I think the show runners decided not to push it and end it the way they wanted to.

Yeah, no way that Paramount doesn’t go with the five year mission, given the Pike backstory.  Fans want that.

There is also the chance that Paramount will say “fuck it” and Strange New Worlds will do it’s five years and then smoothly segue into a “new” series with the start of Kirk, Uhura, Nurse Chapel, Spock, Scotty, etc.  All we are missing is Chekhov, Sulu, Rand, and Bones, and it would be easy to cast and intro those characters over the next two years of SNW, and Paramount wouldn’t have to build new sets.

Hell, I think that’s why we have Kirk and Scotty already. I bet they do it.

I never thought I’d say this, but if they give us SNW up to Pike’s disfigurement and then segue into Kirk’s Enterprise, I will watch the shit out of it. I have no idea where that thought came from, because I fucking loathe the Abrams movies, but I’m perfectly fine with them giving us a season or two of Kirk’s Enterprise.

I can’t believe I just said that.

They’ll do Star Trek: Legacy after that.

I hope they don't segue into Kirk's enterprise and re-do season 1/2 of TOS.

Do something different.  Post-Enterprise/Pre-Disco is a big time period - literally 100 years (2155-2256).  In between LD/Prodigy and Picard too (2380-2399) too.

And lest we forget, we are getting Tawny's live action comedy Trek as well

I did not have the Cerritos 69ing with a different Cerritos on my bingo card

Let's get freaky!

T'Lynn is my current season 5 MVP
Glad Tendi was only away for from the Cerritos for 2 episodes
Bointers!

I’m pleased with this episode.  Between this and What We Do in the Shadows, and with Agatha, I’ve got a nice little weekly roundup to follow.

Here’s hoping Lower Decks and Shadows finish strong.

Went over to my dad's last night, we're now on the last 5 episodes of DS9. We saw "Strange bedfellows" last night. I'm gonna go back today and tomorrow and we'll finish the series. I forgot how fucking awesomely evil Kai Winn is during these last few episodes, she's repugnant. I always thought leaving Gul Dukat as a blind beggar on Bajor would have been a much better fate for him.

Leonard Nimoy Reaction GIF

“Unification,” a new short created with the use of a combination of archival footage and CGI imposed over actors (with Kirk himself played by both William Shatner and actor Sam Witwer, and Spock by Lawrence Selleck), takes Captain Kirk on a brief trip though his memories, before watching the sun rise with an ailing Spock.

Spoiler

It’s a mostly silent short, save for a single line from Kirk lifted from The Wrath of Khan: “There are always possibilities, Spock said. And if Genesis is indeed life from death… I must return to this place, again.”

Looks fun. Can someone remind me what timeline this takes place in?

Georgiou was sent back to "her own time" by the Guardian of Forever in Discovery season 3, so presumably this is sometime around SNW.

So I decided to take the plunge into complete nerdom. I'm watching every episode of every season of every series in airdate order along with the movies. I've seen probably 90% of TNG episodes, first season of Discovery, first season of Picard, and 90% TOS episodes over my life but that's it on the TV shows (not a single episode of Enterprise, TAS, DS9, SNW, Lower Decks, Prodigy, or Voyager in my life) so I have a shit ton to watch. Luckily, I take long lunch breaks every day and knock out an episode or two a day that way and can have a day here and there where I'm lazy and just hit 4 at once.

Right now I'm on TOS S2E10

So 440 days later and I'm on TOS S3E14. I'm currently on pace to die somewhere in the middle of TNG with an average lifespan.

I'm so ready for TNG but so much TAS and movies to go once I finish TOS.

You should watch Strange New Worlds.

And skip Discovery and the Abrams movies.

After TOS, given @SimonBolivar's past knowledge of the Star Trek universe, I would watch Discovery S2 which is basically SNW season 0.5, then watch SNW.

And definitely skip the Abrams movies.

Ready Room looks to be over and there’s lots of terth-gnashing that Paramount is cutting the fat ahead of the acquisition, but the fact is, that it probably didn’t cost much, and it’s competing with a shitload of well-produced YouTube shows.  Hell, there’s third-party YouTube shows that have 2-3 times as many views in just a single day.

It really has been the joy of a lifetime celebrating the Star Trek universe with you. This latinum age of Star Trek has brought us so many wonderful characters and storylines, and there is so much more ahead.

With Strange New Worlds, Section 31, and Starfleet Academy all on the horizon — and more adventures in the final frontier to come — Gene Roddenberry’s vision of an optimistic future has never been more necessary or brighter. In the words of Captain Jean-Luc Picard, let’s see what’s out there.”
