Far be it from someone from a shithole blood red state to cast aspersions but what exactly can Beto do in a state like Texas at this point?

He stood tall and was literally the ONLY leader to listen to and fight for the parents in Uvalde and those voters STILL resoundingly cast their votes for an empty wheelchair who lied and said the massacre of babies “could have been worse”.

Outside of him having actual magic powers, I don’t know what he could have done.

The Texas Democratic Party is a mess and only slightly less impotent than Greg Abbott’s penis. He built out an entire campaign infrastructure by himself and raised more money than any gubernatorial candidate in history.

The dream of Texas turning blue due to demographics is a pipe dream. Red hats from California and Colorado are replacing Texas Democrats moving out.

Y’all got any football coaches or players who can be Democratic puppets?

Governor

Arizona’s top election official, Katie Hobbs, who defended the state’s 2020 election results, is the Democrat competing with Kari Lake, a Republican and former news anchor who has become a champion of the far right.

Wasn’t she down this much at the same time in the primary?

Sorry to hear that from you, but carry on raging at rural texas and wondering why the enlightened urban Ds don't get any traction.

And you keep doing it. A complete fucking beat down. You make up monsters in your head and then you pound your keyboard thinking if you say it more it will be true.

I have no rage for rural Texas, none.  And I’m not wondering why dems don’t get traction. I grew up hyper religious, and always republican. I understand the pro life position and how it works. I understand the suspicion for liberals, gays and the dangers of the liberal universities. It’s not changing. And I’m not here to try. But keep telling me I’m something I’m not. Texas is a red state and will be for the rest of my life. I’ll live here until I no longer want to and I’m not here to change rural Texans’ minds.

my (new) state...

local newscasters can barely contain their contempt and/or glee lol, using phrases like 'complete blowout for CO gop across the state!' and 'total repudiation' and 'it's a gop bloodbath!' and 'it's almost unbelievable how bad it is!' and 'it's incredible, history making in CO politics!'

gotta say, this is a different experience 🤣

Just grinning ear to ear watching these John king house updates while the crickets chirp at McCarthy headquarters.

McCarthy is gonna have a fucking miserable time.  He’s got a smaller than expected MAGA/denier cohort who’s gonna be doubly obnoxious to make up for their fallen colleagues.  Trumps gonna continue to siphon off money from 2024 ‘hold’ strategies.  He’s got more than expected on the moderate flank who want to just govern conservatively and not spend two years unsuccessfully impeaching mid-level cabinet members.  A sweetheart drawn map served up to him on a platter by 2020 gop held statehouses barely did him any good, and he’s gotta hold a razor thin margin with his mixed bag of shit for 2-10 years?   He’s going in as one of the most compromised speakers since reconstruction.

McConnell is gonna piss on his shoes everyday.

The Dems need to figure out how to win the Hispanic vote back, energize the youth, up their turnout etc...  The GOP has made big gains in the latino vote in the last decade or so.  The state can be purple, but it would require a great deal of competence.  I'm not sure the Dems have it in them.

They should look to California then. Latinos support for the democratic party remain strong.

Yeah my daughter had UT as her first choice for law school and wanted to practice in Austin.

She abandoned that plan after the abortion stuff.

New plan was law school at University of Chicago and then maybe moving to NC.

She just texted me that NC was off the table.

And I get it - I’m seriously looking at uprooting my life to a blue state once she’s out of college and in state tuition isn’t a factor. But if voters keep siloing themselves, nothing will get better nationally and will actually get worse because of the outsized influence that small red states have in the Senate and Electoral College.

And at that point even blue states won’t be safe.

I’m really at a loss. I think within 10 years swing states will be extinct and we’ll basically have what amounts to not just two different countries but two different realities.

Justice Roberts sends his regards, and the voting rights act was just a bunch of commie libtard bullshit anyways

Same thing up in Wylie as well - similar slate of far-right candidates with outside funding - and they were all soundly defeated, even in a relatively conservative community.

This thematic defeat across the state is so refreshing. My heart is lifted.

It’s the extremism that is the problem. Voting for extremism in the other direction doesn’t fix anything.  Voting for people that hate you isn’t a great strategy either.  There’s not nearly enough people here that want Cuban style socialism for it to happen, and the people still get to choose. But choosing fascism is asking for your choice to be taken from you.

Gottdam this is good.  Truth.

I’ve got a few connections up here.  Just shoot the pics over in my PM’s.

There is still a chance to save democracy if we keep the senate.  Biden needs to STACK the fuck out of the judiciary with lifetime appointments and we need a conservative SCOTUS seat, or two, to open up.  But, there would be a 2 year window to save shit.

Yeah there's a lot of doom and gloom from the Left on here about the statewide races here but this was a very big deal IMHO. These local school board races are very important - a lot more important in your daily life than most of the statewide races. So it was a big relief this group was defeated here.
