I saw Maiden in Chicago a couple weeks ago from the front row, and have First to the Barrier tickets for the Oakland show next week.

Does Steve Harris still mouth all the words to every song?

Yep. Never skips a beat.

Finally got a good pair up close for Maiden in the Woodlands later this month. Can’t go to the Dallas show because I’ll be in Austin for the Okie State game, so I’m driving to Houston from Austin on Sunday for the show and then back home to Dallas. Gonna be a long day but I never miss Maiden.

Awesome. You’ll have a great time. I’ll wave from the rail.

Saw him last weekend in Chicago. Great show. Ten-piece band.

saw him last time he played in Austin. He's in Houston tonight.  He's an all-timer for me.  Phenomenal guitar player.

Saw Radney Roster play the Heights theater (great venue by the way) last night in Houston.  Intimate setting with Kim Richey.  He's playing in Austin tonight at the O4 center. Guy is a Texas and national treasure.

Little River Band next Saturday for last show of Summer Concert series at nearby casino.   Have never seen them live.

Well shit, place was packed(limited seating/SRO) and I couldn't find parking to save my life.  Of well, I'll be home for Horns/Tigers & Cats/EMU games.

No. Just him. Started 10 minutes late and they shut the doors for the first song- no entry or exiting.

Thanks. Show tonight says 7:00, so I guess that means be there and in your seat at 7:00. Good to know.

Did he play any Dire Straits stuff?  Money for Nothing, Walk of Life, Sultans of Swing, So Far Away, or Brothers in Arms?  I'm worried about paying to see him and only hearing a pennywhistle set piece.

anyone going to The National and Alvvays on Tuesday? I’ve liked The National for awhile but just never though they’d be a great live band. However the tickets seem plentiful and cheap so thought I’d check it out. I like Alvvays as well and saw them at the Scoot inn last year. A lot more of a pop type sound then I normally like but they do it well.

Maybe someone can help me out as well with Austin 360. I guess the tickets I bought say parking included but i didn’t know that before I bought a lot b and d parking pass. The ticket just says parking included and doesn’t mention which lot. Anyone know where it would be? It also says crown royal access? Does that mean I can hang out there or just go in for food/beverages?

In most cities the bus system sucks. But in Austin it's somewhat good. I recommend parking somewhere on Burnet and take the rapid bus downtown. Ah, I remember the good old days....like 10 years ago. I would park at seventh and San Marcos for free and walk downtown.

the standard free parking is usually lot F. there's a shuttle that runs from the lot to the venue. you can watch the concert from the crown royal lounge.

Thanks for the info. If I park in lot b or d, is it walkable or is that a shuttle ride as well?

Travel delays kept me from going to Sunday night’s show. Too bad, I would have enjoyed hearing his solo work with some DS mixed in.

Anyone else get to go?

Saw Dave Matthews last night. Not really my type of music but they put on a good, energetic show and his band is super tight. They played a ton of mashups.

Thinking of taking a chance on a $30 upper level Morrissey ticket, even thought he's cancelled 3 times on me before. Just how bad is the sound in the Erwin Center?

Elton John last night.  The GF (no pics) is a big fan and I'm a fan of some of his older stuff, particularly Goodbye Yellow Brick Road.  Given that he's claiming this is his last tour (famous last words) and neither of us had ever seen him in concert, we figured we'd better catch him live if we could.

I thought it was very good, not amazing, but I was glad we went because the opportunities to catch rock legends like him in concert are becoming fewer and fewer.  The production was a tad too "Vegas show-y" IMO, but I guess that's to be expected given that he's now doing the Vegas show thing when he isn't out on the road touring.  The acoustics in the Honda Center suck ass, too.  I will give him credit, though -- the dude is 72 and his show ran a legit 2.5 hours and he's out on stage for almost all of it.  Granted, he's sitting on his ass at the piano 99% of the time, but still.  "Levon" in particular was killer -- they stretched it out so that it barely resembled the album version.

Loverboy ( yeah, I know but fuck you I enjoy them) is playing locally near me but fucking tickets are $75 GD dollars!!  Are you fucking kidding me?!  I may have paid that back in their heyday of the 80s but certainly not now.

So I went to see these guys on the recommendation of a friend.

Apart from an awesome wall of amps and great gimmick of all playing in dark robes and lots of fog - I don’t get it.

Metal slowed and dropped without any drums or melody.

It felt like a joke I wasn’t in on. I kept waiting for the little people of Stonehenge to dance.

somewhat reminds me of merzbow.

Turns out it was possible to see the show at cactus cafe and see the well afterwards at empire control room. Both were great, really love the cactus.

if you're not directly in the center it's pretty bad. have never sat upper level for a concert but have not heard good things.

I'm a huge Cure fan and sat upper level for them in the Erwin Center a few years ago and it sucked sucked sucked.

I saw Nitzer Ebb open up for Depeche Mode at the Woodlands on the Violator tour in the summer of 1990. I was 14 and about to be a freshman in high school.

I was there too.  My then-GF loved Depeche Mode.  Got laid after the concert, so it all worked out well.

Taking my 11yo to see Lord Huron tonight (his favorite band) for an early birthday present.  Haven't ever been to ACL Live, so looking forward to it -- any tips?

Looks like we'll end up with a couple extra tickets, let me know if anyone is interested.

They recommend getting there 30 minutes before to give time for security.  Not sure if you know this, but the opener starts at 8pm, and Lord Huron doesn't start until 9pm.  The main set is listed as 110 minutes, so if you're not used to late night concerts on a Monday, grab a coffee on the way to the show.  The opener is Hazel English, who I kinda dig.

It will be my third Lord Huron show, so looking forward to this.

In addition to Lord Huron tonight, I'm capping off the week back at Moody Theater on Friday for Deadmau5.  I believe the kids pronounce it "Dead Mouse."  I know nothing about Mr. Mouse, except one of my best friends (who is even older than I am), is a big fan, so I got us tickets as a birthday present.  What should I expect?  It is just electric dance music?  Mostly 20 year olds?  Some nice tail?

Thanks, just got here, wish I had seen that earlier about the coffee.

I'll be the guy here with a kid. And your mom.
