I was chatting with a friend over beers, sharing some humor from this site, and he asks me how long I've een wasting my life with longhorn message boards.

I was like damn, let me think about that.

After losing to ousucks for the third year in a row I started Googling variations of "mack brown sucks" and came across Hornfans. I registered as Okiehater, and had absolutely no idea what I was getting into.

It was my first time posting on a message board and I sucked at it. Basically streams of conciousness put to text. Imagine Derka with less self awareness.

Everyone hated me and I was banned after less than 100 posts.

I went through three more usernames, but my stupidity was immediately recognized and was banned with extreme prejudice.

Thats when I discovered the other boards like Cactus Cafe, Quakenbush's, etc, and that's where I lurked and learned how to suck less. I returned as MissingInAction and started sharing stories of debauchery and mayhem.

When Austin 3:16 was created I really hit my stride. My most famous threads are probably The BBQ Bandito caught on tape, and The Mother Daughter three way.

Am I better person now than 20 years ago? Who knows, but I'm definitely different.

I've met a lot of cool and interesting people along the way.

Here's to 20 more.

Heard on radio I think rumors of the highly rated qb from New Jersey flipping from Tennessee to Texas.

went to UGL for internet access, started googling (or whatever search engine) and found hornfans among other pages.

I think I discovered Hornfans in 2000 as a freshman in the dorms. Managed about 10k posts with multiple blinking envelopes before the blob finally banned me for good.

Over the last 22 years my posting has varied in direct proportion to my alcohol consumption, which is considerably less now than it used to be. Probably why I'm so boring now.

Go on.

TOS was the first time I got into message boards related to UT sports.

I was long time lurker before I signed up.

Not sure why I signed up.

Then I migrated here when TOS went to shit.

Never did the Hornfans thing.

I was doing a LOT of cocaine at the time, so my memory is pretty hazy as to how it all went down.

I know I typed up the post in the middle of an eight ball bender. Unfortunately whale cunt deleted Austin 3:16 and that magic is lost forever.

It's been 12 years for me on this and TOS, and only because I was trying to find insight into what the Texas football team was like prior to coming out in 2010 to Austin for our game.  The first thing I came across was Thujone's MNC MS paint, and I was like...

Funny how some good marching powder can lead to such things. So I’ve heard, of course.

I started my fan board journey around 2000 on a UNM lobos basketball forum (now defunct due to the mod completely losing his mind over board rivalries). I would hate to see what I posted back then.
I migrated on different UNM and TCU boards for a long time. Although I initially really enjoyed game threads, over time I realized how much worse it made the fan experience.
Similarly, I used to love recruiting threads, but realized getting excited and let down over the whims of 17-18 YO guys is idiotic.
Lurked on Hornfans and then the shag for a while, and came to appreciate the irreverent, often profane dialogue. Started participating on the shag and continue it here. I manage to avoid the pitfalls of CR and similar self-destructive dialogue. It’s a good diversion.

Roundabout trail for me. Goemaw had something from widerightnattylight that referenced the statues thread on the shag.  I found the baseball forum and thought” my school has a championship”and posted something stupid. @Beau Vine told me to go fuck myself and here we are.

Lurked on hornfans but never posted. Found Shaggy by looking for home brewing discussions of all things. Lol I remember my ex posted from my account around 2011 when I was living in Mexico. If y'all remember I was hammered ass drunk and she wanted to fuck and I just couldn't do it due to drunkenness and she posted a thread about it lol. I woke up the next day and checked my notifications and the clowns on shag thought I wrote that for attention lol wtf but yea posted a pic of her titties and ass and all was forgiven then assholes got into my photobucket account and saw way more pics than intended. Man what a shit show my first months on shag were, I feel like I made up for it with the Tijuana thread though. Been a fun ride for sure and met some great friends along the way

I got a day off for opining on the attractiveness of a rice cheerleader because it was on the basketball board. Probably loopy or sua ran that board.

I got an invite to join Hornsfan fan from @rage-a-holic (we worked together and hung out on his boat /no homo). I didn't know what the hell I was supposed to do but I saw the picutre of Mira Sorvino and the ice cream cone.  I liked that, but I still didn't really know what the fuck a message board was.  Rage told me about Shaggy after the move and I tried it again.  I found the MS Paint Sex thread and cried from laughing so hard.  I also saw Thujone's MS Paint of him flying a jet over DKR after getting high for the first time.  I think I may have seen the OU gif of dominance thread after that and was just hooked.  It's been 13 years now.

1999 Big12 CCG, found the Austin360 boards, was amazed at the shit-talking around the game!  lurked a little on Hornfans later on...but Big12 Warzone was more my style...so no surprise i ended up on shaggy after that, although i have no recollection how i specifically landed there. i'm an OG lol🤘

Started with shaggy in ~08-09’iirc. Was in an office bullpen with llanoestacado back then and it’s all he did for “work” for a few years.  Then I quit lurking and started posting and that’s when it all went downhill. Had only been on a few fishing boards prior. Still here on only username ive ever had.

If only you had copies to share.

I started after you. I was watching a post game interview and I could hear Bob Cole (using his best DJ voice) in the background thanking everyone for coming to the game, and I thought, “I miss Wally Pryor.” I registered that night.

I was only suspended (perhaps banned, all I recall was a blinking envelope) once for using the term Jap in a WWII thread, and after what’s-her-whale cunt-name warned me and then edited my post to read “Japanese,” I referred to them as Nips. I, too, it turns out, am an asshole.

I had just discovered TOS, so it was adios to Hornfans.com.

My dad introduced me to Hornfans when I was a kid around 2002, I think. Maybe 2003. I registered, but rarely ever posted, just voyeured. Hey, I didn't have my own computer so internet access was limited and the site was blocked at school. Dad and I discovered shaggy in spring of 2008 but were voyeurs. Neither of us registered until later on(he joined in 2011 and I joined in 2012). He's registered here, but mainly posts on Hornfans.

Glad I joined and made the jump to here day 1. This past decade has been great sharing agony, anger and laughs with you assholes. I post here more than Facebook now. Here's to another decade!

Started on Hornfans around 2003, when I actually lived in South Austin.  Several years later got suspended for one of those facetious “that’s racist” replies, when even the poster to whom I was responding said it was funny and he knew it was a joke.

Started lurking for several years on shaggy at the recommendation of a friend, but never actively posted until 2013. That’s when I dared criticize Mack Brown on Hornfans after the embarrassment at BYU, got suspended with a stern warning not to do it again, and said fuck that place.

Fuck Hornfans. They were doing a poll in 2016 on how many yards Foreman would rush for on senior day. Everyone said over 100 except one idiot who said Foreman would get less than 75 yards because TCU would put the clamps on him. I negged the poster and then got a message saying, "we don't neg here blah blah.. take that to shaggy." Haven't visited or posted on Hornfans since.

What was that site in the late 90’s that just posted links to every Longhorn article writtten everyday?  No message board, just a long list of new links every day.   Billy Bob’s something?  I think I went from that to Hornfans.  Hornfans to Longhornfanzone, to Shaggy, to here.  Or was LFZ before Hornfans?  When Hornfans or LFZ went south Lowery21 invited me to Shaggy.  He and I are still friends but I’m not sure where he posts these days.  Haven’t seen him online in years.  I posted under a different username back then but the ex-wife called me out on some shit I’d posted about and I realized she was lurking and looking for dirt.  And that’s how I became Your Mom.

I lurked on Hornfans in the early/mid 2000s.  I may have tried to join, but I recall the verification emails not showing up.  It took itself way too seriously, and I would just bounce over to Barking Carnival for the post-game sarcasm from ScipioTex.  I joined Shaggy in Mack's last season after seeing the bag over Bevo's head and hearing my father in law talk about Shaggy as the forum where posts often, in his opinion, crossed the line of good taste.  Suffice it to say, I was intrigued because good taste on the internet is overrated.  Anyway, Shaggy could be intimidating for newbs.  So I mostly kept my mouth shut on the coaching carousel threads and posted in the BBQ and guitar threads until I felt reasonably safe from neg fatwas for missteps (not that that was an issue).  I also adopted the Earl avatar because of my current hometown (and who could hate on Earl).  The username is a holdover from my time on home brewing forums (Dry County Brewing Concern) in the spirit of CBGB.  Someone from the guitar pron thread was kind enough to send me a lifeboat link when Shaggy went tits up, and here I sit.  So blame him, I guess.

I've carried this handle through, what, 4 boards now? I still chuckle at the name I picked because it totally dates me in all the wrong ways. My first car was a '68 Mustang so pretty much every internet handle I had from ca.1994-2000 or so was some variation of ledzep68 or longhornfan68. I actually started UT in '97 and and attended a few games of Mackovic's last year but totally jumped on the Ricky hype train. My love for UT football was cemented on the day Ricky ran for the record, which happened to be my 20th birthday. It was shortly thereafter I met some peeps who lured me onto Hornfans. After attending a few tailgates, meeting and befriending Robert and Katy, and earning their trust I was made a moderator of NSAA/Austin 3:16. I'm sure there are several posters on here who still hold grudges for blinking envelopes I sent their way.  Ah well. I soon met @blacklab and even attended the 2003 Final Four in NOLA with several peeps I've met from these boards. I didn't like how controlling HF was getting so I bowed out of my moderator role, and pretty soon thereafter moved with everyone else over to shaggy. I run into R+K occasionally when my drunk/high/trippin' ass walks past their house on my way to Eeyore's, but that friendship has waned over the years. This site is by far the best version to date, but each has been fun and I'm glad to have been a part of it.

I stumbled across Hornfans around 2002 while looking for a Ricky Williams Texas Starting Lineup Heisman toy.

Got banned the first month for talking shit about 3 yard outs, then seemingly falling you assholes in the Shag.

Bucha degenerates.

Pretty close - I first joined Wheeler’s forum, but quickly bailed for HF when he disappeared after the infamous charter bus fiasco. Abandoned that place after receiving one too many blinking envelopes of death to TOS when it started, then was swept along with the mob here.

Did a search in February 1998 for articles on Mack's first class and found hornfans.  I was hooked like an addict immediately.

I was also an early and frequent contributor to the sorority thread and now have a daughter in college. Karma has a way of getting you back.

25 years here. Started on the 360 boards in 1997, migrated to hornfans around 2000.

Around 2008, I was helping whalecunt with a few routing/chat issues she was having; she complained about her old, slow hardware, and I offered to donate some newer servers I had laying around for DB backend work. She seemed pretty happy about that. Then I went on a work trip, came back to a blinking envelope, and saw I had been banned for having the Lulville cheerleader as my avatar. Whalecunt had laid down her SJW law in a thread I didn't see and was banninating everyone involved, including Bob.

So Bob emailed me, said he was starting a new site and I gave him all the hardware I was gonna give whalecunt. Hopefully it worked for a while. Whalecunt never followed up about the hardware donation she was looking forward to, I guess she just had hundreds of posters offering her thousands in free hardware.

I did my best to PM every decent poster on HF I knew about shaggy until whalecunt and her army of cumguzzling fuckminions shut down PMs.

And now Surly. meh. We lost a lot of good shaggy posters and got invaded by a ton of shitty ones.

Yeah, I think what I miss the most about Shaggy is the OU Gif of dominance thread.  For a few years that thread was better than anything on the internet...including porn.  I also miss the random weirdos that were drawn to Shaggy for whatever reason that got sniffed out pretty quickly.

Shit, I don't even remember when, but I somehow found Shaggy. It may have been the barbecue thing that brought me here, back when Aaron first started selling out of a trailer. It was a new barbecue frontier happening then and it was exiting. I was bouncing around barbecue blogs and stuff and googling barbecue things and ended up here.

I still mainly come here for talk about guitars, barbecue, HEB, Cowboys and Rangers. Those things haven't changed much.
