Good Looks has been needing some good luck . . . good for them.

My daughter was in the McCallum Fine Arts Academy with the two guys behind The Point.  (She actually dated one of them.)  They're pretty adventurous and talented musicians, I'll be interested to see if they keep growing from here.

Plus I love who is going to be playing with The Point.  Should be a ton of talent on one stage.

Fill me in . . . they have a Grupo guy who produced one record, right?  Who else?

EDIT:  never mind, I'm being stupid.  I read the bill wrong.  I thought those listed with The Point were playing separate sets.

Superfonicos are great!  Saw them two weeks ago at Meridian.  Beto is from Grupo Fantasma/Brownout/Money Chicha, I know Lluvii (have not seen her) has been making a name for herself lately.  I saw Touch Girl Apple Blossom about 1 1/2 years ago at a free show at Mohawk when they were just getting their feet wet.  Interesting to see how they've grown.

Really curious given who is involved.  Doubt Dylan Bishop will be there since I think he's off in New Mexico but we'll see.

Have not found any footage from last night at the Continental Club

For those who don't know:

Wes Race Presents... The Alnico All-Stars (CD)

Hey... show was great!  Really need to catch more The Point for a proper show.  Also, Ben Buck sat in on a song for some masterful beatboxing.

I'll be at that Red Rocks show also.  Thursday night; I almost forgot he has two days at the venue.

April 23: Rufus du Sol in Dallas
April 24: Fontaines D.C. in Dallas
May 11: Beach House at The Factory in StL
May 14: Toro y Moi & Panda Bear at HoB Dallas
May 29: Lord Huron at Red Rocks

Rufus and Fontaines in Austin on the same day. Going with Rufus at the soccer stadium.  Saw Lord Huron with Kacey Musgraves at Moody Center.  Did not disappoint.

Yeah, Joe Roddy was very good HS trumpet player, and Jack M was basically a guitar prodigy even back into elementary school.

concert prices have truly gotten out of control. ticketmaster trying to make us think it's normal to pay $150 for a ticket. was paying it for a while but i've finally started passing on some bands I would've otherwise seen. mmj is the most recent one...$219 pit tickets? fuck you.

i paid $157 for the pit through their presale.  moody amp tix were also $70 more than the houston show, which has an all GA floor. for 3 shows my total for TM fees was $100.

i was in the mmj presale but got in a bit late. they must've been doing dynamic pricing on the pit tickets...which is complete horseshit. i was pretty excited when moody amphitheater was built but i can't say that i've enjoyed it very much for the shows i've seen there.

Yeah, it’s up there with Stubb’s for me for least favorite. Unless you’re close it sucks and the bathroom situation is nasty. I went to a show at moody last summer and there was no AC or ventilation in the bathroom. It was impossible to be in there for more than 20 seconds without becoming drenched in sweat. Parking for both is usually a crapshoot too.

Ticket prices have gone up a lot, but blame the artists and their agents, not Ticketmaster. Ticketmaster exists to take the blame for ticket prices with their "fees". Artists and their agents choose the prices though.

I paid $59 per ticket for MMJ this morning for the Houston show, so I can't complain, but I have no idea why they would be so drastically different between markets.

Going to see Daniel Donato in early February at a local club. I have been digging him of late.

Sunday’s show was just what I needed. Cosmic Country and a couple of mushroom chocolates. Opened with Rollin in My Sweet Baby’s Arms and proceeded to get more jam bandy than I usually prefer, but great fun nonetheless.

We went and saw Marty Haggard, here, in Granbury last night. He plays his dad's songs, but the best part is he tells the stories behind the song. He said he gets creeped out by certain songs like "My Favorite Memory". He was about 15 or 16, and the line "we made love in the hall and slept on the floor" was true. Apparently Merle and his third wife, Leona, (he married two different women named Leona) really did that, and Marty had to step over their naked bodies to get to the kitchen.

He sang the "Whole World Is Going to Pot". The story behind that was Willie called his dad and was playing at Harrah's in Lake Tahoe and wanted him to come over. They drove the 123 miles from their home , near Redding, to Tahoe. He said they went to the house that Harrah's had for the big name celebrities to stay in, and Willie had a silver platter with what must have been 1-2 pounds of some of the finest Weed known to man. He rolled a joint that was about like a Churchill cigar. He lit it and took a puff, and passed it to Merle, who passed it to Marty. Marty said that Willie immediately started rolling another one. Eventually they had three joints going around between them. He said the last thing he remembered was asking Willie why didn't he just roll three joints and let everyone have their own. He said it was the first and last time he ever smoked. He remembered sitting in Willie's living room, and the next thing he remembered was waking up in his bed, back in Redding.
