The Republican Civil War - it will be because we destroyed ourselves

The post from @Francisco 2.0 shows why America may be too far gone. If Trump dies tomorrow the anti-govt campaigns will not stop with the conspiracy nuts. They have sunk too much of their life into the deep state paranoia. No matter how much evidence they are shown, there is always some other way that the deep state/Soros/_____ is secretly manipulating the vote.

A politician (GOP) isn't blind to seeing that a decent percent of motivated voters are in this state of mind. Throw them just enough so that they believe that you're behind them, and appeal to enough reasonable voters, and you can get elected. Of course, you can't just switch to being a reasonable govt official at that time. The nuts won't let you.

I fully expect that we will see fraud or vote integrity issues in 2024 and it will be 100% in favor of Trump.

That is a rock-solid guarantee, from the book of "Every Accusation is a Confession."  These fucking insane psychopaths have convinced themselves that 10-15% of the votes are "stolen," or "fake," so when those are FACTS, they MUST steal those votes back, fight fire with fire!  They cheat!  So we'll cheat back!

The problem being, of course, that there is no material cheating in the first place.

TL;DR   A republican 20 year county election clerk, who flies a Trump 2024 flag at her home, in a county of 620 voters, who all know each other, now believe the clerk is part of the deep-state.

That was a real concerning article to me.  How many counties is this bullshit happening in.  And the efforts are to put in the kookiest Q Anons.  Some places it'll be successful.  They're not going to be content with their mere R+84 anymore.

Case in point from 2020. Man double voted with his deceased mom's name for Trump because he was trying to make up for all of the Dem "fake" votes.

Yeah, if your dream is to return the country to reagan era policies, I'm probably gonna tell you that you're a fucking idiot and end the conversation right there. Its also humorous  to me that they think their fellow idiots that subscribe to that school of thought wont line up to lick Trumps asshole in november.

For 150+ years, there have been people of color who've related to conservative principles whether it was social, economic, or foreign relations.  Totally understandable.  No one color fits into any one box.  But voting for Confederate Statues?  WTF?  Is this just a pissing match to impress MAGA and debase yourself?  I mean talk about lowering taxes, revamping criminal justice, removing red tape to help people of color start businesses with annoying government officials.  But fucking Civil War monuments?  What?

I'll berate the point again.  When we dissolve governments, we don't immediately turn around and go after the 'foreigners'  First we come for the people inside our borders we find of lower worth.  The differently colored, women, religious minorities, disabled, LGBTQ, et. al.  Even if you've been a loyalist, you'll be given up by somebody else seen as "cleaner."  It works almost every time we try it.  When I get people in one country to turn one another in for the sake of making our nation great, I can get them to do almost anything else.  When the Female, Black, Gay, and Elderly MAGA loyalists lose their freedoms and rights and checks.  We've always done it this way.  They have no idea what they're doing and how much danger they are in.  Purification starts with the ones who think it's a test of honor.  When in fact, it's a test of evacuation.

I've seen a lot of clips of Proud Bois marches.  And while the Corps of Cadets have decent uniforms, And say what you want about the Proud Bois silly chinos and masked disguises...the Proud Bois actually do play their instruments as they march.  So that's something...

It’s like watching the the testimony of the Sonderkommand survivors.  Almost all Of them sold their souls to curry favor and aplomb from the SS.  And after all they did to keep the machines of evil up and running, 95% of them met the same fate.

You don’t send in an SS officer into the camp barracks to direct the concentration prisoners.  With their numbers, they may rise up and kill the SS officer.  You send in somebody who looks and speaks and prays like them.  That helps keep them complacent.

You don’t  send the Proud Boys or Mike Johnson out into black communities to preach the gospel of Trump.  You send Tim Scott and Byron Donalds.  Anybody can walk in with bigoted language or a weapon.  And they will just anger you and lose.  The way to win is to have the same disposition but walk in with a smile and a promise of hope

“Nobody has done more To lift up the black community than Donald Trump!  Now if you’ll please follow me over here, we have one more detail to cover.”

This is actually a really really good message that should be seen by a lot more "moderates" and "independents".  I 100% agree with him, even though I would say I have very few TRADITIONAL "conservative" values.  I would love to get back to a point where the GOP (or whatever it becomes) would actually come to the table with legitimate policy ideas and be willing to work with Democrats to govern instead of being completely worthless obstructionists, psychotic extremists, and straight up grifters.

He, and Raffensperger and Kemp, whether they wanted to or not, could wind up being the "moderate" (sane) part of the GOP that salvages whatever is left of the RNC after Trump destroys it in November.

All three of them get to play the "Hey, Trump attacked us, so we weren't a part of that clusterfuck!" card.

He might very well be, but right now those three (and maybe a few of the Republicans who were in the House) stand to gain when Donnie loses and the RNC flounders around.

The thing is, what happens when Donnie loses, but Lara still runs the RNC, and MAGA still has millions of people? Trump won't go easy in the night - the RNC is a money making machine for HIM and HIM only as far as he's concerned.

I have a feeling a lot of us are going to be reading up on the downfall of the Whig party.

Just as the rise of Reagan saw many Democrats (esp Southern) quickly flip over to being Republicans, Trump could end up creating the opposite effect in pushing some back to the Dems.

Take someone like Duncan. If he sees GA start to go blue, he or some other GOPer will see an opportunity to run as a moderate or conservative Dem.  You take 80% of the Dem vote, many independents and 10% of the GOP vote, and you’re the next GA governor.

Liz Cheney Suggests a New Political Party May Be Needed
Ms. Cheney, a longtime Republican, said that the G.O.P. “has rejected the Constitution in the name of supporting Trump” and that Mike Johnson should not be speaker.

Former Representative Liz Cheney, who has emerged as perhaps the most vocal and visible conservative critic of former President Donald J. Trump, suggested on Friday night that a new political party might need to be created to replace the Republican Party if he is defeated.

Ms. Cheney, who represented Wyoming in Congress and served in the House Republican leadership but recently crossed party lines to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris for president, said that the party she has devoted her life to may not be able to survive as a viable institution after being effectively hijacked by Mr. Trump.

“Whether it’s organizing a new party — look, it’s hard for me to see how the Republican Party, given what it has done, can make the argument convincingly or credibly that people ought to vote for Republican candidates until it really recognizes what it’s done,” Ms. Cheney said at the Cap Times Idea Fest in Madison, Wis.

“There is certainly going to be a big shift, I think, in how our politics work,” she continued. “I don’t know exactly what that will look like. I don’t think it will just simply be, well, the Republican Party is going to put up a new slate of candidates and off to the races. I think far too much has happened that’s too damaging.

Ms. Cheney has been at the forefront of the opposition to Mr. Trump since he tried to overturn the 2020 election and riled up a mob of supporters that then attacked the Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021. She served as vice chair of the bipartisan House select committee that investigated the events of Jan. 6 and paid the price by being expelled from the party leadership and then defeated in a Republican primary by a candidate endorsed by Mr. Trump.

The daughter of former Vice President Dick Cheney, who also recently said he would vote for Ms. Harris, Ms. Cheney has supported only Republican presidential candidates since casting her first ballot for Ronald Reagan in 1984. But her estrangement from her party was evident when she was asked if she still called herself a Republican and she said, “I’m a conservative.”

By chance, Ms. Cheney was speaking at the same time that Ms. Harris was also in Madison, holding a rally across town. Ms. Cheney said she had spoken with the vice president since announcing her support and hinted that she might participate in the campaign in some way.

“I have spoken to Vice President Harris,” she said, but would not reveal details. Asked if she would appear with Ms. Harris, she said, “Look, I’m going to do everything that I can because I think it’s so important, so stay tuned.”

She added: “We had a very good discussion, and I believe that she knows this coalition that’s coming together to support her is such a broad one and such an unusual one.” She noted that she had taken a picture of a news caption she saw on MSNBC that said “Dick Cheney and Taylor Swift Support Harris.”

Ms. Cheney said she would not vote for Wisconsin Republicans like Representative Derrick Van Orden, who was at the Capitol on Jan. 6 though he said he did not go in the building, or Eric Hovde, a Trump-endorsed businessman who is challenging Senator Tammy Baldwin, a Democrat. She suggested Democrats should win the House to prevent Speaker Mike Johnson and Republican representatives from trying to reverse another Trump defeat.

“Makes me very sad that this is the case, but the Republicans have shown that they will not certify the results if Donald Trump is not the victor,” she said, “so I think it’s really important that Mike Johnson not be the speaker of the House on Jan. 6, 2025.”

The notion of forming a new party has precedent in American history, although it has been a while since one memorably challenged the existing order. The Republican Party itself was founded in the 1850s out of the wreckage of failed political parties. But the structural and political obstacles to forming a new party in the modern era are daunting. No effort to create a new party strong enough to seriously take on the existing Democratic and Republican parties has succeeded so far.

Ms. Cheney was not announcing the beginning of such an effort but instead ruminating on the implications of a Trump defeat. “The party itself really has rejected the Constitution in the name of supporting Trump,” she said.

That “may well” necessitate a new party, she added, “because, again, so much of the Republican Party today has allowed itself to become a tool for this really unstable man. It certainly has moved away from standing for anything of substance, anything of policy. We’re going to have to have some entity that actually can be making the case for the kind of conservative causes that I believe in.”
