Framber, Javier, Garcia, Valdez....and that's not even including current Oriole reclamation project and success story Cionel Perez.

Also we should note trades involving some of these guys that resulted in MLB returns: Wilyer Abreu and Enmanuel Valdez for Christian Vazquez and Bryan de La Cruz/Austin Pruitt for Yimi Garcia

All those guys were pitchers. I specifically said the only hole was biG money position players internationally.

Since today is the deadline for arbitration numbers to be submitted, here is MLB Trade Rumors estimates of where they’ll settle.

Mlb radio throwing around Dave Stewarts name for our GM......and spending 5 mins talking about it.

Insert Michael Scott No gif

The A's pitcher? He was pretty vocal about the scandal. He also blocked me on Twitter probably around the time of the 2020 divisional series or win Laureano got popped for PEDs. In short, fuck Dave Stewart.

So the other teams can't find Havana or what?

Oh well... happy hunting for our beloved Stros!

I believe the White Sox have a good amount of Cubans in their farm system but maybe my memory is exaggerating it.

That’s the biggest arbitration gap in MLB this year. And probably doesn’t bode well for any possible extension talks.

Yeah that was never happening (an extension).

So- made two bets in Lake Charles today:

astros over 97.5 wins -114

3 teamer to win division- Astros, Twins and Rays.  $50 to win 1650 or something like that. Plus 3250 or something like that.

Extension talks can start when the Astros are ready to drop at least $300mil

Be interesting to even see if he’d sign for 12/300 or something like that. He might think he can make 40M in arbitration and then still sign a 300M contract at 29.

I mean thats why its gambling, but yeah i would be shocked if both the Rays AND Twins win their divy

7 or 8

He’s only making 40 million in arbitration and that’s 3 years. That would mean if you were doing an 8 year contract for 300M it would be the functional equivalent of giving him a 5 year 260M deal. Which would be laughably absurd.

I would think I end up with a 1st place, 2nd place and 3rd place out of my bet and no money. But +3200 on something that could certainly happen isn’t a terrible idea.
Put another way- I could bet on UT to win the national title and only get +1700. Here I get double that on what I believe is a more plausible bet.

He might but Crane wouldn’t. We all know his philosophy with regards to ultra-long contracts.

Ain’t easy to repeat, especially now with the ridiculous expanded playoffs. Interesting that the 1920s and 1970s had 3 teams.   It’s been a while since the Jeter Yanks.  Good luck boys!

Nope. Luis Robert is light years better than Abreu right now.

Lol

Every team in baseball would take Luis Robert over Jose Abreu right now.

I don’t think it’s actually ultra long contracts- I think it’s more about the lots of money and that he’s secretly cheap. 300M is just table stakes now for any kind of star player. If you did that deal now with Tucker I’m pretty sure you’d get your moneys worth. You would have the rest of his career and he’d need to get 30 WAR. I feel like that’s likely, and the contract wouldn’t hurt, but I guess crane would rather just get over on him on his surplus value and never pay the going rate. 12/300 would be AAV of 25M, which shouldn’t hamper you at all.
I know it’s not going to happen. And I’ve made my peace with it. This is the greatest run we’ve ever had, it will never be this good again, and it’s lasted way longer than anyone would ever have reason to expect it to. I feel blessed to be an Astros fan in this moment in time.

Offer +4/150 right now. Everyone wins, barring a major injury that kills a season or changes his ability to play in the future.
