Would be hilarious if this guy committed this weekend after this was just put in by the aggy Rivals mod.

This is one of the guys early on that Texas would take. He's the initialed scatback that I have been referencing, whose name I never bothered to fully look up. Now, they've invited a number of RBs to the first junior day. I'm curious to see how all of this plays out. This dude is like 5'8" for real though.

Ahead of the first Junior Day and with things being really early, I'm posting my predictions on the class. It's freaking January, so usually, with this much time between now and December, the final list looks way different. Still entertaining and funny later in review though.

Total class rank: 3rd

QB (1): Dia Bell

TB (2): Javian Osborne, KJ Edwards

WR (3): Kaydon Finley, Naeem Burroughs, James Scott

TE (1): Tayfuk Ifino

OT (2): John Turntine III, Max Wright

IOL (3): Toa Katoa, Nicolas Robertson, Zaden Krempin

Edge (2): Jamarion Carlton, Kevin Ford, JR

DT (4): Dylan Berymon, Jaimeon Winfield, Tika Hola, Bryce Perry Wright

LB (3): Kosi Okpala, Anthony Davis, Xavier Griffin

CB (2): Jalen Lott, Unknowny McUnknownster

S/NB (3): Donovan Webb, Chace Calicut, Isaiah Williams

I think Texas gets 2-3 commitments from this weekend, with Robertson being one of them.

Isn't that 2027 Mater Dei TE supposed to be reclassifying that they say is the next Brock Bowers? I think I recall seeing an article that we're his top school or one of his top schools.

That's a good point. I know they felt like they have a shot with him either way.

To add on to this, some of the $9.95ers are starting to hint that our current WR commit won't be in the class.  Miami has jumped in, OU has offered his DB brother (who we aren't recruiting), and have said don't expect him to show this weekend.

Yeah, I don’t expect Stewart to be a part of the class, so I ignored him for my list.

That would be a bad offensive line class. Max Wright is terrible and that interior class is meh.

Robertson has Bama, Penn State, and LSU offers. Krempin has Ohio State, Michigan, Penn State, and LSU. Katoa has Tennessee, Oregon, and Miami. Wright has Michigan.

Who knows what their boards look like, but their offer lists don't suck.

I read Tayfuk’s first name trying to figure out how he could possibly pronounce it.

I was trying to guess the ethnicity of Tayfuk’s parents? Japanese? Somewhere else in Asia? Or maybe American, but with a different background and emphasis on education when compared to my family.

Then I moved onto his last name. Ifino could possibly be Italian (pronounced “eef-EE-no”, of course), but it didn’t really jibe with that first name.

Then I imagined what kind of last name I would make up to go with that first name and…

Yeah, I know the offers. Krempin looks good and of course Turntine looks great. Those other guys are Jags. And Wright has terrible feet.  Look as the tape of Wirght and then look at Sam Utu who 247 lists as an interior lineman or Immanuel Iheanacho who is the number 2 rated OT - https://www.hudl.com/profile/19956945/Immanuel-Iheanacho

Pretty positive note.

(3 big names - Jalen Lott, Dylan Berymon, Jamarion Carlton. (2 top 60 comp, 1 top 100 (247)).  Two of them DLs.)

With the 2024-25 football season in the books, Texas is hosting its first Junior Day event of the new year. The group will consist of plenty of top targets set to check out Austin and meet with the Longhorns coaching staff.

While we could have gone a variety of ways here, let's take at three prospects who could eventually find their way on the Texas commit list.

I'm a big, big fan of Frisco (Texas) Panther Creek Top100 receiver Jalen Lott and in the end, I'd be pretty surprised if he didn't pick Texas as his eventual landing spot. The 6-0, 170-pounder from the class of 2026 is a tremendous talent, one 247Sports ranks as the No. 59 overall player in the nation. His father played football at Texas, his mother played basketball at Texas, and when it all comes down to it, I could see him following in their footsteps.

Monroe (La.) Ouachita Parish Top100 defensive lineman Dylan Berymon is someone believed to be a lock or heavy lean to LSU. However, if he ends up at Texas, I won't be all that shocked. Texas seems to always make Louisiana a priority and I could see them pulling off an upset here and securing one of the nation's best. It won't be easy to get the 6-1, 305-pounder to leave home, but the Longhorns are one of the last ones I'd bet against for Berymon.

I think Temple (Texas) High Top100 defensive lineman Jamarion Carlton eventually picks Texas. The 6-4, 238-pounder, who was impressive at the Navy All-American Bowl, is someone I see landing in Austin with the Longhorns. The staff is doing a really nice job so far and needs to just seal the deal. This weekend could move the needle and get them one step closer to an eventual commitment.

Well yes, if we compare Max Wright to the #5 overall player in the country we are probably going to come away unimpressed.

Sweet. Screenshots or this feature are huge for me because Twitter is blocked by my work. Which, let's be honest here, that's where a lot of my browsing happens.

Awesome, thank you. Screenshotting from a phone is a huge hassle.

All I'm talking about is feet. He is a bit like a baby giraffe and would have problems with both speed rushers like Ford and bull rushers like Berymon. Sam Utu is rated 74 in the country and use as a comparison. Felix Ojo is rated #29 in the country so I guess he is too highly regarded to compare. Ojo has better feet than Wright but not great feet and he leans too far forward, doesn't keep his feet under him and loses balance.

Don’t challenge Bevo on OL evals. He’s the same guy who told us that 5 star Brandon Baler would challenge for playing time at some point while he was on campus.

I like Brandon Baker as a player so you must be confused or missed a word like early playing time.
