Texas Women’s Basketball 2022-2023: Get on board or get out the damn way

That was absolutely the right call with that offensive foul. Rori had legal guarding position (both fee on the floor and facing the defender at some point in time). Once that’s established, you can move laterally or obliquely. That was a good call.

This color girl is ass, my dude.

Yeah it looked like rori baited her into it by leaning right but keeping her feet planted and square, so when the ball handler went left, she was still right there.

Don't take another jump shot. Getting whatever we want inside.

Yeah, score or get to foul line.  When Texas is set up in defense, WVa struggles to score unless Horns foul them...

Feels like we should be leading by 15-20  but somehow they keep bringing the lead back to 5ish.

It's when our best players (Jones, Gaston, and Gonzales) go to the bench because of foul trouble.

When you take early possession jump shots that miss and lead to fast breaks for opponents, it's a lot easier for them to comeback...

KState up 1 against Iowa State headed to the 4th.

Big 12 refs call way too many fouls. It's going both ways in this game but nobody wants to see a game with these many players in foul trouble. Let them play.

We will have all 3 of these refs in the SEC

Texas will win and go 8-2 in the Big 12.  Headed to Lawrence this weekend

That could have been a trap game. Good work Horns!

Morgantown hasn’t been fun for Vic. Probably glad we only have 1 trip left there in 2024

When's last time Texas WBB & MBB had sole possession of 1st place in Conference at same time???

Probably back in the Barnes and Jody days in 03/04

42 fouls in 40 minutes.  Who wants to watch that?

No one. College ball is a foul fest

KSU clinging to a small lead. 45 seconds

At this point last year (10 games into the conference slate), Texas was 5-5.  This year, 8-2.  At this point last year, we had already played Baylor twice, in Ames and in Norman.  This year, we have only played at Baylor and hosted ISU/OU.

Winning at a higher margin this year and 2 extremely close losses on the road.

2022: 11 point win @ OSU, 13 point loss to Tech, 4 point loss to KU, 16 point win against WV, 18 point win at ISU, 21 point win at TCU, 18 point win against KSU, 2 point loss at OU, 12 point loss at Baylor, 12 point loss against Baylor (average winning margin: 13.2 points; average losing margin: 8.6 points)

2023: 46 point win against KSU, 12 point win at TCU, 4 point loss at OSU, 13 point win against KU, 15 point win against ISU, 4 point loss at Tech, 13 point win at Baylor, 20 point win against OU, 9 point win against OSU, 13 point win at WV (average winning margin: 17.6 points, average losing margin: 4 points)

ISU next 4 games (woof):

Baylor (Saturday)
@ WV (Saturday, 2/11)
Texas (Monday, 2/13)
@ Baylor (Saturday, 2/18)
(@ OSU and TCU after that)

OU next 4 games (less woof):

WV (Saturday)
@ Baylor (Tuesday, 2/7)
@ KSU (Sunday, 2/12)
Texas Tech (Wednesday, 2/15)
(@ KU and Texas right after)

Texas next 4 games:

@ KU (Saturday)
Texas Tech (Wednesday, 2/8)
TCU (Saturday, 2/11)
@ ISU (Monday, 2/13)
(WV and @ OU right after)

Texas needs to go through the 4 game stretch 4-0 or 3-1 (preferably 5-1 in that 6 game stretch) to really lock down the conference race, especially if ISU picks up 2 or 3 losses in that brutal stretch of games, and OU could drop 2 or 3 as well with their back-to-back road games, playing in Lawrence and hosting Texas.

We will have a very clear picture of the title race by mid-February, as Texas has the schedule to pull away the first 2 weeks of this month.

WV was #1 in the Big 12 in turnover margin by a lot (7.25, compared to Texas at 5.57, and 4.67 in Big 12 play compared to Texas' 3.40) and #7 nationally (7.25), and not too far behind Texas in turnovers forced per game (Texas 21.39, WV 20.7)

Texas keeping the turnover margin at 0 (18 for each team) was a win last night.

Ummmmmmmmmmm

Rori just posted an insta story about flying home to Houston "Never thought I'd be upset to fly home"

We play in Lawrence on Saturday

Edit: next one is “now we drive to Austin”

Really hope they didn’t have to go Morgantown -> Houston -> Austin -> Lawrence and now just Morgantown to Lawrence

I heard that the ice storm did a number on Austin, particularly with their power lines. Probably had something to do with it

It was only 2 weekdays between, CDC should have just let them go straight to Lawrence and avoid Austin weather mess
