearly speak for themselves.

I hope you’re ready for Arch to throw around 10 ints next year. First year starter that is aggressive with the deep ball. Bound to happen.

Quinn is going to declare for the NFL Draft tomorrow, sometime after Trey Moore hopefully announces he is staying (he's our last one, right?) because he knows his is the biggest "will he or won't he" on the team, and he didn't want to take away from his teammates' announcements.  That's the kind of dude he apparently is if you listen to the words of guys like Kelvin Banks, Tre Wisner and Jahdae Barron.

QE will heal up, will look good in his workouts, will get excellent reviews from every coach he has been around, and will get drafted no later than mid-second round most likely as the 4th QB taken.  A team taking a QB in that spot shouldn't need a plug-in starter, so he can put on the needed 15+ pounds and do some serious work on his footspeed...and if he puts in the work, has a chance to be a good NFL quarterback.

Yeah, it's hard to get 10.6%.  It's still a lesson in the time value of money.  He doesn't need it, he's already made millions and I seriously doubt he's blown through it.

This is the dumbshit that gets me fired up.

No matter who we’ve played the record without him starting the past 3 years is similar on a percentage basis to those he’s missed.

There are metrics that say our defense is better, relative to the opponent, than the offense all 3 of his years.

Back to back first overall RBs taken in the draft two years year.

One of the most highly decorated, likely highest drafted, olinemen in school history.

The fastest WR duo in NFL combine history.  Statistically speaking, one of those dudes had his best year prior to Ewers arrival.

Likely TEs drafted in back to back years.  I’m not sure that’s happened at Texas.

I didn’t even mention Roschon.  I didn’t mention Whittington.  I didn’t even mention individuals from the defense.

A number of guys that bridged the gap between the prior regime to this one.  That made a shit ton of plays.  But sure the guy who seemingly admitted to maybe not fully preparing his body and his mind in his first year here is the unquestioned savior for the program.

I suggest you wear your hard hat when wandering outdoors again. And truly hope the damage is not irreparable.

y’all need to look at some of the QBs drafted in the first round - Quinn did the right thing coming back and I’d be surprised if he’s not taken in the first round.

His arm talent will go a long way and he’s going into the combine/pro day healthy. He’s gonna impress at those workouts.

He has his warts but he also makes throws that many in the NFL cannot do.

His biggest issue is his injury history but plenty of teams will ignore that and YOLO it.

Best I have seen for Ewers after our playoff exit is a 3rd round pick.  Assuming that's true and where he would be drafted, and assuming someone is offering him $3-$6 million NIL to transfer and play another year of college ball, he should transfer and take that money.

More than half the players drafted in round 3 or lower will get their rookie contract and thats it.  The average 3rd round QB rookie contract is worth 5.5 to 6 million over 4 years, or 1.375 to 1.5 million a year.  Only the signing bonus of $800,000 to $1.2 million is guaranteed.  He could get hurt, damaged beyond repair, and that's it.

If he goes pro this year, odds are he makes $5.5 to $6 million more on his football career and that's it.  Maybe less if he gets injured and can't complete his rookie contract.  If he transfers for $4 million, plays a season and gets drafted in the same spot for a single rookie contract, odds are he makes $9.5 to $10 million more on his football career and that's it.  Maybe less if he gets injured and can't complete his rookie contract, but he'd have the $4 million in the bank regardless of what happens to him as a pro.

The calculus for "getting paid" for your football skills is changing radically and rapidly.

Fucking thank you. The results of Sark's program turnaround can be studied on other threads on this board. You know, the ones where we discuss how many NFL players were going to have drafted over the past 2 years compared to the dearth of NFL talent we had with the last 2 coaches. But Quinn's fans are trying hard to write his legacy in stone. "The one who led us back to national prominence." Carried us. Willed us....... Nah.

He'll be placed right where he belongs to me. Not close to VY or Colt, but battling somewhere between the 2nd tier of "Good" Longhorn quarterbacks. Not great.

No one.  Everything is speculative at this point, and I am sure Quinn's not saying anything yet is to see what colleges offer him in the time he has before he must declare one way or the other.  He'll see what he can make in college for a year vs where he's likely to get drafted and make a decision.

Lol. Quarterback play matters. Ask LSU. They've been loaded on both sides of the ball for decades besides a signal caller. When they had a decent one they won. We've been exactly as good as the QBs we've had here.

I think it will be telling what he does.

He was the first to come out early and grab and grab a deal with OSU because of favorable laws they passed.

There are tons of rumors about values that none of us can confirm , and likely a bunch of which is noise from agents trying to get larger commissions.

If he goes to the NFL it's a signal the market is not matching the rumors.

There is a pending court case against the NCAA to allow players 5 years of eligibility (not including redshirt years). The ruling will likely happen within the coming year. If this ruling happens next year, if Quinn is still playing college football, he could potentially get another year of eligibility beyond next year.

Quinn should squeeze all of the NIL money he can out of everything because once you go NFL things are very different. I want Quinn to make as much money as possible and he can do that by staying a huge college football star. He is already a very recognizable figure. I would love to see Quinn transfer to another school and take them to a conference title instead of going to some shitty NFL team where he’s going to get broken in half and not be able to play the way he used to pre-injury.

Quinn shined a bright light in our dark 5-6 space. He took us from 5-6 to 25-5 so anyone who doesn't put respect on that mans name is a dipshit.

When you are injury prone you are going to need more time looking into the teeth of the defense. It is 100% on our coach that didn't happen.

I hope and think Arch is better suited for Sark's offense but I sure wish he had gotten some more passing downs this season because 8/31 is gonna be bad.

The responsibility flows up to one man. The same man who develops talent well, the same man who recruits well, the same man who has the best press conferences I have ever seen at Texas aka the person who I think is best suited to take us into the future. I also think his stubbornness is going to kill us. I hope beyond measure I am wrong and I hope I can come eat all the crow and swear fealty.
