Texas opens as a 5 point favorite @ Texas Tech

Oh I’d jump on Horns at -5. Tech is rather average. UTSA is better.

That line will be going up. I like Horns in a 7-13 point victory.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didnt Tortilla rush the field and wreck their goalposts after beating the same Cougar High that were just soundly beaten at home by the mighty Kansas Jayhawks?

Both teams being on QB 2 nullifies any disadvantage of Ewers being out, mudhole in Lubbuttock.

If the game was at 7 p.m., it would be one thing. But yeah, I'd be on Texas. Seems fishy low.

I don't know how good Texas is this season, but I'm fairly confident they aren't terrible. That's a big improvement over last year.

I'd jump on Texas. Our O-line is pitiful and you should be able to take advantage of that. Defense is capable but we are going to have difficulty scoring. I'd guess Texas by 14.

e: And maybe take the under

I'd say the Tech students timed it right.

Might be the only non-FCS win of the season.

Hahaha, 35.5 total for Iowa/Rutgers.

The Baylor/Iowa St. 43.5 total is really low but instinctively I'd still want to bet the under. That sets off evil sportsbook trap bet alarms.

Kind of how I felt about that Oregon/BYU line last week that was getting something like 97% of the public action last I saw.

Bet the under.  Both teams have decent defenses and little offense (especially Tech).  Both will be rolling out back up QBs, but Card is serviceable.  Smith is terrible, at least in that offense.  Although it's another mediocre squad this year, the Horns should roll as Tech is in full rebuild mode with tons of youth on the field and the sideline.  If Sark sticks with the run and just buries them, I can see the score getting out of hand, but no way it combines for that many points.

That's just fucking crazy.

People are taking Tech and the points?

Tech is improved defensively over a year ago, there’s a good chance we will still be trotting out our backup QB and this program hasn’t proved they can win semi-big games on a road in a while.

The line doesn’t seem too egregious to me. We should be happy with a win of any type.

Texas will win by 24-25.

So far Vegas has been terrible at judging this Texas team.

Way off on Bama and then the UTSA line was stupid. Texas still covered easily against UTSA after sleepwalking for a half.

Yeah but this program has proven they can win on the road in Lubbock having won every single matchup there since 2008. What does our program's ability to win in Waco or Ames have to do with Lubbock?

To flip this, what does our program having won in Lubbock in 2010 and 2018 have to do with this years squad winning there?

Not saying you are wrong, but historical stats like that mean very little, especially to a betting line.

Texas -- 45

Tech -- 24

I'll guess it's the opposite of last week -- we come out and maul them in the 1st half, then they'll get a couple of garbage time scores.  Their D has played fairly well, but their QB has already thrown 5 picks.  That'll be in his head and I think we can confuse him and get a couple of takeaways and a big lead.
