We’ve seen very little to prove that the offense is insanely better with Ewers. It will be better somewhat, but Ewers doesn’t fix our play calling, he doesn’t fix the oline, he doesn’t fix our inability to adjust after our scripts.

doesn't fix the play calling with an arm that can actually make all the throws? ok

For the sake of our program and my liver I hope they beat wv and destroy ou and we look back and realize how big it is to have Quinn to overcome dumb playcalling.

You may want to go ahead and get on the donor list.

For us to win, we have to take the refs out of the game, basically 15+ points type Ws. In any close games Big 12 refs will influence. This is one should be a 15+ type game for us (like our Ws so far).

Yea it doesn’t fix not running outside the tackles, abandoning the WR/TE screen, continuing to use ineffective packages, no utilizing Bijan for 2.5 quarters. What else do you need explained to you?

You can’t just abuse Bijan. That’s fucking stupid. He’s already hurt as is and we have more than half the season to go. Not to mention, the team has to be able to do something…anything.

furthermore, you have to beat a defense through decision making. Card had multiple chances to hit a TE underneath in the game and didn’t.

None of this absolves playcalling or the dumbass wildcat slow developing shit, but it is to say that there were opportunities through playcalling that just weren’t taken advantage of.

I'm fully aware of what happened yesterday, but you have to realize, that was tech's super bowl. That was the best they can possibly play in a game. just like kansas st played their super bowl yesterday vs. blo-u - they had a lot more at stake, emotionally and were preparing for that game for a month.

wvu is in shambles and we get them at home. different matchup, different emotions and different outcome.

We will win.

Then put Wright in.

Hitting all the throws is huge, but the decision making and read progression are what Ewers brings that card just doesn’t have anymore. Ewers is going to make some bone head throws but he’s going to do it right fucking now and some of those bone head throws will work out because they are snap decisions. That play action role out on 3rd down when card forced it to Whittington on the sideline after holding it too long while Gunnar helm ran across the middle of the field wide open is who card is, and we aren’t good enough to overcome that kind of drive stalling shit. That’s a bad run on sentence but fuck it lol.

Sure. But by that same “what if”, Wright could throw a couple picks and then what? Everyone’s answer is always “play the other guy” but that’s just hopium

17 touches isn’t abusing your star running back. If he was too hurt then why play him with the game on the line?

What’s your number then? The reality is you can’t be 1 dimensional either. It wasn’t like Bijan was having that much success outside of plays he made himself.

Bijan should be getting 22-26 touches a game minimum. Like you said, he can make plays himself, especially when we don’t force him into trying to hammer between the guards.

i get what you’re saying, but we are just hoping that Bijan makes a play in spite of our offense. That’s not really winking football. In the mean time, he’s taking a lot of abuse. I mean just look at his fumble. It may get worse if we can’t block any better or give teams a reason to not key on Bijan only.

Bijan caught one pass in the game. Not a single screen, no flares, no shovels. He caught one pass on our first drive. You want to talk about things that aren’t winning football? The reason you want players like Bijan is because they make plays in spite of hard times. That’s the entire point of stars.

This fan base is going to utterly collapse when Quinn comes back and struggles lol. It’s inevitable.

He's going to struggle. He's also going to amaze. Card will struggle, but he'll also look competent at times.

WVU is not that good and the game is at home, Texas should win. If Ewers is back, should be able to have a day against a bad WVU secondary.

That said, they have a capable QB and DL. Better than Tech on both counts. If the game is called like the Tech game and Texas gives Daniels the kind of windows they gave Tech, he will make plays. If Texas insists on most of the run game being behind the center and guards, WVU will stop it. There’s a recipe for losing that Sark and PK are capable of following.
I have heard this before.....

I get what you’re saying. But you gotta have a player get him the ball on those plays too. You have to have blocking your even allow the play to be setup. It’s just not as simple as you are making it out to be imo.

It literally is. Do you think we are so physically incapable of simply getting the ball to Bijan? We can’t design plays to get the ball to our stars? If that’s the case then Sark is even worse than anyone thinks and couldn’t coach JV. Come on dude. We can find ways to get the ball to Bijan so that he can find ways to make plays.

Our D can't seem to tackle the players.  Why do you think they could take out the refs?

Anyone can design plays…but players can also be taken away. If you were playing against Bijan, would you try and design a defense to take him away and force the other team to beat you by throwing? I certainly would do that to Texas.

So I guess you’re right, it’s simple to design an offense or defense to do 1 thing.

Last year’s team quit when it faced adversity. If they struggle with WVU (which I expect, I think they’re better than Tech) and then blow the game for the 2nd week in a row I think we’ll know they quit this season too when they line up vs OU.

So, win. We don’t root for quitters.

We’ve reached the annual “All our goals are still in front of us……..” press conference portion of the Longhorn season.  Did you know all of our goals are still in front of us?……..winning the Big XII and such?  Good news

And we did it after the first game of Big XII play... we're ahead of schedule... all gas..

The SP+ update has Texas at #11, at at #7 on offense, and #33 on defense. Reminder that it had us at #86 on defense at the end of last year

Preseason: 22, 8, 51

Post Week 1: 18, 8, 47

Post Week 2: 16, 7, 40

Post Week 3: 14, 8, 35

Post Week 4: 11, 7, 33,

Special teams have also been trending upward. He didn't have pre-season rankings for it, but so far they've gone from rankings of 100, 85, 61, and 45

Ultimately Sark still has to figure out how to situationally win games or none of this matters, but these numbers are trending the right direction.
