Will Arch be better next year than QE has ever been at Texas? - Yes

Does QE make mistakes that a 3-year starter, who has had the same coaches & system, should not make? - Yes

Is there anything other than a major injury that will convince Sark to play Arch instead of QE? - No

Now lock this f***ing thread.

I just wonder if that is a 1 wr route. Numbers favor working the trip side. Cb was able to re-route Wingo to the numbers (He tried to get an outside release, surprise Georgia is coached well). Not ton of room there.

Look at these screenshots I took....Wingo is open for a pass that is on a rope.

If this is put on Wingo it's a catch and he we likely looking at 3rd and about 4-6. Instead he lofts to the endzone for no god damn reason.

You want to see loaded boxes, put Arch in. If they use him more, he is going to have to throw the ball some to lighten that box. I also wouldn't mind a 5 wide empty set draw from Arch. Exactly what Georgia did to us with their backup of course Makuba almost decapitated him.

All this BS is really interesting and all, but Quinn is at his best when teams play off. 1st half of Vandy was a great example. Texas ate them up underneath and in that game. Georgia is bit different animal. They went cover 3 and a lot of 2 man. I would love teams to play a soft cover 4 vs Texas in the playoffs.

I'll spell it out for you, though. The final drive of regulation or OT.

Nah, you have made your position clear, you come in here and dog on a kid because he didn't meet your expectations as a "perfect" recruit. He couldn't win by himself, he needs help just like every other QB. He failed to make a good throw and decision late in that game but if others would have stepped up and not made mistakes, dropped passes, missed kicks earlier in the game, he wouldn't have been in that situation in the first place.

So true......so true....

Colt would crush it with this amount of talent on the team. But then again when we didn't have a plus running game during games Colt would do it with his legs. We can't ask that of Quinn because he's a pussy statue.

x's/o's blah blah blah. The offense lacks tempo, Quinn's plays passively, and this genius offense has stopped scoring TDs. The trajectory of the program is phenomenal but the offense has been constipated for weeks now. Wake up Sark and get in Quinn's face.

I don't expect Quinn to be "perfect" at all. You just make stuff up. Your arguments on here have been more disingenuous than the people that go overboard with criticism.

This is Surly. You want rah-rah bullshit all the time, maybe a 9.95 site is more your speed.

I'm disingenuous? You say that only because I disagree with you. I'll take the high road and support our HC and QB. Feel free to be a douche, nothing stopping you.

I can't speak for everyone, but I find myself very frustrated that we would be the prohibitive favorites to win a national championship with say Dillon Gabriel or Jaxson Dart level QB play. We're having to scheme around what we have at QB and the result is scoring in the teens. And not in that fun Matt Gaetz way either.

I get that. That is not an easy throw with the Safety coming over the top, especially with an inside release from Wingo. If Wingo cooked him on an outside release I get it. I am pretty sure you would agree that the throw to Golden is much lower degree of difficulty. I am just wondering the progressions here or more to the point is there a progression on this play. I will say I did not expect @Longhornlove to say this was a bad read and you argue that Quinn made the right read. Its like bizarro world

We played two very good defenses back to back. I don't foresee any immediate competition that should result in complete ineptitude on offense. We should have blown A&M out barring a continued 3rd quarter calamity of errors.

I should’ve said 5 pick sixes or throw those 5 deep in their  territory like we did against Georgia. I find it hard to believe Oregon has the same defensive players that Georgia have also

I think Quinn pre-snap decides to go to Wingo because of how the corners are playing, off Bond or Golden up top and up tight against Wingo.  If you don't have off coverage up top and the safety has to assist , I think the play is Helm in the seam (but he falls over anyways).

JFC you fucking retard, I just fucking stated he had errors. I have pointed out multiple occasions or agreed that he made mistakes. Stop sucking everyone else's dick and admit he isn't the only one causing issues on offense. Peer offensive line play against, Georgia, running backs with fumble issues. Horrid special teams play and receivers dropping passes, and not running routes as designed. This isn't the QE offense, this is the Texas offense.

Quinn is a mind fuck. Thats why this thread is so active.

We have a world beater defense, so we automatically say everyone is screwed because we have offensive wizard and QB guru Sark. And to go with his credentials, our donors money whipped a 1.000 rated homegrown #1 overall QB who is in his third season as a starter, has all the pieces around him he needs, and is a heisman contending dr pepper commercial media darling.

Season plays out and half the time all that hype makes sense with his wizard throws and pure arm talent, and half the time he looks like hot hammered shit. Not game to game, not half to half, not quarter to quarter. Play to play. Statistically hes nothing more than solidly above average. Trying hard not to be a spoiled fan because the only reason we have these expectations is because so many have ponied up $$$ and brought us back, but its kind of a bitter pill to swallow that we are falling short of a dominant season due to the offense and the QB.

You think teams will stack the box against a guy that’s shown he can beat coverage downfield?

Yes. 100% they (they being a team in the playoff) would do this until he shows he can beat it with any consistency against a real team.

Yes. Are ULM and Mississippi State your "proof" that he can beat coverage downfield? Who didn't beat those teams downfield would be a better question? You actually thing teams would play soft coverage against Arch when all he has done recently is run the ball? Quinn has thrown the ball pretty well deep the last couple of games. The theory that he can't complete a deep pass has been proven a myth. Doesn't mean he is great at it but odd no one has mentioned that lately huh?

Helm is done. He is going straight up the hash. I assume with the intent is to occupy his man and the safety. He isnt looking to split the safeties. That allows Golden to the crosser in man underneath.

The other one was open too but under thrown.  So no that’s not on play calling like some want to say, It is what it is as this point.  Need some defensive scores in the playoffs especially vs teams that can stop the dink and dunk and screens.

I thought he would to but I'm not gonna shit on the kid, I will defend him. I will take the high ground, you do whatever the fuck you want I guess.

Again, Moore is in the wrong spot here. He runs that route correctly and he is much closer to where Quinn threw the ball. The ball is under thrown, but it is also a route running error.

So it was a post to pylon or a curl to the pylon?  Sure, Ok….  Looks much more like adjusting to a bad pass than a planned deep pass to the front corner of the end zone.  If I’m throwing a post I wouldn’t throw it to the front corner of the end zone.

Interesting....If it was me I'm throwing it out in front of where my receiver is toward the back of the endzone even out of the break. Ya know, to at least give my guy a chance to make a play....not throw it to a spot where you'd have to be the elastic man to make a play. Not toward the front of the end zone 4 yards from the sideline.

Helm stumbles because he is cutting inside the safety (and possibly being held, but we never get a closer shot of it). I think he is absolutely trying to split the safeties. But yes, given how it played out, the next read would have been the crosser.  As I said, I think Quinn saw the off coverage up top and decided to go to Wingo, so none of that ended up mattering.

Quinn has a hell of an arm. That is one of the most frustrating things about his game. The Worthy out route vs Bama as  freshman was a throw half the NFL Qbs cannot make. Texas was running 18 yard curls last year (dont see them much this year for some reason). That is because of his ability to put it on a rope in the intermediate game. Those were the throws that had him a 5 star QB and an expected top 10 pick preseason. It is frustrating, because he rarely uncorks it. He tends to feather the ball most the time. Probably part of the reason he has struggled in the red zone. The ability to drive the ball is certainly in him for some reason he does not do it.

The ball was already in the air. Quinn threw it when Moore cut. Quinn can't know Moore is going to stay so far inside. He isn't supposed to do that. Yes, if Quinn holds on to the ball longer, he can adjust the throw. But I'm pretty sure Sark wants Quinn throwing with anticipation at the break rather than holding on to the ball. Criticize him for under throwing it. Don't criticize him for things that would be bad football (holding on to the ball). Bad throw, bad route.
