Just picked up some tickets to see Queens of the Stone Age w/ Viagra Boys.  That'll be a great show!

Gonna see Bart Budwig this sunday.  This is a pnw musician that I am a big fan of.  I'm trying to get this guy to play on my backyard stage.

No TX dates so I'll be at the Denver show. Looking forward to the new QOTSA album.

I was so jealous you got to see Viagra Boys in Portland.  I had tickets to White Denim the same night.  I should have given them away and gone to VB.

I don’t know. But a hymn is a blast to run to.

You going? I haven’t wrangled any friends in yet so as of now headed out solo. Down to “meet someone from the internet”.

I’ll be there with Ungar actually. Hit me up in the pm. We can figure something out.

I just now was tipped off to some IDLES . . . what I heard had a bit of a Social Distortion vibe, is that off base in general?

Buddy of mine said the IDLES show at Granada was his favorite show of 2022. What I’ve heard hasn’t grabbed me plus it’s going to be hot AF when they go on. Planning on being there in time for most of Jamie xx’s set.

I'm still pretty bummed the show didn't happen last night. I haven't seen LCD since they rolled through The Bomb Factory five or six years ago.

Oh, and thanks @NOMAAA for being my "boots on the ground" guy at the venue. Thanks to your text updates -- and another buddy who was out there with his wife -- we posted up at Inwood Tavern and stayed there until they called the show. I went home when everybody peeled off for Cosmos.

well that was a fucking waste of time. Why would you have an outdoors concert in Texas in June next to a huge indoor venue?

What happened? Big LCD Soundsystem fan.

By the way, went to see Spoon last month at Whitewater Amphitheater. I go to one concert maybe every other year, so I'm not some pro, but love Spoon.

Holy shit I thought that was a great venue and loved seeing them live. Great show imo. Been listening to pretty much nothing but Spoon since then.

Spoon update:  Jim Eno is closing down his studio (Public HiFi) and moving back to the area where he grew up (Rhode Island).  He'll re-open the studio there.  Spoon will not fold, they already have one guy in NYC and one in LA.  Austin's loss, but roots call I guess.

. . . and the weird thing is, my wife grew up across the street.  When we first started dating, she said "let me drive you by my parents' house".  I had already done some work on the acoustics at Jim's previous version of that studio (same location) and as we got closer I was kinda tripping.  We pulled up, she pointed at her parent's house and said "that's where I grew up", I pointed at Jim's house and said "that's my friend's place, he's the drummer for Spoon".

"Oh, THAT'S who makes all that noise."

Saw Idles, Jamie XX and LCD in New Orleans Friday. Idles rocked my ass off as usual. Jamie XX was a DJ. I will never get the idea of a DJ playing a big stage show - DJs are for clubs and always will be IMO. LCD put on a great show, maybe the best I’ve seen from them and my wife agreed. Very energetic and into it. Hot and sweaty ass night in New Orleans but we had a great time.  You guys in Dallas really missed out.

Bonus pre-show on tiny side stage from Lost Bayou Ramblers was perfect for the occasion. Those guys are good. See them if you ever get the chance. If you understand coonass French you might even get some of the lyrics.

Drove to Houston to see Duran Duran/CHIC w Nile Rodgers/Bastille... all three were great.  Took the cheap seat option on the lawn but we were right at the front.  Hell of a lineup for $40 something bucks per ticket.

I hate anyone who is going to Love & Rockets this Saturday... hate you.

BUT... thanks to the poster who put up the Digable Planets link.  Buying tickets now.  Really tempted to buy Royal Blood but, man, November 22nd... I don't know what are plans are that week.  Tough one.

jerry harrison and adrian belew- it's called the remain in light tour so I assumed they would be playing all of remain in light. that proved not to be the case but they did play several songs off that album plus some other talking heads classics. sounded great. they had a huge band...probably 10 people on stage including backup singers. a different person in the band sang lead vocals for each song and they all did a pretty good job. had never seen adrian belew live, he was every bit as awesome as I anticipated. he has such a unique style.

les claypool's fearless flying frog brigade- first off, the band featured both sean lennon and harry waters...pretty interesting to see 2 sons of rock royalty on the same stage. they played all of pink floyd's animals plus about 10 other songs. animals was really fucking good, sean lennon did a great job with the guitar parts. i wasn't familiar with most of the other material they played but it was enjoyable. i also always love getting the opportunity to see mike dillon play percussion.

I have family in Tulsa. Gonna head up there with MrsX in July to see The Chicks. It’s one of the few concerts she actually wants to go to.

Dandy Warhols and Black Angels are coming to Dallas in Oct. It’s at a venue I haven’t heard of or been to: Ferris Wheelers’s Backyard and BBQ. There’s a ferris wheel in their backyard. Hence the name.

They have a few other acts coming in Sept. Not interested in them myself but I recognize the names: Tangerine Dream, Ghostland Observatory.

It’s bit cryptic but I think the Warhols and BA tix go on sale tomorrow.

Just picked up tickets to the Black Angels/Dandy Warhols and Allah-Las.  Gonna be a pretty full summer.  I have 3 shows booked on my backyard stage with a bunch of musicians reaching out to book additional shows.  I'm helping run sound at a 3-day music festival in Yachats, Oregon in August.  Tickets to the Parson Red Heads, Wand, The Black Tones, Osees, Modest Mouse/Pixies, and Ron Gallo so far.

It is going to be a great summer!

Did Stapleton play Watch you burn? I saw him at Choctaw in March; he was amazing but the casino’s time restrictions make for an abbreviated set.

He’s coming back to Dallas in Oct, and I want to see his performance of a song fueled by anger. Wondering if there’s a possibility of him playing Watch you burn.

Yeah.  I think that was his second to last song.  He closed it with Tennessee Whiskey.  What I like about him is he plays 2 sad songs and then two high energy songs and mixes it up.  Amazing

Picked up some extremely cheap tickets for noel Gallagher and garbage last night at a very empty COTA. Was never a big oasis fan and that set didn't do anything to change my mind. Garbage, however, was surprisingly good. Shirley Manson can still sing and had a great stage presence.
