Sounds like we need a new WR coach…

As long as it doesn't disrupt our Portal hunting, that's fine. Hey, maybe we get a guy who brings someone with him.

Well. Shit. Aggy just fucked us with their laughable OC hire.

Good for Marion - and it certainly looks good for Texas when an assistant gets a promotion elsewhere.

Modden is obviously now at risk, but otherwise the timing is pretty decent for us honestly. aggy dragging the hire out past NSD1 helped us out.

If Coach Marion is gone, it shouldn't be a big surprise.  His tenure has been short at most of his coaching jobs.

Marion is a gimmicky self promoter that didn’t add a ton. There’s a reason why you’ve heard the “gogo” offense so much and it certainly isn’t because we actually utilized any of it. Maybe he can lose the cowboy hat now. Also wouldn’t shock me if we hired Marcus Arroyo in a basic “swap”

That would actually be a pretty good hire imo

Samples has the same title at ASU. We know what he brings to the table on the recruiting front. Hell, bring him to replace Marion and his dad to replace Gilbert.

Yeah, the Texas WRs in 2022 was the worst performing group -- if Marion is gone it's an opportunity to upgrade our WR coaching.

The funny part of this is how Odom at UNLV doesn’t seem to care what offensive scheme they run. Going from Petrino to Marion as OC is quite an interesting strategy.

He has the same title but he’s still never coached WR’s at any level outside of his analyst stop here.

He would be great recruiting but would contribute little else. Maybe he knows everything he needs to know and we just haven’t seen it, but if you are Xavier Worthy or Jordan Whittington or a portal WR in a contract year I wouldn’t be thrilled hitching my wagon to a dude who’s never coached the position I play.

Did it though? Marion seems a lot more hype than results. He’s pretty replaceable and there’s a decent chance we end up with a better WR coach. Plus, if he didn’t leave this year, it would’ve been next year. If we can hold on to the guys we have, this will be better timing than him leaving before NSD1 next year.

My concern is portal recruiting given how big a need WR is and how little time is left in the first window.

Has anyone said Tee Martins name yet?

Position coach likely doesn’t crack the top 5 areas of concern for your average portal recruit.

Quick research suggest Arroyo.

The Scotts look like the output of feeding a picture of every Clemson Greek couple into an AI. Just a perfect match with the school.

Would think we have inside lane with Scott's wife due to our proximity to all the shitty Kendra Scott jewelry.

Wonder if Whittington knew this before he announced his return.

Let the speculation on a replacement begin.

Whittington has had like 3 WR (meh, Coleman,  Marion)coaches? I don't think this moves the needle for him.
