He was hurt to a point that he probably shouldn’t have been in the game but we’re talking about the most flagged olinemen in the nation. You would hope 5 could manage 4 in that situation. Cam and Connor got embarrassed in less than a second with the season on the line.

Is there anything definitive pointing to him not being fully recovered other than supposition? I get that Goosby was less than stellar against ASU, so there is reason to believe that it was a decision of suboptimal options available. I wonder if Cam will ever realize his full potential.

As a general rule, I don’t have ill will towards any Longhorns as long as they represent The University well. Be it Chris Simms or Blake Gideon or Garrett Gilbert or Bert Auburn.

Quinn Ewers falls in that group. I appreciate the things he did well but he was also extremely frustrating to watch as a player. The recruiting rankings and hype were extremely high, even had Heisman talk going into this year, and in the end we saw QB play more similar to Simms or Ehlinger than we did Colt. When we had Colt and the game was on the line, I always felt he had it in him to make the critical pass and keep the game alive.

Watching Quinn, I never felt that way. There were obviously many highlights like 4th and 13 against ASU where he made a clutch play to help win a tight game. There were also many missed opportunities like an overthrow to a wide open Golden on 3rd and 5 when we were trying to take the lead in the 4th quarter. Sark botched the playcalling at 1st and goal, but prior to that, there were plenty of other plays in the game that simply weren’t made, and I think an elite QB needs to be able to do that. I also think our offensive playbook was somewhat limited this year because of Quinn’s highly inconsistent deep ball and his inability to scramble away from a collapsing pocket.

I usually don’t concern myself with off the field issues, but I do follow several Longhorns on IG and I was not a fan of our starting QB making political posts in the middle of the football season. When that was going at the same time we were watching on-field struggles post injury, Quinn alienated me a little bit as a fan.

He was a drastic improvement from wandering in the desert with Case, Thompson, Buechele, Swoopes, etc, but those guys also had a much less talented team around them and far worse coaching from Strong and Herman. So I’m happy that Quinn played a role in returning Texas to prominence, and he was good enough to allow this upward trajectory to occur, but I think Texas needs better in order to win an actual championship. Hopefully Arch is the guy.

Good luck to Quinn in whatever he does next.

You can blame Sark for the 2nd down call or Cam Williams for the missed block, but the fact remains we are 0 for 8 in trying to score a TD inside the opponent's red area in two semifinals. The blame must go to both the playcaller and the QB in addition to evey other role players who missed their assignments.

You could tell during the game that he wasn’t 100% and if he was then oh boy.

You are the guy who blames the sexual assault victim for how she was dressed. You are the guy who blames the parents for naming their kid Tyrone because his application got thrown in the trash as soon as they read it.

Quinn got made a fool again in the RZ with yet another fumble return for a TD, but because we “don’t know football” calling out Quinn on this thread is equivalent to saying rape victims deserved it for how they were dressed. You need to step back and take a look in the mirror because you and all your pro-Quinn bullshit is taking things too far. Get some help dude, seriously. You might need a Derka time out for the things you just said.

Absolutely. Both are at fault. But at some point, Quinn needs to make a play down there. He never did back to back years. Neither him or Sark improved in play calling or play making respectively. Cost us at a national championship birth both times.

Ewers definitely has an issue with ball security.  the sack wasn't on him but he has to get that ball in the air or at least not fumble it.

In his defense he had like 2.5 seconds before he was getting sacked, not even enough time for the play to develop. The shitty playcalling caused that situation. The goal line series is on Sark more than anyone.

Oh I know. I'm on record that Sark is a fucking idiot.

Was Cam Williams really healthy? I know he was cleared to play. Bond was too and he wasn't healthy and maybe even Ewers isn't either, will never know it seems.

A healthy Goosby might have been a better option than a dinged-up Cam Williams.

Still the bad call of a deep pitch against a defense with that kind of speed shouldn't have happened.

Yeah roomie was on him hitting the ball before he could even get it pulled back to throw. That's not on Ewers imho.

I’m sure it’s been said here other than “more Arch”. But I’d suggest to not go watch all of Arch’s highlights this year. I’m no coach, but we would be in the title game if he was our guy.

Granted, I don’t think Quinn was the reason we lost. (See OL). But he wasn’t the answer to winning a title either.

I’m a forever believer in the “need a mobile qb to win in college football “ camp. They don’t have to be Vick or VY, but they need to be a threat every play with their legs.

Quinn was a threat, maybe once a game.

If you go watch all of Arch’s games this year. Man. The offense changes. The play calls change. We get rollout play calls, he moves up in the pocket when there is pressure. He picks up yards when plays are broken down. It’s something to watch. I wish we could have seen more.

I get that Sark must have had an agreement with Quinn to let him be the man, but man, Arch was the answer, and the only way we could have had a chance this year. I really believe that .

I appreciate Quinn and all he did for Texas. But, next year can’t get here fast enough.
