Where is the optimism coming from in regards to them having no qb or Sanders not playing? Has this been reported somewhere? Even if he's dinged up - can't imagine they don't throw him out there if he did end up finishing out last week's game.

Now a lot of his success does seem to come from him extending plays with his legs and use in the qb run game, so I suppose if he's not 100% that's probably good for us.

He looked super banged up at the end of the TCU game, and the Vegas lines moved wildly against OSU, which usually implies they've sniffed something important out. It's all just tea leaves.

One theory is that they shot Sanders up before the TCU game because he looked great in the first half, and then it wore off or he got hurt more and he looked horrible in the second half.

I can see that.  He was 8-19 for 116 yards and a pick in the second half.  And I didn't see the game, but heard that the last couple of offensive possessions his arm looked like dogshit.

that last INT he threw on the bomb (missing the WR that had 3 steps on the DB) looked like his arm was a little gimpy.  or at least made sense after the fact.

100% this.

When Sanders misses on deep throws, it's always long, and he severely underthrew a wide open Brayden Johnson on that throw.

If he's 100%, he hits that throw, Johnson walks into the end zone and we go up 2 TDs again with about 7 minutes left and the game is likely over.  Oh well.

Nobody is buying that Sanders isn’t playing this week.

He’s going to play and play lights out, buoyed by some Make a Wish kid whose dying dream is to watch Sanders lead the Pokes to victory over bad old Texas after the boy idolized his grandfather, a former osu walk-on whose only snap came against the Longhorns in the final game of his career, whose jersey the boy will be wearing tomorrow at 3:30, flanked by his tearful mother and father, and the entire team of referees for the game.

We’re doomed.

Nice to see our punter getting credits on that film.

It's either that or we're going to witness the start of the Heisman campaign of whatever spare back up QB they roll out there to start the game.  There is no other way.

I'm fascinated to watch the gameplanning and coaching in this game. Will it be a fast pace shootout type game or will the pace be more like Horns/cyclones game.   Both of these teams tend to have good special teams so that will be fun to watch.

Comments

  • Sure seems like okie lite at home might want to slow their pace against Texas, and attempt to exploit our DEs with wide runs and jet sweeps.
  • Curious to see Sark's playcalling this Saturday -- might see Texas throw early to help set up the run.
  • Turnovers are gonna be big in this game.  Watch out for okie lite DEs -- they're good.  Expect okie lite to take more risks on defense.
  • Hope the Horns defense stops trend of substituting multiple LBs and DBs together -- Cyclones offense whipped our 2nd group.
  • Not sure okie lite wants another shootout type game like tcu.  Keep game close for 4th quarter and hope homefield  advantage leads to a win.

This okie lite guy says both QBs for Cowboys will play Saturday.  He's hoping Coach Gundy:

  • Slows down pace, ball control to limit possessions for Texas offense
  • Let's Okie lite LBs blitz more
  • Stops dropping DEs into pass coverage
  • Gambles more -- says Coach Gundy needs to take more risks and not punt so much
  • RBs Jaden Nixon & Ollie Gordon will get more carries than in past games
  • Presley slot WR will hurt Texas
  • Defense needs Oliver and Trace Ford to play great

This makes no sense. If Sanders can play he's going to play the entire game.

That sounds like somebody who has no clue if Sanders is going to play so he's hedging his bets.

What's a go-to place in Stillwater for a pregame lunch?
Joes is fun but will be extremely packed. Also the Garage on the opposite corner isn't too bad. I'll be heading that way early in the AM.

Man, fuck all this hand-wringing. In Quinn I trust. He's gonna run out of the tunnel at T Boone Pickens like he did at the RRS, with his horns in the air and relishing in the hate from the crowd.

These tables never make sense.

So TCU has a better chance of making the playoffs than us (5.2% to 3.5%) but a much worse chance of winning the conference championship (19.7% to 57.1%)?

They're not making the playoffs if they lose the championship game.

And considering they're picking TCU to go 10-2 and us to go 9-3, they must expect TCU to beat us in the regular season, then us to beat them in the conference championship?

Or is conf_champ just saying the odds we'll make the game but not necessarily win?

If TCU is projected to have 2 regular season losses, who do they lose to? Has to be us and maybe KSU? Or ISU? If they lose to us in regular season, they'll lose again in the B12 championship. FatPat won't let them beat us.

It's a statistical model, not a straight prediction. The path where TCU wins the B12 and advances to the Playoff is more likely than our Playoff chances, regardless of the other paths.

Yes. TCU is undefeated. We have 2 losses. They're basically saying that TCU has a 1/4ish chance of making the CFP if they win the B12. Whereas Texas has a 1/11 chance of making the CFP if we win the B12.

Hopefully we can get them to 4th down.  ISU just went ahead and converted on 3rd, regardless of distance.
