Some fans were clamoring for PK's head after the first season.  I am glad Sark chose continuity over knee jerk reaction.

I was one of those fans. I think it had a lot to do with PTSD from the Strong and Herman years. I’m glad Sark not only identified PK, but stuck with him.

An early look at the visitor list with Texas' Junior Day one week away

Jordan Scruggs

The Texas Longhorns are set to host their annual January Junior Day exactly one week from today when countless prospects make their way to the Forty Acres for the Longhorns' first major recruiting event since the end of July Texas Pool Bash.

At the time of publishing with the Junior Day over a week away, Texas is set to host over a dozen prospects ranked inside the 2026 Top247 and seven prospects ranked inside the 2026 Top 100.

With plenty of time between now and when prospects are set to arrive Saturday morning, expect at least a dozen more names to be added to the list over the next week.

Although it's unclear what the exact plans will be for the Junior Day as of yet, Horns247 is expecting the batch of visitors to get to see the home basketball game vs. Texas A&M (Tipoff set for 1:30 PM CT) on Saturday after the Longhorns had this past year's Junior Day visitors walk over to the Moody Center to watch Tyrese Hunter hit a buzzer-beating layup to knock off No. 9 ranked Baylor 75-73.

Horns247 will have more content throughout the week revolving around the Junior Day and the prospects set to partake in it, but for now, our growing visitor list reads as follows:

TEXAS COMMITS:

Dia Bell - Ft. Lauderdale (Fla.) American Heritage five-star quarterback

Chris Stewart - Pearland Shadow Creek three-star wide receiver

2026:

KJ Edwards - Carthage four-star running back

Javian Osborne - Forney four-star running back

Jalen Lott - Frisco Panther Creek four-star athlete

Jabari Mack - Destrehan (La.) four-star wide receiver

John Turntine III - North Crowley five-star offensive tackle

Max Wright - Melissa offensive tackle

Zaden Krempin - Prosper four-star interior offensive lineman

Drew Evers - Flower Mound three-star interior offensive lineman

Nic Robertson - Klein three-star

Pupungatoa Katoa - Euless Trinity three-star interior offensive lineman

Dylan Berymon - Monroe (La.) Ouachita Parish four-star defensive lineman

Bryce Perry-Wright - Buford (Ga.) four-star defensive lineman

Jamarion Carlton - Temple four-star EDGE

Shaun Scott - Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star EDGE/LB

Yahya Gaad - Medina (Tenn.) South Gibson EDGE

DaQuives Beck - Carthage four-star linebacker

Tank King - Port Arthur Memorial three-star linebacker

Jamarion Vincent - Waco Connally four-star cornerback

Brock King - Port Arthur Memorial three-star cornerback

Isaiah Williams - Fort Bend Marshall three-star safety

Donovan Webb - Frisco Panther Creek safety

2027:

K'Adrian Redmond - Lake Dallas defensive lineman

Zane Rowe - Denton Guyer EDGE

Maybe already posted but Jalen Lott's father James played DB and high jumped for Texas, and his mom played hoops for Texas.  Have to think we've got a decent inside track on that one, assuming he's deemed a take.

He was an outstanding defensive back, and an even better high jumper. Yeah, he high jumped for Texas, to the tune of winning three NCAA national championships in the event, two in indoor and one in outdoor.

The thing about legacies these days is that you can still land them, all things equal. However, when everyone else knows the player is a legacy, they’re going to make sure they help that kid get his market value from the home team.

There's an outstanding "hi" from Gerry out there who is publicly committing next weekend. Might be him.

Speaking of legacies, Kaydon Finley is apparently going to be at Notre Dame next weekend. Was at A&M last weekend.

I’ve said it before but WR is going to be interesting this cycle. I’m assuming the number is 3-4? Already have Stewart committed and I’m sure we will go big game hunting for a guy or two.

You’re being overly optimistic. I do expect Lott to be a Longhorn in the end though.

The IOL from Klein makes the most sense.

I find myself wondering if Stewart sticks with the commitment, or is allowed to stick with it. The number is almost always going to be 3 or more, especially with numbers going to 105. Of course, that might be why Stewart stays committed as an inexpensive 4th guy on a larger roster.

They are going to go after a WR in the spring if they’re able to get traction with the right one.

I think the guy visiting next week from Florida is definately top three on the board.  Maybe the guy from Louisiana as well, Jabari Mack.

Louisiana will be interesting this cycle with where LSU is at. There is that DT we like as well out of Louisiana who named us his leader a few weeks back.

The 2023 cycle seemed to be a wake up call to Kelly and LSU when quite a few high profile guys left the state. They have done better the last two classes at getting the dudes they want. Hiring a competent defensive staff probably helped too.

Does James live in Corpus Christi?

His kid is in Katy, at least, but might just be a football move-in given how strong Panther Creek has been: https://www.on3.com/db/jalen-lott-162650/

Also, this is the Spring Klein IOL: https://www.on3.com/db/nicolas-robertson-176500/ - only a three star, but someone Flood has been on from the jump with big offers

Sarkisian, allegedly, is falling in love with the concept of optionality. Winston, Townsend, and Niblett are all variants of that at different sizes and the scatback with two initials for a first name in this 2026 cycle is also being valued in the same way. What that eventually means for the evolution of this offense, if it does evolve at all, is anyone’s guess.

I'm assuming that's KJ Edwards from Carthage: https://www.on3.com/db/kj-edwards-162061/

They live in Frisco. This is Frisco Panther Creek, one of the newest hs for Frisco. Probably on # the 1726353 hs now.

Thanks. Mixed it up with Katy Mayde Creek and Pearland Shadow Creek, so I was wrong in two directions. We've gotta get back to naming high schools after interesting people.

The Panther Creek S is the number one target at that spot on the board. Not saying there won’t be other targets, but he is number one. That includes the potentially higher ranked dude out of N Crowley.

We don't seem to have publicly offered him. He got Ohio State, though.

Also, this is the only North Crowley DB I could find in the class. Not exactly raking P4 offers yet.

Really hope that the N. Crowley safety gets his offer soon and Texas becomes a player in the recruitment. Former player who came through our little league program. I’d love for another one of our guys to play at Texas. Coach BG is coming by N. Crowley Wednesday and they expect an offer to go out if everything matches up n person. Ended the season really well. Great range for safety and is about to blow up ranking wise. Need to get stronger to help in the run game cause he isn’t a strong tackler right now.

Based on his HUDL, the FB Marshall safety that Gerry likes isn't such a strong tackler either and almost all of his film is of tackling rather than defending the pass. What do you think our national DB board looks like?

I don’t have an opinion since I haven’t seen either. The word is that they’re planning on taking 2 true safeties, so maybe both guys get the push. The thinking as of last week that I heard is that the Panther Creek guy is a better football player and the North Crowley dude is more athletic but might not ever be the better football.

Why wouldn’t they take both guys? Maybe they will or maybe they have someone else ranked higher than both as a priority. Not sure yet.

I could see that being the case. AB is just starting to figure out how to not just rely on his gifts. But he is as athletic as they come.

At the end of the day I just wonder if they pick one of the two and try to match them with a safety who can play in the box. We shall see.

I think you had asked about the two guys being lowly rated to some effect? If so, and I haven’t checked rankings yet for the 2026 class, but both of the dudes we’re talking about are going to be big time P4 targets, including Texas. The way I’ve heard them spoken about, they sound like top 150 guys.

It sounds like both guys would lean UT. If the number does move to 105, I do think that increases the likelihood that Texas tries to get greedy in certain spots.
