Not gonna happen and we should probably file away this talking point. Sark gets in trouble when he's overthinking it IMO. If anything, he probably needs to pare things down.

I think we see Sark fully  unload the bag for this game as this is game will likely be the one that crowns the champion. The other side of the bracket should not scare anyone playing/coaching in this game.

The funny thing is, I do believe this but if Texas somehow wins I could also see them
Losing in the championship game because they don’t step on the necks of their opponents when given the chance. I think they could easily beat ND/Penn state. Georgia who knows but if they keep all these teams in games, they could lose.

Also if Ohio state wins, 100% winning the whole thing.

At one point didn't he almost always overthrow it?

I feel like he’s overcompensated for overthrowing In the past. This is a his who has a TikTok video throwing it 75 yards in high school. He’s obviously got the arm strength but seems to rainbow long passes when he has too much time to think about it.

Quinn in last five minutes of game & overtime:

11-14
161 yards
2 TDs

Both TD's were perfect throws. Because the first OT TD throw saved the season, less has been said about the throw to Helm, but it was truly perfection.

How do you like that, Sam Leavitt?

The throw to Helm happened so suddenly. It almost seemed like a replay. It was a great play actually that seems to have been lost in the discussion completely, ironically because it’s actually the game winning throw.

Man watching those Ewers highlights, I got reminded of how many really high level throws he made he made yesterday.  Threw to some tight windows and to the credit of the WR, they made tough catches.

There are times when he shows you that five star ability. Like those last three passes yesterday.

Probably because the damn broadcast came back to the game as Helm was catching the ball so no one knew what the fuck was going on.

Right. That’s what I thought. They cut into it right as the ball was snapped right?

I was very apprehensive about OT because I figured a team that could consistently grind out first downs running the ball had a big advantage.

That quick TD was a relief.  I didn’t think this would ever be one of those 7 OT games.  Neither team wanted to rely on their kicker and these offenses both showed they can be stopped.  It wasnt a “no defense” game where you’re just gonna stand toe to toe and trade easy TDs.

Yeah but so many more than that. One that stands out was the 4th and 2 conversion where he threw it to the left sideline.  A terrible, low probability play but he made a money throw and WR went up and got it.

I know people on here are tired of me but Quinn is a different QB when Sark lets him loose and opens it up. We see it game after game. Slow developing play action and passing out of 12 personnel? Quinn looks like "holding the offense back" Quinn. Open it up, keep him facing the play, and spread the field? Guy looks like Michigan Quinn. Deep ball is still ugly but he was roping those other throws. We absolutely should be running out of spread formation and forcing teams to handle the run game while forcing their defense to align sideline to sideline, but Sark loves his playbook a little too much. So here is to watching us trot out against Ohio State in a bunch formation. Making sure that everybody on the defense only had to run 6 yards to the football. Cheers.

We will need 8 full quarters from Quinn and the offense to achieve that. I hope we put it together when it matters most.

That would be a pleasant surprise. Consistency is not a word one generally uses to describe the Texas offense. ASU secondary could not cover anyone. I do not think we will see guys consistently open like that again.

I wouldn't be so sure. Ohio State has faced very little in the way of decent offense. Go look at their schedule. Gabriel threw for 300 both times he played them. The only other solid QB was Allar but we know how they play against good comp. I don't think they have been tested much like everyone was accusing us. They were also held to 21 or less by every good defense they played this year. We have a chance if we can score 20 and our defense holds up.

The two point conversion throw was awesome too, didn't end up needing it, but could have been critical.

2nd time was 300 yards of garbage. OSU safeties are arguably the best unit in the country. The CBs can be had. The one is very grabby. The biggest difference is OSU is going to get pressure with their front 4. They have NFL guys also. That was one reason that I said Quinn would play well vs ASU. I didnt think ASU could get pressure on Quinn (I also thought Texas would run on them, that was wrong). I dont think Texas needed to run vs ASU (No pressure and not much tight coverage).  They will need to at least hit on a couple runs vs OSU. Not so much down to down success running vs OSU. Its when things are blocked up, the RBs have to hit the correct hole, and make a safety miss. Needs to be 20+ yards, not 7.

Until these last few games Ohio state has been struggling getting home with their front four.

They are #3 in sacks/game. Sawyer and Tuimoloau have 24 sacks off the edge.

outside zone is the staple of his offense and what everything is built off of.

Historically that isn't remotely the case for a Sark offense. It is inside zone his offense typically revolves around.

I wonder if the offense reverts to that next year

Oregon as shown was the 9th best defense in college football, again not exactly trash.

I don't believe in any big10 defensive rankings. Look at their schedule and the offenses theyve faced.

You can run more RPOs off IZ and it doesn't expose your QB as much. I hate RPOs off OZ.

I'm convinced QE is better suited to a spread offense. Bad things happen when he turns his back to the defense. We have to stop using those slow developing plays, they are ending more drives than yards they produce.

I don't think we ran one RPO yesterday did we? I might have been heavily influenced by alcohol.

A lot of play action but I cannot remember any

Odd we haven't been doing much of that. Quinn appears to be pretty good at it.

I don’t think he is super comfortable throwing over the middle of the field. It’s probably why you don’t see a ton of traditional in breaking routes. Thinking about all the tipped balls and tight window throws. Doesn’t really seem like his strength.

It was. Pretty sure  the sack was one also. I am sure there were more. Sark has run a lot more play action with Quinn, than RPO

1 Street to Peschel to basically win a national title in 69.

2. 4th and 2 yards, Street to Cotton Speyrer inside 5 yard-line vs Notre Dame in 1970 Cotton Bowl. Clock running down, last chance, pass complete. Two plays later, Texas runs it in for winning TD.

3 Quinn 4th and 13 to win a CFP matchup - Being a playoff game gives it the notch over roll left

4. Roll Left to win a big 12 title

5 Colt to Cosby to win the Fiesta Bowl

6 Vince to Sweed at the shoe at night!

Excellent list of top pass plays, but there is one that most all older Longhorns forget (or younger ones don't know about). The Street to Speyrer pass that I inserted in your list. Speyrer makes diving catch as Street threw ball only where it could be caught and not be tipped by Domer DB.

Cotton Bowl win secures the 1969 national title against ALL doubters. Lose this game and Arky win is lessened by a huge factor. Hell, ND would claim a national title, too. Along with Penn State.

To be total legend, ya gotta win titles!
