Dallas Cowboys 2022 Regular Season Thread: Fuck Jerry Jones

That's all well and good but my whole problem with this entire discussion is that people like you never have a good plan or a viable alternative to Dak. You think starting caliber QBs just grow on trees or something.

So let's look at alternatives. Is Brady going to come here? Rodgers? Carr? Hope the Ravens let Lamar walk? Scoop up some guy off the scrap heap and hope McCarthy's coaching polishes a turd into a winner? Draft a QB with a mid round pick and hope they turn into a franchise guy like what we're currently doing with Dak?

Jettison Dak and try to suck for a year and get Caleb Williams? Talk about an idiotic plan. In no way are you guaranteed to be bad enough to get that first pick.

Seriously, what's the plan to not suck if you scrap Dak? Keep in mind that any plan involving a new QB could take a few extra years to really kick into gear, guaranteeing that you will add years to the current drought.

The plan is simple. What worked for Dak when he was playing great? He had his best years with Jon Kitna as his coach, who broke him out of his Garrett/Linehan manager/backup qb training. Doug Nussmeier has eroded Daks skills. McCarthy didn’t even interview Kitna. Wouldn’t you want to talk to your qb whisperer?

Kitna is a little busy with a child porn matter at the moment

No it's the right Kitna. His son got busted for child porn while at U of Florida and is facing trial right now. Gotta think that's consuming his time

So you think he can’t work? I mean, I’m sure he’s worried, but it’s not like he’s his son’s lawyer.

You think he'd want a very public job that's takes all of his time while his son has an ongoing child porn trial? It's a moot point because there isn't an NFL team or University that would hire him right now with that hanging over his head.

Whut

Andy Reid’s son fucking MAIMED A CHILD after drinking at the Chiefs facility where he was an employee because of his father and the vast majority of NFL teams would hire him TOMORROW if he was available.

He's also not been "absolutely terrible." He's thrown too many interceptions. That's fixable. If it keeps up it's time for some tough decision making, but yeah, expecting a free agent or to magically draft the perfect QB is unrealistic. At minimum, even the way he's playing right now, he's "good enough" if the OL would open running lanes and if the defense would stop playing like dogshit on third and long.

No. The way he’s playing right now is most certainly not “good enough”. He’s been objectively bad.

If you don't know the difference between an accident and a legitimate child predator then there's nothing I can say that's going to help you. This isn't apples and oranges it's apples and fucking skyscrapers

Andy Reid’s son wasn’t just “an accident”. The dude was known to have substance abuse and criminal rage problems, yet was still hired by the team.

Aside from that, a team wouldn’t be hiring the son of the coach, they’d be hiring the coach.

The father isn’t guilty of the crime his son committed any more than you’re guilty of possessing the weed with which Ramonce was busted.

The Cowboys need an OC that understands what Dak is and how he can work. Boy wonder Kellen keeps calling shit that only elite qbs can execute with laser sharp precision through three opposing jerseys. Dak was never going to be that. They don't know how to play to his strengths and away from his weaknesses.

Exactly. Look at McVay. He got to the Super Bowl with very average QBs. Pederson with Foles changed the entire gameplan to fit what he does best. Won a ring. Andy Reid did the same with Alex Smith and McNabb.

We are running the same exact offense Romo was running. Created by Garrett. Garrett just gave it to Moore when Kellen was the OC under him. Literally nothing has changed. And never will.

A good OC will always play to the QB strengths and hide their weaknesses.

You can win with a QB like Dak. Will be ever be elite? Of course not. But you don't need to be elite to win a ring in this league. See Russell Wilson, Eli, Flacco, Foles, Stafford. But you need a good OC to do it. We don't have that. There are very few guys who have very little weaknesses and can go do their own thing without much help. I see Mahomes and Brady. Not many after that.

Also look at how SF handled Purdy, Jimmy g, Alex Smith and Kap. They hide the weaknesses very well.

Lulz. Fucking spares. We are heading into the playoffs with these guys as our #2 and #3 WRs. I will give Brown a little slack since he was never meant to be anything more than a #4 guy. But Gallup has shown no signs of growth but we picked him over Cooper. Neat

Monday night will be a shitshow. But for which team? You can’t say enough about Brady though. 45 or not….left the Patriots with a massive chip (the chip: Belichick is the reason for all the success or fair amount of it and he’s just a system QB) and wins a SB in Year one, year two makes NFC championship, year three drags a Brown/Gronk-less team with no running game to the playoffs (yes it helps their division is shit BUT Dallas had that same advantage for YEARS and couldn’t do slapdick with it.)

We should be able to win this game. Even though Brady is playing better ball than he has all year. We should. It sucks we can’t even really feel confident about our chances like other teams.

@Nicole44 I grew up a Cowboys fan when the only question was will we make it to the Super Bowl. Don't do it to yourself, hoping for success when Jerry is the owner is highly unlikely to happen, I stopped hoping a long time ago.

Jerry hired a loser that was put out to pasture because he heard bells. Jerry wants Yes Men that cannot put up a fight because they have no credibility. Jerry got lucky that Jimmy's guys won one more SB with fucking Barry Switzer but since then the Boyz have won 4 play-off games. Every QB that has come into the play-offs with 6+ consecutive games throwing an interception has lost in the first round of the play-offs and that includes Drew Brees. So it would be shocking if Dallas wins considering the history.

Enjoy Jerry's misery when he loses because it only started about four years ago. Before that he had a shit grin on his face that said I own the Cowboys and you peons don't so screw you if we lost. It is fun to watch him churn like I use to years ago when we lost, he is now thinking I may not ever see another SB win. If they win then enjoy it too. I have not lost with the Cowboys for four years now.

Hypothetical: Would you accept a win vs Brady in the playoffs for a successful season (0-7 lifetime vs Brady) and guaranteed loss round 2 or roll the dice?

Who the fuck cares about beating Brady if it means an auto loss. You are playing to win the Super Bowl, not to beat Brady and then get fuck stomped by your second round opponent.

We’re realistic. If the Cowboys went 17-0 with a 20 point differential I gave zero confidence in their playoff chances until they prove otherwise.

This is in no way a game that they should lose. Tampa is trash and their QB finally looks like he's 45. If they lose this I'd fire the entire coaching staff and possibly the entire scout staff as well.

Brady led the NFC in passing yards with 4,694 yards, 67% completion rate and 25 TDs to 9 interceptions. I wouldn't put him in a rocking chair just yet.

They might be stupid enough. Denver might be stupid enough and more desperate, because no self-respecting coach would take that job.

Stafford is a borderline HOF'er after winning the SB and throwing for 41 TD passes last year working with McVay. It was obvious it was the franchise, not Stafford, that was the problem in Detroit. And Goff is proving in Detroit that he's a much better QB than maybe gave him credit for being. I'd take him over post-injuries Prescott in a fucking heartbeat.

He caught it. He made a football move. Ground can't cause a fumble. fuck the Pittsburgh native/Cowboy hater ref in the replay booth who made the call. Fuck him.

It's not even clear and obvious from the video that the ball touched the ground. The ultimate ammo for the "NFL is rigged" crowd.

Agreed. The call on the field was a catch. There's no angle at all that shows otherwise. He propped the ball and popped it up with his finger while getting control of it and stretching it.

The question I always have is why go for it all on 4th and 2 with that much time left? I feel we could have easily picked up 2 yards with a Witten or Beasley route and kept the drive moving. Yes, the play worked and should have gotten us the ball at the one but the result doesn't change my mind. There's no way this defense was stopping Rodgers with that much time left. We also would've needed the 2pt play to make it a 3 point lead.

I wasn't a fan of the play call either.

unless you do the ol' underthrow it and get a PI call... like a. brown gets us all the time...but doubt we get that call... boyz rarely get calls our way.

Cole was open on that play for a 1st .. tony never looked his way, but he prolly would have been sacked by the Blitzer
