The Ferrari Challenge has been around since the 90s.

All Ferrari race, not the prototypes or anything, just actual Ferraris. Lots of owner-drivers, etc. was originally created to give Ferrari owners a chance to race their cars.

Lamborghini and Porsche have their own similar series. They all fall under the IMSA banner.

Yeah, you wanna see a whole bunch of torn up Ferraris - go to a Ferrari Challenge weekend. Pure carnage.

Every time they smash into one another, I just can't help but think of the hundreds of thousands of dollars coming out of private pockets.  They can afford it, I guess, but nevertheless it causes me great pain and consternation on their behalf.

Yeah the guys out at Cotton Bowl and Heart of Texas care more about their cars than those dudes do. It's crazy.

imsa at detroit with indycar this weekend, GTP and GTD Pro cars only on the tight streets of downtown detroit.  first time out for these cars at this track.  qualifying is at 3:40 pm today and the race goes green at 3:10 pm tomorrow.

The idea of a new racetrack is both exciting and daunting. Especially when the schedule is tight — three-and-a-half hours of testing before qualifying in the case of the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship’s first visit to the 1.654-mile, nine-turn downtown street circuit — there’s not a lot of time to get acclimated, to set up the car, and find the right references for a consistent, fast lap.

When the French lady pit lane reporter interviews Koboyashi I have to feel for whoever is doing the English live closed captioning.

Between the two of them I think I caught about 10% of that.
