I figured pre season that an off game from Ewers would cost this team a game or two. That was today and they stole it back. Fortunate to win, yes, but you’ll take it.

Today did not, however, inspire any confidence that Sark and PK are about to go 4-1 in a stretch that includes three road games against teams that can score, which might be required to get to Arlington.

The back of our schedule was always going to be tougher than the first part. Blowing that Tech game hurt because we have to make it up against TCU, OSU or Kansas. (Baylor blows we should run all over them)

Yeah, have a feeling we’re going to look back on that as an albatross.

I forget who it was, but I saw some commentator talking about teams being due a down game. If college teams play a couple of good games they tend to follow them up with a bad game. I guess Texas was due a let down and I'm glad we still won. Hopefully they got it out of their system and come out fired up next week.

Super glad and relieved we won.

Ugly and sloppy.

Outsmarted ourselves not running RoJo left more late. They had no answer for that. Thompson needed more help out there on the right side. Cain, aaaggh! Passing game very hot and cold. Not sure exactly what that’s about except hopefully the rust on chemistry between Ewers and receivers we thought we’d see last week. Our feet are pretty much full of bullet holes. Here’s hoping next week is prettier. Hook’em!

Honestly don't understand how some of these people make it through a season without multiple suicide attempts.

But shit, maybe they don't. Their stupidity would certainly see them fail at that as well.

We still have Ewers and Bijan.  I’m still jacking it to 49-0, and a close win over ISU won’t change that.  Nice to be on the other side of this shit for a change.

Sark had nothing to do with this. He called a great game on offense, and we saw Ewers and the OL actually look like freshmen and mess up.

PK, on the other hand... that soft zone coverage on third down pretty much guarantees the opposing offense will convert. It's painful to watch.

This is dumb. Fans react to the play in the game. When its ass we bitch, when it's good we cheer. Fuck , watching the first quarter how can you not bitch. Watching the play calling at times how can you not bitch. Watching the defense at times how can you not bitch. Glad we won and always want us to win but fuck you.if i.can't get involved in the moment and react. Don't care if I react over or under but I am engaged in the game.

Shut the fuck up if you don't like it. Its how message boards work.

There was plenty to complain about. ISU got allergic to pigskin the last two plays, and with that and RoJo+Bijan+X being amazing, we got the win.

And if you heard Sark's after-game presser, he didn't think too highly of our play today, either.

I think Sark called a pretty good game today, in general. He has some situational blind spots but nothing like we see on the defensive side. It was frustrating to see so much left on the field by Texas. Shades of last year for sure.

Referring to him was more a nod to three of the last five being on the road. If you're not familiar with Sark's career record on the road... Well, maybe don't go look it up, so you can feel optimistic about the next couple games.

Kansas just gave up 700 yards to a team we beat 49-0.

Would you also compare the Texas offense with Ewers vs full time RoCat?

I get it, I have many of the same thoughts.  But sometimes it's better to just acknowledge it internally and go on to the next play.  Not every single thought needs to be expressed.  That's what irritates the fuck out of me.

I saw the Tech game. And I'm still on record that our ceiling this year is 7 wins. Every flaw I said we'd have was on display today. They were on display last week, too, despite the beatdown. And that judgment was based, and still is, on the players we're throwing out there.

We've got absolute studs at RB, a couple great WRs, and everyone else is an underclassman on offense; on defense, our back 7 are dubious.

What I'm looking for most this year is week-over-week improvement. And so far, I'm seeing it. Especially on OL.

This is the key.  We're young/thin at some key positions.  Player dev (OL) is vital.

Arky lived on this fact for decades scheduled the week after OU week. But for that, they'd likely have a Rice like record against Texas. It's been a while since we've beaten OU consistently but this has always been a trap week regardless of the opponent.

Yeah, the game threads will be garbage if we're playing poorly. And sometimes when we aren't.

I can't remember what coach said "you take the gritty wins with the pretty wins" or something like that.

Hey, the team did not show they were going to give up.

That's another win within the win.

That's all I got.

I’m just thankful ISU stopped throwing the 15 yard slant.  It was there every time they threw it … and probably would have been open anytime they wanted it.

I have a feeling we’d still be waiting for a defensive adjustment …

Usually I’m pretty calm during the game and don’t post a bunch of negative shit but I just can’t stand watching this defense, time after time, give up an easy long 3rd down conversion where the closest defender is 3 yards away.  I was losing my shit today.  The Texas secondary looked like they had never played football before today’s game.

They looked like every game they've played this year. OU let us off the hook because their backup couldn't throw. ISU let us off the hook because their stud, Hutchinson, suddenly forgot how to catch the ball. But our pass defense has been ass all year. I'm well beyond angry about it now. We just need more better bodies and possibly a stellar DB coach or two, because PK doesn't know shit about the secondary.

Is Akina available?

This is me as well.  I don't expect to win every game - especially big.  Other than some officiating calls, I didn't bitch one time during the Bama game.  I did bitch quite a bit today because of the stupid defensive calls.

If you ever went to a youth little league game where fans were cheering the teams, occasional c'mon coach.  Well the game thread isn't that. It's the 10yr old game where fans are screaming at their kids the other teams kids, umpires, coaches, the other fans and their own fans all while drinking out of their yeti cups filled with "water". Surely we can find middle ground.

I;m more pissed that the people around me in the stands got political about stupid bullshit than any football play on the field.... WTF people.
