Wait till the arch thread takes over when Trey Owens should be playing more. I figured after his first interception as our new qb.

It is really rare for this conversation to happen to a 3 year starter. Last I think of is Chris Simms.

Here is the PFF grades for the remaining QBs in the playoffs.

8. Stockton: Offense: 57.6Pass: 54.7Run: 61.6Overall Rank: Not ranked

7. Ewers: Offense: 72.0Pass: 71.2Run: 56.2Overall Rank: 154

Ewers is either really good or he's getting benched in favor of Arch Manning. There's no in between. For the season, Ewers has 2,867 passing yards to go with 28 touchdowns, but 10 big interceptions. Texas can go all the way, but only if Ewers is on.

6. Maddux: Offense: 75.9Pass: 72.1Run: 69.1Overall Rank: 110

5. Howard: Offense: 84.2Pass: 84.2Run: 61.7Overall Rank: 43

4. Allar: Offense: 85.5Pass: 82.2Run: 75.0Overall Rank: 35

3. Leonard: Offense: 85.6Pass: 75.9Run: 83.2Rank: 34

2. Gabriel: Offense: 89.9Pass: 89.3Run: 63.3Overall Rank: 16

1. Leavitt: Offense: 90.1Pass: 85.6Run: 78.1Overall Rank: 15

Chat GPT, why is the Quinn Ewers quarterback thread on the surlyhorns.com blog so contentious and do you have any suggestions on how we can improve the toxic interactions?

The Quinn Ewers quarterback thread on SurlyHorns.com has become contentious due to several factors:

  1. High Expectations and Performance Scrutiny: As the starting quarterback for the Texas Longhorns, Quinn Ewers is under intense scrutiny. Fans' high expectations can lead to critical discussions, especially following losses or perceived underperformance.

  2. Diverse Fan Opinions: Sports forums attract fans with varying perspectives. Disagreements over Ewers' performance, leadership, and future with the team can escalate into heated debates.

  3. Anonymous Posting: The anonymity of online forums can embolden individuals to express opinions more bluntly or aggressively than they might in person, contributing to a toxic environment.

To improve interactions within the thread, consider the following strategies:

  • Promote Constructive Dialogue: Encourage users to share opinions respectfully and focus on evidence-based discussions rather than personal attacks.

  • Implement Moderation Tools: Utilize moderators to monitor discussions, address violations promptly, and maintain a positive environment.

  • Encourage Empathy: Remind users that players are human and that constructive criticism is more beneficial than harsh negativity.

By fostering a respectful and supportive community, the quality of discussions can improve, leading to more meaningful and less contentious interactions.

ChatGPT missed one.

4. The Pussy Factor: The projection defensive mechanism is rampant on that thread since several posters keep calling Quinn a pussy.

Living in Nashville since 1993, Jeff Fisher is a mother fucking cunt after what he did to VY while he was here.  VY had some issues sure but Fisher so hated VY and the fact that Bud Adams forced him to pick VY verses Matt Lienert, who he wanted, it seemed his purpose in life was to prove Bud Adams wrong and helped destroy the franchise and it's never recovered and now we are building a $2,000,000,000 stadium complex to lure the Super Bowl here.😑  Fisher the prick is still tied at number 1 with 165 losses and also has a whopping 51% winning percentage....fucker.

Troy Aikman on the Ticket said that, in his opinion, 75% of the failed QB’s in the NFL could have been successful had they received coaching from someone who knew how to use their talents best.

It immediately caused me to think about Fisher/Young. He said that without Norv Turner Aikman would have busted out of the league within a few years.

It truly is terrible how Fisher mismanaged a QB who could have had a career like Lamar Jackson. It pisses me off every time I think about it.

Jeff Fisher nearly caused Nick Foles to quit football before Foles went on to win a Super Bowl. He was an incredibly toxic, untalented coach.

That said, VY was also his own worst enemy who sabotaged his own career.

A ton of athletic QBs from the 90s and 2000s would be so good if they played in the modern league and weren't forced to conform to the NFL norms of the time.

Yeah but Fisher was the worst of the NFL norms of the time. Dude made every QB look pedestrian, even his good ones. He also never wanted to spend money on offensive players. I cannot remember a single receiver that VY played with there. I think they were all JAGs.

Mack would have been welcomed back if he accepted his fate instead of sabotaging efforts to remove him. Mack is looking out for Mack and looking for his next gravy train.

No kidding. Had he just bowed out after losing to Bama, he’d probably have a statue somewhere, or at least a plaque. As it stands, they could put a picture of his face in the urinals for all I care.

USC QB was pretty terrible, they just had people wide open at the end. Most of those yards came while playing from behind and chuncking the ball in the fourth. Point was we won’t come close to games with such low passing yard totals next year. It’s not bias, Quinn is down 50 yards per game average from last year…  I wish he was half living up to all the hype as much as anyone else, but he’s not and has held the offense back.  He’s been serviceable this year and a game manager, the people saying otherwise are the ones with blind biases.

You guys fail to understand how offenses work. Fantasy football has ruined people's idea of quarterbacking. We are a pro-style, back control offense. When things are working well we are never going to throw it a lot because we prefer to run the ball. When things aren't working right we are dropping back in long yardage situations. This isn't a 5-wide, throw it all over the place offense. Quit trying to judge it that way.

Whoever said this offense is not complicated has no idea what they are talking about. It is a lot harder to throw the football with less receivers because the windows get tighter and the reads get harder. That's why completion percentages went through the roof when spread offenses were at their peak. Teams were spreading people out and taking the easy completion. That's what Colt was doing. You judge a QB by their ability to read and deliver the ball and how many throws they have in their bag. Yards and such and every Tech QB would've got drafted.

Ok….  Just answer the question do you think the passing offense will have more yards per game next year or not?  If not I’ll bet you $200 they do…. The main difference will be your family member not at qb.

All kidding aside, Trey Owens should be our starter next year. It may seem controversial, but there is a direct historical parallel if one thinks back about the voyage of the Rusian Baltic Fleet during the Russo-Japanese War. I don't have time to fully break it all down right now. At 7:30pm, there is a Chinese businessman who will pay me $200.00 if I choke him while he runs his fingers through my hair.

Here is what I know. We can look at THIS year, you know, when both QBs have the benefit of playing with the same players. We saw Arch in 3 outings. 2 against terrible opponents. 1 against Georgia. Arch threw for 325 and 2TDs vs MSU. Quinn threw for 333 and 5 TDs in roughly 3 qtrs. He could've thrown for 400. At no time this year has Arch looked better than Quinn when playing comparable teams. Next year Arch could throw for more than Quinn but it will be a completely different team.

Once again, just answer the question or take the bet….  lol.   It won’t be a big upgrade in line or WR or RB.  We also had 5 games under 218 passing yards this year…   You can point to one game all you want.

We have evidence from this very year so why are we talking about next year when Quinn is no longer here? We have kids coming in and people who got hurt coming back. What do you mean no upgrade at WR or RB? Baxter isn't an upgrade? Again, at no point has Arch looked better than Quinn against like comp.

In his second career start, Arch Manning helped elevate the Texas Longhorns to their fifth win of the season and their first in SEC play.

The quarterback attacked the Mississippi State defense with a 26-31 completion rate, 324 yards and two touchdowns. Manning also added a touchdown on the ground to go with 33 yards on six rushing attempts.

With that, Pro Football Focus (PFF) announced on Monday that Manning's performance was ranked as the highest-graded performance for power four quarterbacks in Week 5 with a 94.2 grade. (out of 100) grade.

The 94.2 grade is not only the highest grade for power-four quarterbacks in week 5 but also the highest grade of the entire season.

Arch had the best Power 4 QB grade in a single game through 5 weeks? Not bad!

Arch literally has close to 1/3 of Quinn’s passing yards and TD’s in 2.5 games…. Wtf are you talking about?  I’m not trying to make this a this year Arch should start conversation, it’s about next year in what I said.  Everyone, including me is hoping for Quinn to do great going forward but the last 6 games haven’t been that.  You’re blind Quinn glasses are amazing, you have to be kin to him with the amount your replies to this thread and what you say. ..   The offense also run by Sark isn’t a pro style run based offense, it is this year due to him coaching around Ewers limitations this year….  No years of his at Bama would be described as that.

It's not his height he's just not feeling the game.

Watch his tape he pre-determines where he's going to throw, and he doesn't adjust his throw based on what is happening. I don't think it's that he's not seeing it, he's just playing with zero feel. He can make great anticipatory throws and great arm talent throws, but only if it's exactly how they practice it. If there needs to be multiple reads or needs to change throw angle or location, probably wont happen.

He either throws to the guy and location where he was going to throw at the snap, or he panics and gets sacked.

I guess that no look pass at Michigan never happened. Throw to Blue in aTm game…

Who cares if you define this offense as “pro style.” Every offense prefers to run the ball if the run game is working. Spurrier’s Fun’n’Gun and Urban’s spread offenses both produced a lot of rushing yards and NFL caliber running backs. It’s how you control the clock and grind opponents down. But when the run game is ineffective, elite QBs can put the team on their back. Quinn is more of an excellent bus driver to guide the offense as long as things are going well. As long as Quinn is our QB, we collectively hold our breath that the run game works and/or we get up multiple scores on our opponents so we don’t need a transcendent QB to go win the game in the 4th quarter.

I agree he played really good in the aggy game too besides the two turnovers. The scramble early was good and pass to Golden was awesome.

Arch went 55/78 (70.5%) for 901 yards, 9 TDs and 2 INTs in his 4 appearances before Quinn returned to start against OU.  I really don't care if he was facing Mary Hardin Baylor, Concordia, McCallum HS and our women's soccer team, those are good stats, and this is a nice "problem" to have.

Who is the pussy on the internet whining about their CFP QB getting to play in front of their fanboy crush because they love his last name?

It's a dumb question because we will be a totally different offense next year. We are adding more receivers. Getting our 5 star RB back. We should be a better offense as a whole no matter who the quarterback is.

That is a take. Texas has an OL ranked 7th in run blocking and #1 in pass protection by PFF. There are few situations in the country better for a QB than at Texas this year. Texas is going to lose 4 starters off that OL, maybe 5. Going from arguably the best OL in the country to possibly replacing all 5 starters and you think the offense should be better? This is a take straight out of fantasy football, where skill positions are all that matter

And we lose our best TE since Irby(if you include what could of been) or Finley.

My favorite take on this page is using weak competition as a negative to why a player put up good stats vs them. No shit you're supposed to put up good to great stats vs weaker competition, it's when you struggle vs you weaker competition that causes the concern(see this year)
