The problem is we cannot run the football. They were killing the interior of our line. You can't ask the quarterback to be the entirety of your offense. You also can't ask the quarterback to recover from 100 yards worth of offensive calls either.

That's fair but another reason why Ewers isn't a game changer.

If you have issues running the ball it helps to have a mobile QB. Do you know a big reason why we struggle to run the ball at times? Teams bring their inside LBers to the LOS because they know if Ewers drops back he is zero threat to take off up the middle.

You can't ask a QB "to be the entirety of your offense" but we are paying Ewers to be a game-changer. He's not that.

Dudes not even a chain mover. Go ahead pick, 8 Yards short of the sticks. Our defense has to be the most experienced unit in the country in defending sudden redzone offenses.

The next time you're watching a random CFB game, focus on the QB. Time how long it takes until you see the QB make a throw that Quinn can't make. You won't have to wait very long.

Quinn is insanely limited in terms of the throws he can make and he's not a running threat. This hamstrings our entire offense. He can throw screens, lofted passes, and slants that get plenty of YAC outside the red zone. But when you're in the redzone you need more in your arsenal and Quinn doesn't have it. You need arm strength.

You’re completely wrong.  On that play the OL was in pass pro to the left with the RB and RG screening right.  the play was likely 1st read to the TE who was covered.
coverage was busted on the Z WR who was open by 30 yards and waving his arms in the corner.

its difficult to process all this at game speed with defenders bearing down unblocked, but an immobile QB spinning around with their back to the defense is not optimal.  Keep your eyes downfield where you can see what’s transpiring, leave the spinning shit to slippery guys who can pull that off like a Kyler Murray type.

So after watching this game, we are winning the national championship with Bert the kicker, Jekyll and Hyde Quinn, and sark calling red zone plays? Ok.

Maybe, maybe not. Depends on if we step on our own dicks (Looking at Ewers and Auburn). That is how good our defense is. Yall are such pussies, if one of those UGA fumbles bounces our way we win the SEC championship and everyone would act like we are unbeatable. We are a great team with flaws. We can definitely win it all, but we can also lose. Enjoy the ride.

It’s that simple. The offense can’t score. We can’t swap out the entire oline, or get a new RB corps. We could change something at QB though.

Ewers has been playing well enough for this team to win games, including tonight. He is not playing well enough to win games on his own, and I don’t think he can, based on what we’ve seen.

That said, I don’t think switching to Arch for the playoffs gives us a better chance of winning a championship, even though I think Arch will be better next year than Ewers has been this year.

My takeaways, in no particular order:

Quinn had his moments of greatness, but alas they came with too many moments of fuck up.

His last interception gave GA a FG that kept us from winning with our final FG in Regulation. It was another shit throw that we've seen way too many times to a receiver who was blanketed.

On our last possession before kicking that FG to tie it up, Quinn threw three shitty passes. REminded me of Washington last year. If the receiver isn't open, he doesn't pull it back in and try to buy time for a secondary receiver - he just puts it up and hopes for the best. On one of those throws, the receiver was open at about the eight. A good tight throw woulda resulted in a first down inside the five or a TD - in either case we would have won outright, but instead Quinn lofted the ball and it sailed over everyone's head - just like Washington.

He got us 16pts in regulation: That's what Quinn does. Sometimes he looks like a scared rabbit.

On our first possession in OT, Sark put in Manning for a quick five, opening the door to an easy first down. On the next first down play, Sark leaves fucking Quinn in instead of repeating what had just worked so well.

Sark's play calling was too often mediocre. The team made way too many errors. Holding GA scoreless was never an option, and when Sark saw Quinn put up 6 in the first half, he probably should have given Arch a few tries. All we really needed was two TDs. With ARch's ability to run and pass, woulda been easy.

It's time to give Manning a bigger role in our game plan from here on out.

on what planet do you think that’s a downfield throw?

the OLine not blocking literally tells you it’s a screen

Oh that play. Looked like a screen or at best a fake double screen that you absolutely don't call when your line is struggling blocking because it's too slow developing.

I don’t even know if this is true.  Quinn does seem to put a lot of air under the ball it from what I’ve seen he can throw the ball really really really far

It's reactionary nonsense.

We will also likely get our NFL LT back for the playoffs. We can beat anybody and I would still have us as one of the top 3 favorites to win it all with our defense.

He just isn't an elite winning QB. Multiple chances to make 1 fucking throw to win the game and he can't do it. Wingo was fucking open and he throws that shit short, just like he has done in every fucking game, and when we pointed it out, Quinn's nut hangers brushed it off, even though we said when he does the same shit against better competition the catches will not be made.

He made some nice throws, but he just limits our offense so much. We've scored 20 or fewer in three consecutive games now, and yeah it's not all on him, but to quote Scipio, "Ewers is the governor on the offense".

I don't know what it would do re: complementary football, but I'm very confident we'd score more points with a switch at QB.

I maintain that Sark's playcalling was the issue over Quinn today.

What Kirby has learned over the years in the SEC is you have to let your nuts hang to win these games. Sark got way too cute with the playcalling. That shit doesn't work in the SEC in big games. Just drop back and throw a goddamn deep slant for a touchdown instead of running double fake finesse reverses or LOS passes that need to be perfectly blocked in the red zone to succeed.

You know there's a problem when all we can say about Ewers is "he's pretty good in the short and intermediate passing game." We are already limiting the offense when we resort to that being the strength of our offense.

Especially so with a short field.  We've been pretty abysmal in the red zone the entire time Ewers has been here and that's why.

This x1000. It is a hard pill to swallow to lose, but we are positioned better after that loss in terms of winning it all than if we had won, especially given the fact that it wasnt a demoralizing loss (the team will feel they shouldve won this game).

The playoff system is so fucked up that we are sitting pretty to be playing football in mid January.

Haynes Fucking King went 26/36 for 303 yards, 2 TDs, 0 INTs, and 110 rushing yards against UGA, with lesser talent all around him. Who would prefer Quinn over Haynes Fucking King, and if so, why is your name Thatguy?

Quinn's 2nd INT was thrown when we were down 3, and UGA proceeded to give it back to us via the Barron INT so that TO actually didn't hurt us. You could easily argue that it should have, but we got lucky.

That shit was on Sark. First down was a Wisner run for nothing. 2nd and long, we run a play action (????)  that was slow developing and ended up being a throw away. 3rd and long, Quinn got desperate.

I have been VERY critical of Quinn on this thread for weeks. I'm not a huge fan. But it's ok to call out our HC and playcaller. Throwing vertically over the middle was working, and he went away from it.

Yeah he did it in Austin I think threw it on 3rd down when he could’ve ran it to run clock but they threw for the 1st and ran out clock. He tried to win it in regulation but kid threw a pick. Meanwhile, you have sark calling fade 3 times and being okay with the field goal. Get 10 yards man.

You just can't consistently win big games against great SEC defense with a guy who isn't mobile. That's not a knock on Quinn because he is who he is but he's not built for what we need when we need that extra yard and the OL breaks down. You have to be somewhat mobile. Even the backup for Georgia could run on us.

Every time they went empty set you knew they were running a QB draw, but we never adjusted to it. It went for 7-9 yards every time, including OT.

Explain to me how a QB that’s much more durable and an infinitely higher threat in the running game would lead us to a worse record this year?
What passing qualities has QE consistently exhibited that are so much better than Sam’s?

He might be marginally better in the intermediate game, but he’s been far too inconsistent to rise head and shoulders about what junior year Sam showed.

QE’s deep ball is not any more impressive than Sam’s was.

Also, Sam racked up his stats DESPITE playing for Tom Herman’s Neanderthal offense… He played a lot of his games with numb shoulders, as he was asked to play fullback as a QB.
The sheer fact that Sam doesn’t fall over when brushed by a TE makes him more of an asset than QE has been since the OU game.

Quinn played well enough to win today.  He is NOT the reason we lost.  That typed, as I said last week, it's really hard to meet our obvious ceiling or potential with him under center.  Now, the stew is already cooked for this year so have to hope he gets hot, but his inability to really move or run to the point he's no threat on ZR's and the fact he typically will compress the field to 25 yards from the LOS really limits the ceiling of the offense.  Tonight, we got 2 plays or air yards more than 25 yards..... that a really good game for him.  You can't lose that type of game.  Let's hope he gets insanely hot especially on 3rd downs in the playoffs.... He wasn't perfect and he still takes bad sacks.  But, he's not the reason we lost today and he was good enough to win.  Too bad the coaching staff wasn't.

I could eat a hot pocket in the amount of time it takes Sam Ehlinger to unload a throw. The everse spin for a 15 yard loss or fb lead for a fumble would be the ranch.
