Y’all think I don’t acknowledge he played poorly, I mean the whole offense shit the bed too

I just don’t see a RS Fr playing better. Sorry don’t see it. Sark doesn’t either.

if you want me to acknowledge QE has regressed I have and will again.

arch isn’t the answer this year. QE showing up is.

Quinn Ewers showing up….the 3 year question. Yeah let’s just pray

I’m extremely disappointed in QE’s play this year.  It’s counter balanced by pleasant surprise our defense is so dominant.

I just think QE can play elite and he has before. I simply do not think Arch will play like a seasoned veteran in the playoffs. I truly believe a no turnover QE who throws for 200 is enough to win the playoffs. And I think arch is simply too inexperienced to take the chance on what is our best chance at a title since well last year.

I wouldn't call our defense dominant. It's pretty good, but I'd say that it's questionable whether they can hold up against playoff teams if our offense is languishing for several quarters. Arkansas was marching down the field until they fumbled and doing it both passing and running. But hopefully they will continue to improve and peak down the stretch. They are certainly playing well enough for us to win if our offense gets better. And to do that, Quinn simply HAS to do better than he has been. And maybe he will.

I’m not saying that Arch is our underutilized savior, but the opposite could also be true. Maybe Arch hits some passes or makes some play and those games aren’t as close.

The truth is probably somewhere in the middle.

Fair, which makes it debatable.

Just modern football. It’s extremely hard to go a season where someone doesn’t get you. Texas has only played 1 top 20 offense this year by FEI (18 Georgia). To win a title there will be a game the offense needs to 27 or more

I think only Oregon but that may be PTSD from last year in Dallas.

Because turnovers and the worst QB play since Hudson Card vs Arkansas in 2021. That game is the epitome of why we need elite QB play to win a title. We will have to 2-4 games like that game to win a title.

It’s not at all actually. Average QB play wins that game.

Between the hashes is a little different than throwing over the middle bexause it includes some of the vertical stuff hash stuff. IE, one of the curls we caught for about 15 yards. I just watched it back and counted 1 complete to Golden across the middle where the throw was longer than 5 air yards. I might have missed 1 but that is an insanely low percentage of throws. It’s a problem

The only teams that can mash our D are ones that have massive a massive Oline and can run it straight at you. Frankly that’s the best offensive strategy for Arkansas and in the second half they got a TD and turned it over. Our defense is pretty fucking legit.

Yep, very difficult.  There’s no doubt we have a very good defense but for me there are still questions as to exactly how good.  The pig 2nd half approach is how you attack us.  The Alfred Collins fumble was huge because they were driving again.  17 and below would be quite the accomplishment.

Why don't you try reading my posts on the subject just a few above yours. As for beating Quinn out in practice, this isn't a fall camp competition situation. And Quinn doesn't have to worry about contact in practice. Football games are played full contact, not 7 on 7.

I don't need to prove to you that your statement was ridiculous. It was and you can accept that or not.

“I don’t need to prove it”…so clearly JAG who doesn’t know Jack shit just like the rest of us. QBs get replaced mid-season all the time if they’re ineffective. If Arch was showing he was going to be more effective than Ewers at getting Texas to the CFP and national championship, he would be QB1.

Not really.  Oregon no, BYU no, ND no, Tenn maybe, Uga yes, Bama not really, Ohio state, haven’t watched enough, ACC, no. Pretty much the top of the SEC. Even still Arkansas is large as fuck across the front and has a big grown ass man RB and we held them to one TD drive. Legit.

Ok what about Florida?

the pro-quinn arguments involving the florida game are one of two things: totally disingenuous, or the opinion of someone who can only look at a stat line and who can’t make decisions based on watching the actual game.

QE made a bunch of short throws that ended up going for 30, 40, 50+ yards thanks to our excellent receiving talent. also thanks to sark, who showed his worth with that game plan against a bombed out and depleted florida team. he knew he could beat florida with nothing but one-read/horizontal passes and that’s exactly what we did. and whenever we did try to do anything more dynamic or downfield QE generally biffed it. did he have good stats against florida? yes. did he play a particularly inspiring game? nope. sark was the offensive mvp vs that jv florida team.

I love this defense. I don’t think it is like that NC Georgia defense, that had high round picks every where. They are one of the best coordinated defenses I have seen. They get turnovers and don’t give up explosives. I just think over the course of what would be 15-16 games, the odds are likely you run into a QB that just plays out of his mind or an OC creates a great game plan. Even The Bama and Georgia NC defenses  needed to be bailed out by their offense in the playoffs

QE has done that. I actually think he’s got some big games in him left. I could be wrong. I still think no turnovers, 350 total yards can be enough unless DG runs amuck like it’s the state fair and he’s a sooner again.

Arkansas line isn’t talented. All the playoff teams outside of big 12 team and Boise will have large offensive lines that are talented.

Most of us understand the QB situation and are just venting. Quinn is the starter.

That said, enough of the pussyfooting and conservative play out on the field. His draft stock is sinking by the hour, his tape since the Michigan game is bad. Get him out of the pocket more and tell him to use his fucking legs and run. If he gets hurt, he gets hurt. We have the best backup QB in the country. But if Quinn can be a threat AT ALL on the move, it opens up everything else on offense.

Similar arguments can be made re Arch and his performances against ULM and Miss St which are trotted out here as evidence he’s a guaranteed 300 yards passing 50 running and 1 TO max in high pressured playoff games. they aren’t good barometers of play in big time games

So you think Quinn can win a championship for Texas?

That's what it boils down to.

If you do think Quinn can, then he should continue to play. If you don't think he can, then we should play Arch so he has playing time and prep for next season.

Then there's me, it's too late at this point to win a NC with either. Sark already shit the bed not making the change at Georgia. Because my long list prior he can't and sadly this season is most likely a wash. However, I'll smoke Hopium with he Quinn cock gobbling crowd because it's better than nothing.

I'll also wager I'm one of the few here arguing the point either way that has a hotel room booked and tickets for both the SEC championship and the National Championship.

Edit - Like Sark, Texas and all Longhorn nation, at this point, despite not getting our inside draw on the turn we're pot committed. However, I know my odds and admit them openly.

I do think the portal has screwed with offensive continuity.  Defenses may be more apt to dare you to drive the field too and see if you can be patient as well.  The clock rules allow the game to be shortened some.  Ultimately points may be harder to come by.

Before the Vandy game I said the 1st half maybe the most important half of Quinn’s career. I wouldn’t say that about Kentucky, but another ugly 1st half and it will get interesting. That probably means he comes out and looks great in the 1st half vs Kentucky. Just because that is the roller coaster that Quinn is right now

not really. arch was throwing downfield, constantly, and effectively; he was making his reads, stepping up in the pocket, hitting timing routes downfield; he was scrambling for first downs and big gains; he outran UTSA’s entire secondary for a 65 yard TD where he turned around and mocked them at the end. quinn has done none of that. quinn has been consistently underwhelming and needing to be supported by his surrounding cast and coaches. Arch has been a difference maker; quinn has held people back.

Exactly how is he better than Sam?  Are you basing that on winning a championship in a mediocre big 12?

I struggle to directly compare them because the offenses are so different and Sam was forced to play too early. Sam never had a particularly high completion percentage. We were habitual turtlers under Tom, let’s not romanticize the era. One thing you never wondered about at all with sam was his love of the university and his toughness. So maybe from a pure arm talent perspective, QE has an edge, which is pretty fucking important for a QB. But all the intangibles, the running ability, Sam has him. Sam would be better on this team right now because we need a running QB to open things up.

Same people I am not. I have plenty of faith in our running game, they’re just not getting the early attempts that are vital to getting the D out of their comfortable zone calls for playaction to be effective in first half.

A thousand percent you can win a game with 50 pass yards a quarter.

You can’t really compare them although those comparisons happen all the time. The environments are completely different.

People absolutely give Ewers higher marks for his arm but in college you can work around that.  You can easily find many great throws from Sam too.

In my view, the most you can ask of a player is to play as hard as often as you can.  That’s Sam.  His production was damn good too.  The chaos surrounding his teams was off the charts.

I would argue that winning is more important than hype.

And yes if he loses to Aggy that changes things. But let's use Aggy, if you're sure Arch gives us a better chance to go into Kyle and beat Aggy you're delusional.
