THE BALL WAS ALREADY IN THE AIR when Moore turned inside. That's what the screen shot is showing you. Moore turned inside AFTER Quinn threw the ball. He wasn't supposed to do that. There is no reason to do that. You have no idea what you're looking at.

1 single screen shot is not a good way to illustrate a point. I am a mere layman who doesn't know shit about X's and O's. But I don't see Moore "turning inside." I see him making his cut, running, and then turning his head - very clearly expecting the ball to be over his inside shoulder and not where Quinn threw it.

Btw if anyone has said that we lost that game only because of Ewers, I haven't seen it. And of course that would be ridiculous. That was a team-wide effort to lose a game we should have won.

Yeah. There are several posts to that effect, but it’s easy to miss them on a thread moving at this pace.

I agree, that is where Moore thought it was going. I'm just saying that Quinn expected him to run to grass away from the defender. Quinn very deliberately threw the ball at Moore's break into the location that he did. It wasn't a miss in the sense that he was aiming somewhere else. Moore had his guy beat wide with a ton of room to work outside. He didn't "cut inside" but his turn did drag him back inside slightly, making it much harder to adjust to where Quinn put the ball. Ultimately, I don't think we can know who messed up. But it is another instance of QB and receiver not being on the same page.

He already had defender beat....just poor quinn....

So Quinn makes shitty pass and it's receivers fault because he should have known Quinn was going to make shitty pass way outside of the route! GOT IT!

I think saying Quinn didn't play well in critical moments understates it. With all the opportunities we had to score in the red zone, ONE more TD out of all those opportunities was not expecting too much, IMO.

We really weren't in the redzone much. We were in Georgia territory, but not the redzone until OT.

Are you able to admit that if Moore just turns to his outside it is a fairly easy adjustment to catch the ball? I don't understand why this has to be militantly anti-Quinn. Receiver and QB weren't on the same page. If either of them acts slightly differently, it is probably a TD. I said it wasn't a great throw, but acting like it was the worst throw of all time is fucking insane. That one play is probably a good illustration of the game generally. A subtle change here or there and we win.

You're asking a guy running full speed down field on a fade to make a 90 degree turn to make a catch on a shitty throw. That's what you're asking. It's amazing he even got close to the ball, that's not an easy adjustment at allI instead of just saying if Quinn throws it more upfield on the slot fade that Moore clearly beats the defender on it's an easy catch. Got it.

Regardless. Multiple opportunities to score. The QB drives the bus.

I'm not discounting that Quinn played better in this game. Not consistently, but he had flashes of poise and pocket presence not really evident for quite some time. But he also succumbed to pressure frequently.

And I also think that we win without some of the boneheaded gimme penalties to the biased refs. And Guilbeau's lack of awareness on what would have been a pick six, or Auburn's two missed FGs and Bank's failure to have his crew ready for the fake punt. This game was razor close despite the skewed officiating and our mistakes. But I'm dissappointed in Quinn and think he's capable of better.

He's made back some ground in this game and I hope he continues that trajectory in the playoffs.

I don't know how many times it's be rewashed, but have a non-mobile QB causes substantial issues in the running game with good defensive teams. Georgia1 and Georgia2 out front should have told you.

Now to your videos, how many were in the redzone?

What area have I and others been specifically pointing out as the problem area.

How many TDs did we score in the redzone vs Georgia2?

Are there other areas that need work, yes. Have I denied that at any point, no. Have I also pointed it out multiple times on this very page, yes.

Have you, at any point, acknowledged that Quinn has some issue? Not in this post. Are you willing to acknowledge Quinn had some major issues in the redzone? I'm doubtful.

Are you willing to admit using Arch much more frequently in the redzone against Georgia could have potentially increased our odds of scoring? I'm doubtful.

Is this a binary Quinn only issue? No.

Is our lack of success in redzone against Georgia and other teams during the season something that should be addressed by our HC? Absolutely. Is Arch the answer? Sadly, we don't know but MAYBE. Should we know the answer? Absolutely! Is Quinn the answer? No is the clear correct response.

Arch would help in the redzone, especially vs UGA, because our OL can't run block for shit against them. 56 yards rushing from our RBs on 20 carries isn't good enough against anyone and that is amplified when the field is condensed. Run the the zone read, or QB power with Arch and sprinkle in a couple of throws to keep them honest and I think we punch it in at least once given UGAs struggles. I'm completely flummoxed that Sark didn't have that ready to go given the success Arch had vs. a&m and the issues UGA has had defending it this year. That's not on QE, that's a Sark issue & an OL issue for not being able to get yards on the ground. Here's to hoping he was just saving it for the playoffs.

Two of those two times we were immediately knocked out of the redzone due to penalties, not due to Quinn. Other than that, we were in the redzone twice in regulation. Once at the end of the first half and once at the end of the second half. The whole team got beat there. Not just Quinn. That's my only point.

He doesn't need to make a 90 degree turn. You're basing that off of where he ended up after turning to look inside. If he turns to his outside shoulder, he can easily drift toward the ball. The ball only landed a step away from him as it is.  If Moore turns to outside shoulder or if Quinn throws to his inside shoulder, either is a TD. I don't know what way is right for this look in our offense. But I get why Quinn threw it where he did. That's all I'm saying.

You're completely wrong on how the slot fade should be thrown. Just fucking admit it was a terrible throw and gave receiver no chance. See video above for how a slot fucking fade should be thrown because that's the same concept we ran and Arch nails the throw. Quinn throws to a predetermined shitty spot. Just stop defending it..

My brother in christ....you're asking Moore to be able to adjust from Between the I and the A on the field to a few yards outside the A in a second. Like that's not possible. at all.

I already said at the very beginning that it wasn't a good throw. It is literally the first thing I said about the play. But there is a pretty big difference in our field position with Arch's throw and Quinn's throw. We were on the opposite hash for Quinn's throw, meaning there was a ton of space to the outside and no defender there. Quinn was throwing to grass . Whether that's an adjustment Sark expects Quinn and the receiver to make there, I have no clue. We lost by inches, play after play on Saturday. Quinn was part of that. But he wasn't the primary problem with our offense.

If you agree it wasn't a good throw then stfu and quit arguing about it defending Quinn about it....

Quinns throw is actually easier than Arch's because Quinns has more room for error unless you completely botch thefucking throw like Quinn did. The tighter window from the LOS to the back of the endzone requires a more accurate ball.

Several times over the season we have seen QB and receivers not on the same page. This miss in OT looks like more of the same.

At a time when there was basically no such term as WR, I was "lonesome end", not in huddle but signaled by QB with a pretty damn simple route tree or just "block". The in/out was dependent on the halfback - I mean "defensive back" - guarding me... he go outside, I go inside or vice versa. Honestly, though, I don't think we threw it more than eight or ten times per game.

This was sixty-odd years ago, but I don't believe that part of the pass game has changed so much... if the defender is inside, I expected the ball outside; if he's outside, I expected it inside.

All that just to say, I don't think Quinn was wrong to throw it outside. Moore should have been looking for it there. Your mileage may vary.

I’ll admit, I’m no expert, and really can't evaluate the play by play as some have.  As a fan, I don’t feel great about Quinn’s performance as a game manager and it has been painful to watch our second half of games this year. Losing to Georgia was a team effort, but as a veteran QB and one of the highest-paid players on the team, I feel like Quinn should be doing more. To me, he doesn’t seem elite or have the "it" factor and turns the ball over too much for a game manager.

When I compare his stats to some random SEC QBs (not even the best ones) and past game managers who won it all, he doesn't measure up. He’s a major liability in the run game and has been turnover-prone. I know some people blame the O-line, the WRs, or even Sark’s play-calling, but the thing is, we’ll never know if Arch could’ve done better because he didn’t get a real shot.  That is why some of us are probably more critical than others.  I hope he proves us wrong but I have also been hoping for Arch to get some meaningful playing time when Quinn falls apart. Neither seems to be happening and it's frustrating with our great defense as we could win it all.

Yep it was. And that leads to the debate of the NFL vs NCAA PI penalty. I see the pros and cons of both. But in NCAA, you are rewarding blatantly mugging the receiver when you get beat and only penalized 15yds. Commit it and only give up 15. The only reason why I don't like the NFL's version, is PI can be so subjective to the ref and WRs are getting better at selling it. Especially these underthrown passes where the WR doesn't even try to make a play but only is wanting to draw the flag. These can be 50-60yd penalties. I feel there has to be a happy medium.

I think it is different when it occurs in the EZ. If that happens place the ball at the two, no matter how far the ball is thrown, i.e. Texas would have gotten the ball at the two.

For any other PI, 15 yards is ok.

2023 JJ McCarthy also didn't throw the ball for like 2+ games at the end of the regular season. Seriously he had like 3 pass attempts per game.

If this throw is to the inside shoulder of Moore between the I and the A of "GEORGIA" it's a touchdown. Instead the ball is thrown so shitty to 3 yards outside of the bottom of the A. Look how fucking bad the defender is beat and there isn't a safety close to making a play at all.

BECAUSE QUINN WAS THROWING TO HIS PREDETERMINED SPOT! Like holy fuck man, he was under no pressure and could ahve put it in the correct spot. It is an absolutely shitty throw

Even the announcers noted that becaues of the throw he'd have to make a Willy Mays catch.

He threw to a predetermined spot another time during the game. I wanna say it was 3rd down. On the left side. Don’t remember when in the game. Just lobbed it over and the wr didn’t have a chance. But he was open.

Hahaha. The DB clearly redirects Moore for 1 or 2 steps and he just glosses over it.

What are you talking about? Field position was almost identical. The only difference I can see is LOS is on the 12.5 yard line vs. the 14 yard line.

Arch play - ball is snapped from the left hash, Cook is lined up on the right hash.

Quinn play - left hash, Moore is lined up on the right hash.

Throwing to a pre determined spot is a non sensical criticism. Anytime a QB throws to a receiver prior to a route break, the QB is throwing to a pre determined spot. The question is whether it is the right spot. Both QB and receiver have to be on the same page. Ours have had issues with this all season.

A predetermined read would be a different issue if that is what you're thinking of.

No. No, I don't. I expect to go to a spot, and I run to that spot. I'd like to be between the dback and the ball, so he has to go through me to get to the ball. Whether that's long or outside, I don't care as long as I'm between the dback and the ball. If I don't have a good chance to catch it, I'd expect to see if I can get the dback to PI me.

I did. That was Arch, and was that Cook, before he fired himself? The ball location looked pretty much the same. Cook got there, Moore didn't. Yes, Cook looked inside, but he had better separation. All in all, it looks like Moore just stayed too far inside. If he'd looked the other way, I think he'd have caught it, but I suppose he's beencoached to look inside, although apparently not to run to the spot. I'd have to go back and look again... but I'm not really in the mood to get involved in another dumbass and pointless argument.

Maybe it would somehow be more productive to discuss the pros and cons of running yet another horizontal run/pass play for plus or minus a couple of yards.

The silver lining here is that we're still on track, and then we'll have a different quarterback to bitch about next season.

Our offensive line particularly G C G got whipped again by most opinions for the second time this year, both against Georgia. The team made too many mental errors and still should have won. I'm a bit bummed. QE shares some blame but by no means is he the main culprit. Good news is there may only be one team in the country that can do that to us.

And for the love of god can we recover just half of our forced fumbles. This may be a bad take but I hope we see GA in the NC and somehow figure out how to beat them on the biggest stage.

I actually think there is a lot to this. It really is a hard angle to track. The moonballs are better than what he did 2022 where the ball was thrown too hard to give the receiver any chance to adjust. But they aren't easy to follow.

8 minutes ago, CurlyDumps said:

Yeah. One I thing I do note: both Quinn and Arch placed the ball about 2 yards from the sideline in those plays. Moore is running way inside of that track. Now, he did line up just inside the right hash while Cook (?) was lined up just outside of the hash on Arch's play, so maybe that is difference right there.
