Well our defense is a bunch of card-carrying, big-hitting, nasty motherfuckers.

Even our white DB plays like a fuckin gangster.

this is why people are upset. we have a playoff caliber, potentially national title caliber team, and our QB has spent the last three hames cratering and turning into a liability, when previously he’d looked great before getting injured, a scenario we’ve already lived through before. we are 7-1 despite quinn, not be wise of him. the university if Texas had four, count em, four national titles in its illustrious history. what a shame it would be to potentially lose out on our fifth because our supposed-to-be heisman winner/no.1 overall draft pick is scared to get hurt and is not longer a threat to throw the ball more than 7 yards down the field.

the thing is I feel if sark was to call plays less quinncentric and focus more on our run game and protect our championship defense, we can still win it all. we don't need the best qb in the country to win with this defense. we could use the best game manager tho. just don't turn ball over and reserve the right to punt might be enough. im not arguing if Quinn sucks or not, just that this team is good enough to win it all as long as our offense doesnt turn ball over 2 or 3 times a game and score just enough. might look ugly sometimes but just win baby.

We didn’t really know Quinn was going to play injured or have the mental issues he’s having until after the Oklahoma game. That would mean if sark were as good a coach as, checks notes, you and that crayon eating shit for brains  @BurntOrange&White then arch would have trotted out against Georgia. Ewers would most likely be in the portal and we would have a RS freshman with a freshman backup to play the rest of the year. No run game, OL clearly with some deficiencies, shit punter, and a banged up #1 wr with a steep drop in production after him. You think we end the year 11-1 in that scenario?

If you would’ve told me that we’d be through 8 games, and the main bitching point wasn’t the Gideon/Terry pairing, I would’ve said you were full of shit after how it was this offseason

Good job playing the long game here.

Setting it up nicely for when we get a final 4 finish.  Who knows maybe even a title.  And I mean that legitimately.

Here’s a nugget to help you sleep better at night.  Quintrevion is top 5 in YPC in conference games in the S-E-C.  Other top 5 dudes have much fewer carries and/or are now broken.

We will win and lose first and foremost based on what happens upfront.  You’d be hard pressed to find two teams better than us at those positions.

I think Texas is much more balanced at WR, than you are implying.

2    Isaiah Bond                7    23    380    16.52    4    3.3    54.3
3    Matthew Golden       8    24    332    13.83    4    3.0    41.5
4    Ryan Wingo               8    19    328    17.26    2    2.4    41.0
5    DeAndre Moore Jr.   8    17    249    14.65     5    2.1     31.1

yeah I worded that wrong, good call. I should have said drop in dynamic ability. Wingo will be better than bond one day I believe but right now bond is our only complete receiver. The other guys have some dynamic traits but aren't #1's long term.

I dont think Texas has that true #1 WR. I think they all offer something a little different.

Here is the leading receivers each game.

CSU- Wingo

Mich- Helm

UTSA-Wingo

UTSA - Bond

MSU- Moore

OU- Helm

Georgia - Golden

Vandy- Moore

I have Moore as the do it all guy. He can run most the route tree and is hte best blocker. Wingo should develop into the that true # 1 guy. Bond is more of a pure speed guy and he does it well.

If my son, ahem, starts throwing the ball with some confidence again I'm pretty sure bond could showcase some of the things he's improved. I absolutely agree that wingo will be a true #1 throw him the ball anywhere/anytime and let him work kind of guy. I hope one day we are able to line up with a couple #1's at the same time but maybe with NIL that's a pipe dream.

Ohio State has no problem doing that.

The meatchicken game had me thinking Quinn had found his Gronk (or Kelce, for you younguns) in the person of Gunnar Helm. Flashes of that since then, and it needs to come back full time.

He is the leading receiver on the team in receptions and yards. I dont know if that has ever happened at Texas

People need to probably go back and watch that game.  Quinn threw 2 near interceptions in that game as well, but we executed better as a team.  Still got some drives killed with stupid penalties in that one too.  Quinn has been remarkably consistent aside from Georgia.

Quinn was at his best vs Michigan. I know overall 3rd down conversions were 63%, but he was on fire in the first half on 3rd down and lot of them were 3rd and longs.  If that Quinn shows up again, Texas has a real chance at the NC.

We scored 7 points in the 2nd half against Michigan so Quinn needs to play even better than he did in that game.

Game was 31-6 late 3Q. Not much need to put up points.

Go back and rewatch.  He looks the same to me.  Everyone has gotten histrionic because of the bad game against Georgia.

There were some iffy moments in that game.  Second play from scrimmage - just kinda blindly throws the screen.  The 3rd down pass to Bond.  Good throw, but he didn’t work the safety that great.  The CB and S play was not good.  From my view, his 3rd down run is when he got settled.  Absolutely his best game at breaking pocket and getting the ball downfield after that.  2nd quarter there was a dangerous ball that easily could have been picked for potentially 6.  Around midfield, in the middle of the field.  Then later he threw one to the sideline when our guy ran upfield.  Not real close to being picked, but it wasn’t a positive play either.

That game is one that the near stuff went our way, allowed us to build confidence and create separation.  Overall, we executed better.

Amazing isn’t it!  And, yet, we have people here losing their minds over Quinn.  Quinn is a good QB but he is not a transcendent or even very good QB.  He definitely isn’t shit and is good enough for Texas to make a big run!

We havent really seen the Quinn that threw that ball to Bond on 3rd down. According to Babers PFF graded him higher with pressure than with a clean pocket in that game. We clearly havent seen that the last 3 weeks. It is not really a discussion if this was the best Quinn we saw on the season. After this game people were talking about Quinn being the #1 QB in the draft. The latest one I saw was from CBS and had him the 5th QB taken. Right now, he is probably a reach to be 1st round, but it is the NFL and they tend to reach on QBs.

Michigan was slow af and I called it out on the first offensive drive. We will not play another team that slow.

Fortunately Florida is bad and is trotting out a 3rd string QB.

We should roll Arkansas and Kentucky.

10-1 facing aggy, who is going to get better with a DT QB... Quinn better have his shit together by then.

Quinn is who he has always been.

People are looking for excuses like “he’s still hurt” but he has always played like shit when there’s pressure and he very rarely starts quickly.

We’ll see the same thing this weekend against Florida, likely with another dumbass interception on one of the first few drives.

Akili Smith.. shows the talent to be there. Has a build that fits the bill.

Gets in his own head and plays down vs ability.

Best I could come up with..

If anything, Marcel Reed will continue to regress this season as teams get more tape on him in this offense. He’s a very limited passer, more so than Michael Hawkins

PFF SEC QB Grades for Week 10 | LouisianaSports.net | LouisianaSports.net

Two quarterbacks that had the biggest jump up and slide down in the rankings respectively were Tennessee’s Nico Iamaleava and Texas A&M’s Marcel Reed. Iaamaleava has struggled throughout most of his first season as a starter, ranking 13th in the league and 178th in the country just a week ago. However, after his performance against Kentucky he jumped all the way up to 102nd in the country and cracked the top eight in the league. Those were both season highs.

We saw the opposite with Marcel Reed. A week after a legendary performance off the bench in College Station against LSU, Reed and Texas A&M got blown out on the road against South Carolina, 44-20. Reed had his first turnover of the season and the Aggie offense only mustered 351 total yards. Reed dropped all the way down to No. 207 in the country after the game.

Quinn had good feet and pocket feel. But watch Michigan's defense. They gave him the same look the entire game and didn't disguise anything. He was comfortable and picked them apart.

Now everyone knows that he struggles with disguises and the confusion causes his fundamentals to break down. He'll never have it as easy as he did on that day in Ann Arbor.

Yep.  Defense is going to have to win games for us b/c the book is out on Quinn.  He gets confused easily and melts under pressure.

I saw a mock draft the other day and he wasn’t in the 1st. Cam Williams was there at 32 though.
