First, that would not make any sense to the reader.

Second, black face and eating water melon would be a racial stereotype.

Third, NAs did, at some point, most likely wear buckskins and a form of feathered head dress.  EW has made claims to be NA this she is being lampooned for it.  That in and of itself is not racist.

If I claimed to be an Eskimo and I was found to be otherwise, I’d expect to be caricaturized in a big musk ox parka with an ulu in one hand and a piece of whale blubber in the other.   And deservedly so.

You’re just ate up with the racist thing.  Look into your refrigerator.   The inside walls are white because GE is racist.  Tell me I’m wrong.

Seriously, take a break from Surly and enjoy life a little.

Put on a  head dress and buckskin and go strolling through a reservation and see what kind of reaction you get. Throw in a war chant and a rain dance while you're at it.

You leave a room for a few weeks and you come back to find a circle jerk has broken out.

The "sometimes you're wrong when you call me a racist" argument isn't really particularly strong. If you or a group you're associated with is repeatedly called racist, maybe you ought to try a little introspection instead of reflexively assuming every accuser is a political hack.

Oh, look everyone! Another race-baiter poking the fire. So original....

In this case, they're right though. The accuser is a political hack. And the Fox Newsesque, "some people say" argument doesn't really hold weight. The existence of racism accusations against Garrison isn't meaningful in determining he's racist. The current strategy of saying something to the effect of "if you don't like being called racist, don't be racist" is something like question begging just meant to score internet points.  It's hackish as well.

I'm not really qualified to speak on the alleged racism in Garrison's cartoons since I'm not interested in his terrible cartoons, but calling the Warren shot racist is a huge stretch that requires ignoring all context and the artistic and political message. It's vaguely like calling Huck Finn racist if Huck Finn sucked and was written by Ayn Rand.

That cartoon posits a stupid analogy.  We choose the rules we live by.  We don't choose the universe we live in.

What some would consider hate speech others would not.  just look at the comments from the Muslim congressman regarding Israel.

Hate speech/anti semitic or just criticism ?

Directed at Israel, most likely criticism.

Directed at Jews, most likely anti-Semitism.

Because Israel is officially a Jewish state, things get tricky when one criticizes Israeli policy. The state uses that to its political advantage.

I don't at all dismiss that thereis  useful discussion to be had around what is or isn't hate speech.  And that was my point about the poor analogy.  There are no useful discussions to be had about the persistence of gravitational effects.

I think the point was you can't pick and choose the things you want to allow or believe in. I don't like actual hate speech, but like pornography, who am I to say it's porn or art. The right answer is why not both, of course.

And some would disagree with that premise.  So in a free speech society you have to take the good with the bad, until one incites violence, I try to ignore it

Once you allow the concept of hate speech  you also allow the concept of speech being labeled hate speech simply because the state/government hates it.

How would you classify "Jews will not replace us"?

I have no problem with speech like that remaining protected. What's funny about the whole thing though, is that conservatives will say things like "let the market decide how to handle bigots," and "people who espouse hate speech will not be taken seriously anyway so its not really harming anyone."
