Game Week West Virginia

It really boils down to being able to pull the trigger on throws with at least a hint of anticipation. Card doesn't do that. That equates to more sacks and missed opportunities in the passing game. As a result the offense is extremely limited.

2 things.

1. Gundy sat J.T. Walsh when it was apparent he wasn't a good QB even though he was highly rated.

2. Worthy did a really smart thing on the long TD run by Bijan in the UTSA game.  He essentially set a pick to block the pursuit to spring Bijan from getting caught from behind.  He's a team player, but he can definitely get better.

We really need Agiye Hall to step up this weekend if we are going to have any hope of winning.

IF sark is telling him not to run to the detriment of this team’s success then it’s over fellas. Leipold needs to be groomed right now for 2024. We are mega fucked if sark is ok with losing as long as his offense is ran correctly.

It's been known from the moment he was hired that Sarkisian didn't do much QB run stuff at all. He wants his guys to scramble to pass. It's probably being emphasized even more now because 1) Card is not 100% healthy and 2) we have basically nothing behind him.

West Virginia is No. 5 nationally in fourth-down conversions. The Mountaineers are 9-of-10 on fourth down attempts this season. not good for us as Tech converted 6/8 last weekend. Yikes. They’ll go for it a lot this weekend.

It’s been said but just like with Tech we can’t afford to overlook this game and think we can just win because they are not the best WVU team we’ve faced.

Texas is 5-6 against West Virginia all-time and 2-4 at home.

Steve Sarkisian is 0-1 against WVU as Texas lost 31-23 last season.

West Virginia has three of the top seven WR's in the Big 12 in receiving yards. They will have a field day sadly…

hopefully Ewers can play and Sark calls a better game. We need better calling from Sark LostAgain…

Scoring offense: WVU (#20), Texas (#69)

Rushing offense: WVU (#20), Texas (#63)

Total offense: WVU (#18), Texas (#72)

Turnover margin: WVU (#89), Texas (#77)

Total defense: WVU (#23), Texas (#75)

Yep. Besides being able to make all the throws along with some most others can’t make, Ewers is capable of throwing WR’s open.

Should be noted that West Virginia's team stats have benefitted greatly from their 58 point win over Towson in which they allowed 180 yards and had over 600 yards of offense.

Jesus Tap-Dancing Christ, we've played 2 non-power 5 teams & Texas Tech and we're 72 in total offense and 75 in total defense. I think I'm going to drive down to Sark's office and take a dump on his desk.

Anwar-

"Texas redshirt quarterback Quinn Ewers is fighting to play against West Virginia on Saturday but his shoulder will need to improve dramatically for that to occur.

According to multiple sources, Ewers is still feeling pain near the breastbone after throwing this week. Unless that injury dramatically improves this week, Ewers will miss another game and Hudson Card will start this weekend.

Ewers traveled to Lubbock for his team's recent game against Texas Tech. He participated in pregame warmups but was the third quarterback during drills. Unfortunately, for Longhorn fans, Ewers was not close to 100 percent and only threw soft passes."

Pretty sure Brando is openly hostile towards Texas. Talks shit on twitter, etc.

Brando's a fuckin' Lsu homer... and actively hates on the Longhorns.

So two announcers who enjoy trying to make Texas look bad... might want to mute those fuckers on Saturday

we dont need ewers.  card is serviceable.  he is not the reason we are losing games.  it's playcalling, clock management, and defense.  ewers needs more time.  jesus.  it's a fucking bone for christ sake, and its only been two week.   sure, its not his throwing shoulder but if he gets slammed to the turf on it he'll be out for the season.   and what are the odds he'll get slammed to the turf on it?  pretty damn high.

It’s not a bone. Where did you get that from?

This definitely sounds like 100% recovery. Kill Sark.

Maybe get Milton more involved as well.  He made a helluva catch on the sidelines in that last 21 second drive.

I know we love to hate on Card, but that dude was nowhere near the biggest reason Texas lost. Other than a couple mistakes, he actually played fairly well. Yeah, yeah, “but the deep ball”… for fucks sake, how many game managing QBs have been on national championship winning teams? Card isn’t great, but he’s progressing and definitely serviceable. If the rest of the team performed as well as Card did, that game was a blowout.

I agree Card wasn’t the reason we lost but people need to stop oversimplifying Card’s limitations. It’s not just the deep ball. He has horrible pocket presence and only throws to open guys because he can’t anticipate. He also misses open guys constantly. There have been a ton of plays with guys running wide fucking open where Card just holds the ball. Another symptom of all this is he rarely throws over the middle. On top of that, his ankle is still hurt, so you can’t run him. When you take all those things into account and factor in that our OL is terrible at run blocking, there’s not a whole lot of options for Sark with our current O. It’s not nearly as simple as people try to make it.

Having said that, Sark absolutely has baked for the loss. He should have been more creative in the second half against Tech. Our 3 RB package got a TD in 3 plays on the first drive and Sark never went back to it.

Kansas didn't need a Quinn Ewers or Xavier Worthy to hang 42 on WVU in regulation. On the road. Why do we "need" these guys to win again?

If the answer to not being a 6-6 is "we need a generational talent to stay healthy and live up to every point of his recruiting rating, and also need him to be surrounded by dominant talent at WR" then what the fuck would Sark say he does here besides recruit?

Obviously Sark needs to beat WVU even if Card is starting, but your example just shows you don’t know what you’re talking about. Jalon Daniels is easily one of the best QBs in CFB. No way Kansas beats WVU without him.
