Yes, exactly the same amount, even.

I’d say it’s on you to prove we are going to be in the SEC in 10 months since you’re so confident. Considering they didn’t cancel our Alabama return game, released the 2023 conference schedule and OU can’t afford to leave

Pretty cool news...for those of you with YouTubeTv this weeks game will be streamed in 4K( native 4K is also commercial-free)

https://tvanswerman.com/2022/10/11/will-there-be-an-espn-4k-game-of-the-week-this-week/amp/

The 4K option on YouTubeTV is an extra $15-$20 per month and the available content is very sparse the last time I checked. This will make me consider a trial run.

He’s likely to take Helms spot and Helm could take Karic’s. Now, those guys are bigger receiving threats than before

Helm has been a good blocker, but not appreciably better than JT if at all. I haven’t watched Karic enough to see if he’s been irreplaceable.

So its worth burning the free 30 day trial on YouTubeTV for 4K but you have to be in the 1% to think the $20 a month 4K package is worth it.  First of all there is next to zero 4K football content.  Maybe 3 college games a week.  Some weeks, just 2.  ZERO NFL 4K.  I say that because while the NFL is not my favorite sport (FBS is), it is THE most favorite sport and there is no 4K NFL on YouTubeTV.  I honestly have no idea how they are selling subs to this package.  I got the trial for the Alabama-Texas game and just canceled this weekend to avoid the charge.

Finally, 4K without HDR is complete dogshit and stupid.  HDR is way more noticeable than native 4k vs upscaled 108P to 4K.  Like it's not even close.  I would bet 95% of humans can't tell a difference between upscaled 1080P and native 4K while almost anyone can tell HDR v no HDR.

We’re going to beat the shit out of them.  ISU isn’t holding Ewers’ Texas to less than 30 points.  I expect Texas to score at least 40.

It made sense for our early 2000s teams to have a let down in a spot like this, where we already had the top 5 ranking and a ton of national attention and media suckoff.  But this year’s team is outside the top 20 and is still being questioned by many, given the past decade of Texas not being back.  The current narrative is that OU is actually a garbage team (which they might be now) and Texas will struggle against a “real” defense (which ISU might be).  But OU always gives us their best shot, regardless of how “bad” they are, and ISU has in no way played an offense yet this season that is capable of doing the things that Ewers’ Texas is about to do to them.  It’s going to be glorious to watch.

The point is, our team took a major step forward together on Saturday — winning our rivalry game, in that atmosphere, on that stage, in the way we did — and is now gelling better than ever before.  The team is hungry for more, and it still has so much to prove.  The crowd at DKR this weekend will infuse the team with the social facilitation and positive energy that it loves feeding off of.  The fan base is finally completely bought in for the first time in years, and we’ll see it on the field this week.

I’m getting a major 2008-Mizzou like vibe from this ISU game.  In 2008, we had just come off of a major win against OU and it was followed by hosting a highly rated Missouri team at home.  Questions surrounded Texas’ ability to not have a let down after such an emotional and awesome win the preceding week.  The result was, we beat the shit out of Missouri.  The crowd atmosphere at DKR was electric, and we had put the game away by halftime.  We’ll see that again on Saturday.

The kicker on the. 4k package is the unlimited home streams, and the increase in accounts/non-home streams.

I think it’s kinda dumb on the profile side, but whatever.

1968 Texas lost the second game of the season 31-22 to Texas Tech in Lubbock.  We ran the table and beat Tennessee 36-13 in the Cotton Bowl and had a 30-game winning streak.  Let's do this

30 years later Texas started 3-2, kicked the shit out of OU 34-3, lost a 3rd game late in the season in Lubbock then went 119-24 over the next 11 seasons.

I'm an idiot and only took 'Business Math' - but doesn't Points Per Drive Allowed do this better?  What does it matter if you have a high stop rate but allow more points because you're giving up TD's rather FG's when the opponent does score?

In the list above - Michigan has a higher 'Stop Rate' than Illinois but is giving up 27% more points per drive.

Points per drive is more variable game to game. Stop rate is thought to be more predictive of future defensive success. Similar to pressures being more predictive of sacks than actual sack numbers.

If you're talking about on the same display then I agree. The monitor/TV makes a bigger difference than the source resolution.

I can still easily tell the difference with certain media, though, if it's on a 2k or 4k monitor. But most of my experience is with video games and downloaded movies or TV - not live streaming.

Stop rate is a little better, because it takes some of the "luck" out of it . Pts per drive doesnt take in account for field position of the drive. (not sure how missed Fgs are accounted for in Stop rate)

Beyond that we’re both UT and wear an orange shade of color?

a) Fans dealing with 10 to 12 years of negatively reinforced behavior patterns.

b) Leaving the house up 15 points in the second quarter

c) You are up 28 points sit down it is going to be OK

d) Needing to cattle prod fans like @satyanash for "7 points wiped off the board in 2 plays" at 1:04 pm versus OU

Can we arrange a fan swap where we ship Satya off to Ames in exchange for Al4ISU? We could do it at the 50 yard line right before the coin toss if Satya wasn't an agoraphobe.

Spoiler

Stop rate is back.

If you’ve been waiting a few weeks for the first edition of the 2022 stop rate standings, thank you for your patience. If you completely forgot about it, hopefully this is a pleasant surprise.

What is stop rate? It’s a basic measurement of success: the percentage of a defense’s drives that end in punts, turnovers or a turnover on downs. This simple metric can offer a more accurate reflection of a defense’s effectiveness in today’s faster-tempo game than yards per game or points per game. We’ve been tracking this for each of the past five seasons (here are the final standings for 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018 and 2017) along with every defense’s points per drive average.

Because we filter out games against FCS opponents for these standings, it’s usually best to wait a month and let these defenses play at least four FBS opponents before the stop rates start to become more meaningful. It’s finally time to dig into this data.

Last season, the top 25 teams in stop rate went a combined 257-78 (.767). Sixteen of them won 10 or more games, and six won conference titles. Georgia’s defense finished No. 1 with a stop rate of 84 percent over its 15 games and 83.4 percent against FBS opponents, the best we’ve seen in our five years of tracking this statistic. The national champs set a new standard for season-long dominance. Can any defense raise the bar in 2022?

So far, Minnesota has been the best of the best at 85 percent. The 4-1 Gophers have the No. 1 third-down defense in the country with stops on 46 of 56 attempts. They’re best in the country in total defense, they’re playing the fewest plays per game (50.8) and they’ve only allowed six red-zone trips though five games. This unit was very good last year in defensive coordinator Joe Rossi’s third season and was off to a dominant start through four games before a 20-10 loss to Purdue. With tough road tests up next at Illinois and Penn State, we’re about to find out if they’re the real deal.

There are three more Big Ten defenses in the top five this week. Michigan and Penn State were two of the best in stop rate last season, so their strong starts aren’t surprising. The one that is most impressive is Illinois. Defensive coordinator Ryan Walters is a rising star in the business and is leading a group that is currently No. 1 in scoring defense and yards per play and No. 2 in the red zone. The Illini have 13 takeaways and just three touchdowns allowed through six games.

The best stop rate defense in the SEC thus far belongs to Alabama, not Georgia. The Crimson Tide have forced more punts (62) than any other defense in the FBS thanks to a No. 2 ranked third-down defense that is allowing a mere 1.76 yards per play in those situations.

James Madison has been so impressive in its debut season at the FBS level, and defense is a big reason behind the Dukes’ rise to No. 25 in the AP poll. They are currently No. 7 in stop rate and are the best in the country against the run, allowing just 210 yards on 1.4 yards per carry through five games. They’re also No. 1 at forcing three-and-outs, doing so on 59 percent of all drives, and are playing the fewest plays per drive (4.19) of any defense. But the best Group of 5 defense in the stop rate standings thus far has been San Jose State, which gave up 24 points in a close loss to Auburn but has held every other opponent to 17 points or less.

Iowa has consistently been one of the best defenses in stop rate in recent years and is back in the top 10 this season (right behind rival Iowa State) with a pass defense that’s No. 1 in yards per attempt. In case you were wondering, Iowa’s offense is getting stopped on 81 percent of all drives this season. Ohio State has also moved into the top 10 under first-year defensive coordinator Jim Knowles. His Oklahoma State defense ranked No. 4 in stop rate last season, and he has the Buckeyes at No. 10 through six games after they finished 22nd a year ago.

How are the rest of the defenses across the country performing in stop rate? Here are the full FBS-only stop rate standings through Week 6.

Yeah, I laughed in a nervous way watching it. The video hit way too close to home.

the first one is more play design. That is legit run fake with a pulling guard. That tends to suck up the defenders and the flat guy flashes to keep the eyes locked short. The 2nd one is dead right. He bailed early. He did have a Favre moment on the one pass that was a dropped int. The B- is a bit harsh, because he had some incredible throws. Bijan one, which you could say was a bad decision (but damn, what a throw). The throws to Sanders were NFL level. Even the throw back to JWhitt was in that category. Yes, he is wide open, but not many QBs can throw across the field and it get it there in a hurry. The difference between most young Qbs and Ewers is he made some mistakes, but he also made some NFL throws. Its just my opinion, but QB grades generally come down to about 10 throws in Sark's offense. There is a lot of easy throws out there, but what you do with the 10 throws makes the difference. Card struggled on those 10 throws. Ewers for the most part makes plays. I take it as a positive. He only has 8 quarters of play and just came back after a month off, so making a some mistakes in a game is not a unexpected. He is still learning and growing. We are watching an unfinished product and it is only going to get better. I would be encouraged that you watched a B performance from Quinn in the Cotton Bowl. (Bama was an A)

learn me on something.   For upcoming games, why isnt' the broadcasting network or the kickoff time known well in advance?  I'm guessing the time is determined by the network, so then why isn't the network known? For example, the 10/22 game vs. OK State - will it be ESPN, FS1, FOX, ABC??  Shouldn't the networks have their crews ready far in advance to travel, equipment and other logistics, not to mention their other regularly scheduled programming.  It's very strange, as if we're still in the 1970s, so disorganized.
