The constant is Sark my man. And while we have had good running backs, our running scheme isn't and hasn't been about bully ball. The stuff Sark does just doesn't work as well in the redzone. His 2020 Alabama offense could turn to bully ball when it needed to. We haven't been able to. Our line just hasn't been good at that.

I don't understand your insistence that everything be on our QB. It is perplexing. But I also know you're just trolling and for whatever reason get a kick out of trolling our own fans. It is sad and pathetic, but you do you.

Yea, Sark has to own some of this.  But hey we're 11-2 and in the playoffs.

Hey man, how about not jumping in the middle of a conversation you ain't having if you're not going to bother paying attention? I'm simply responding to the idea that we could have replaced Quinn with any joe quarterback over the last 3 years and had the same success. It is a nonsense argument. Quinn has been a good QB for us.

You're splitting hairs.  Nobody is saying you can just grab anyone, what they are saying is relative to the surrounding talent, star-rankings, and hype around QE, he has vastly underperformed.  There are dozens of lower rated QB's that are playing at a much higher level around the country right now that most fans would trade straight up for.

I don't hate Ewers.  I want him to succeed.  I also want him to quit making the same GD mistakes he's been making over the last two seasons.  I assume he wants to play in the NFL.  Can we start with making quicker reads?  Consistent footwork?  Consistent throwing motion?  These are the bare bones stuff scouts will need to address.  How are they still a thing?

The kicker missed 2 makable kicks and receivers dropped was it one or two touchdowns? What is your point? People decide to pick one particular play to "prove" a point. It's nonsense.

Our 'experts' here can break down various plays to a frame-by-frame analysis and talk about how the player should have lifted his left leg and moved two feet the left. It's very entertaining, actually.

Recap.

You started by responding to my post and said "we won 6-3 when Beck was playing..." which was wrong.
I posted a clever meme ... "not sure I agree with your police work."

You challenged that with another post which was wrong.  Then, you edited it, because it was wrong.

And then you fire off with the "dumbass?"

To all of that noise I say:

MargeCarMeme.png

because it was entirely disingenuous and pointless as it related to your original question. and a dumbass point that we lost to a qb with a lower qb rating than quinn. we did not lose to beck. we lost to stockton and quinn as sad as it is to say.

So Beck missed half the game and was involved in the same amount of TDs as Ewers who played the entire game.

sadly, we are saddled with a mediocre at best qb who can usually put together one quarter of decent play per game and is otherwise a total liability and incapable of making any big plays in the clutch. it sucks. oh well. so many high hopes after the solid performances against okstate and michigan.

Yep. And before anyone points out record I think it’s fair to say our offensive performance in the second half is underwhelming

Once you are on campus star rankings mean fuck all. They never get brought up in the NFL. I understand some think he isn't living up to expectations but damn, we are in a much better place now than before he got here. That wasn't all him either but he has certainly played his part. I will go ahead and apologize to all longhorn fans that I am sorry Quinn Ewers has failed to live up to your individual expectations.

You don't have to have bully ball....just need a QB who doesn't suck ass at throwing in tight windows in the redzone.

How about you don't have a pussy ass offensive line that can't run block anywhere on the field against Georgia? Running the ball maters. Georgia should have proven that to you. Both games they played us.

You need a better running game than 31 yards rushing. How many did they have on us? In fact I we are probably the only playoff team that has rushed for 31 yards in a game this season. But keep fucking that chicken.

I never expect a college kicker to make every 50+ FG. The numbers dont back that. it is coin flip at best. It was amazingly lucky Bert had a chance at that FG. Then is was unlucky that he hit it and a penalty made him re-kick that. College kicker going 4-5 inside of 50 yards is not a terrible game, but feel free to shit on him if you must.

So Quinn's season is very similar to his 1st half vs second half performances....gets shittier as it goes.

It's actually quite astonishing as it goes on.....he's better on 1st and second down, shitty on 3rd and 4th. Good in first half of games, shitty in second half and especially shitty in 4th quarters. Good in the first few months but gets shitty....

One would think as the season goes on you'd generally perform better.

Quite interesting numbers

Sam would be an upgrade this year, at least post injury. I don't know about last year. Quinn played pretty fucking well. But that's sort of my point, Sam isn't just a joe schmoe QB. He was, particularly for our offense, a very good college QB.

There were points in 2022 and 2023, maybe even in early 2024, that Quinn looked like a future 1-1 pick.

He barely looks draftable at this point.

His job is to kick FGs and extra points. He hasn't been very good at his job this year. Statistical fact.

I was discussing this game. That is the difference. I have continually said Quinn did not lose this game. In fact no single player lost this game for Texas in my opinion.  You are so lathered up in this Quinn shit, you are looking to blame anyone and everyone for the loss not named Quinn.

Of all the playoff teams only one has less rushing yards than we have on the season and that's GA. We are achieving those shitty ass rushing numbers despite teams deciding to stay back in coverage. With the way teams choose to line up against us we should average 200 a game but we are 64th in the country despite every opposing defense choosing to keep 2 to 3 DBs at safety depth even when we are in 12 personnel. But here we are arguing with these clowns.

I missed the stop at the end against OU. I wish it had happened.

Even though we didn't have an elite total defense, we had a very good run defense that made many teams one dimensional. We also out talented every team in the fucking BDF. If our culture had not been so fucked up until last year, we would have won a lot more games in that shifty conference.

Certainly not true. Quinn had chances to win this game with some help and he didn't get it done.

Huh? You compared Quinn’s qbr and Beck’s qbr and said we lost despite better qb play from quinn compared to beck. The last play of the game for Beck was the last play of the first half. When he went out of the game, Texas was winning 6-3. Not sure what you’re confused by.
I guess you could argue the overtime handoff but, I mean…

Texas didn’t seem prepared for him to hand the ball off either. Which was weird.

I think our offense is bad in the redzone. I don't think it is all Quinn. Sark's schemes just don't work as well in a compressed field. We rely on explosives and when you're within the 20, you don't have room for those explosives. A running QB may open things up that Sark isn't able to do with our current team. I think 90% of our redzone problems are a lack of any real power rushing attack. If we had absolutely exceptional QB play, we could get around it. But that doesn't mean our inability to score is because of the QB.

You're right and what I'm about to say is not trying to be argumentative.

If I had to think of the best and most important individual play by a Texas QB this year, I would say it was the Arch TD vs. A&M. 4th and 2 from the 15. If Arch isn't in right there, who knows if we get the first down or not. Hell, if Arch would have been tackled for a 3 yard gain and a first down, it's possible we don't score a TD (based on recent red zone issues). When you watch that run again, he didn't try to get a first down. He tried to score a TD. And it was an impressive athletic display with toughness to get to the pylon.

The point is he showed the killer instinct. We scored because of an individual effort by Arch. Be aggressive, break their fucking will. Quinn doesn't show that type of mental toughness. I like him, he's got a cool demeanor that's probably helpful to the team in some ways. But football is an emotional game filled with momentum swings. We need our QB to lead. Players feed off of it .

Last year's team and this, with Sam Ehlinger, you can make the argument is looking for back-to-back MNC's.  QE is a good, but not great college QB.  He struggles massively with making quick reads, recognizing defensive coverages, and staying healthy.  He's not willing any team to victory.  He's good enough to maintain success, but with the weapons around him, he's woefully inadequate.  Hell, I'd argue a healthy David Ash on this team performs better than a healthy QE.

Holy revisionist history. Sam, while a longhorn legend and a brief glimpse of hope amidst a decade of pure QB trash, was nowhere near great. We're not in the Big 12 championship last year with Sam & let's not even start with David Ash. This is aggy level of delusion/wishcasting. You can point out all the flaws with Quinn you want, there are plenty to choose from, but that shit is just absurd.

I was being facetious with that comment. I think I said recently I see him toward the back end of round 3 at the highest....Most likely 4th-5th. Unless there is a really retarded GM and takes him in round 2.

That was literally what the post I was originally responding to said. And his post wasn't just about this year, but the last 3 years. I called bullshit on it. Quinn hasn't been consistently good since coming back from injury. But he was damn good last year (and at the beginning of this year).  If he meant we could replace him with "some of the very best college quarterbacks over the last 3 seasons and have similar success" I'm fine with it, which is what I said as well. You're jumping in the middle of a conversation and not understanding the context.

I do feel for Quinn. He was so fucking solid vs. Michigan, and deservedly in the early season Heisman talk at the time. Then he comes out on fire vs. UTSA (I feel like 14 of our first 15-16 plays were passes) and was on his way to a 250-300 yard first half. Post-injury he just hasn't been able to find that juice again.

Quinn is going to go to the NFL where pretty much everyone has a running game and O-lines don't bust protection frequently and be just fine. He isn't a runner but he can throw on the move and is really accurate in the intermediate and quick game. On a team that can't consistently run the football he struggles but that dude looks like a world beater when he gets good blocking and the defense has to respect the running game. We are mad at him for not being able to play hero ball but that's not what the NFL wants from a QB.

Do you watch NFL at all? Quinn’s shit pocket presence, mechanics, and lack of mobility will get him crushed.

No fucking way he makes any plays that Joe Burrow makes behind that shitty Bengals OL

every QB in the league makes  plays with their legs and extends plays using their legs.

Off schedule plays made are what separates QBs in that league.

You take the criticism too seriously. We are all Texas fans. We're on a message board and like to argue. Every single person here wants Quinn to be the man and lead us to a NC this year. But some of us are not gonna put our heads in the sand when you see consistent issues that stand in the way.

But, but NIL he is making. So what, get over yourselves. Any Texas QB in this era is gonna make bank and slay all the pussy he wants. Haters gonna hate I guess.
