Earl Thomas holding out

The NFLPA isn't bad, they just aren't out to protect the star players like Earl.

Last negotiation, they got guaranteed money in rookie contracts, salary floor, and a higher minimum (and less practice :-/).  They are trying to protect the guys putting in the work that don't make the highlight reels.  The vast majority of their union isn't the $10M/year guys.

Sucks.  Hope the players can fucking beat the owners next CBA.

NFL players simply don't have the leverage.  Outside of a some QBs and maybe 3 or 4 pass rushers, players aren't as important to their league as NBA, MLB, or even hockey players are to their respective leagues.  Their average careers are right around 3 yrs so there's a conveyor belt of new players who will be ready to replace these guys immediately.

Nice financial protection for ET:

The source said the deal includes $32 million fully guaranteed at signing, with $22 million coming in the first nine months.

Fantastic news that the injury didn't screw him as badly as everyone feared.

pretty sure he just cracked his fibula and that heals better than a bad ankle sprain.  he was always going to be 100% in 2019.  if anyone feared for his long-term future it was probably just idiot journalists.

This article show just how good ET is.

https://www.fieldgulls.com/2019/5/19/18631350/who-step-up-seattle-seahawks-legion-of-boom-officially-gone-flowers-griffin-blair-chancellor-thomas

With @KamChancellor, @RSherman_25, and @Earl_Thomas all gone, the original Legion of Boom era is officially over. Let's take a look back at their team coverage grades:

2011: 89.3 coverage grade (2nd)
2012: 92.7 coverage grade (1st)
2013: 94.0 coverage grade (1st)

2014: 90.3 coverage grade (3rd)
2015: 90.8 coverage grade (3rd)
2016: 82.9 coverage grade (14th)
2017: 92.6 coverage grade (3rd)

Seahawks' coverage grade last season: 79.4 (14th)

2016 and 2018 are the two seasons ET missed large parts of.

“earl thomas.  DBU.”

so nice to hear it, even if we’re playing like rancid asshole.  refreshing to think back not too long ago to the days of huff, earl, griffin, et al.

Pay akina whatever it takes to get him back.

I was in Sydney two years ago when Stanford was playing their opener vs Rice at Allianz Stadium.  Couple days before the game crossed paths with Akina and some of the team while riding a ferry in the harbor.  Flashed him a hookem and he came straight over and talked to me for 10 minutes.  Kept saying how much he enjoyed his time in Austin and what a “magical time that was.”  He introduced me to his Asian wife and was so eager to talk all things UT.  Nicest dude you’ll ever meet.

cool story, bro.
