Or at least knock the bitch out and tie her up so she can't call the cops until she's sober and doesn't want to anymore. /sarcasm

Goddamnit.  The University President woke up to a mugshot of his head basketball coach on the front page of ESPN.

Doesn't matter after that.  He said, she said, who gives a shit?  That won't fly at the University of Texas, period.

The individual circumstances of that individual night are immaterial.  It would have happened eventually anyway given their temperaments.

Beard should have dumped her when he had the chance.  He didn't, so here we are.

Yep. Can't trust the decision making of anyone that lets that situation happen.

I heard so much Chris Beard hate at the NCAAs in Milwaukee from everyone other than Ole Miss fans. If you've ever been to the games, you know there's tons of knowledgable college bball fans all around. The banter going around in the arena is half of the fun.

I heard a variation of "Chris Beard is a great coach but a total piece of shit" so many times over the course of the weekend.

The Beard apologists would have been begging for Charlie Strong or Tom Herman to be fired if they'd been accused of what Beard was accused of. Tells you all you need to know about those folks.

The petty sports fan in me hopes that's the case. My worst case scenario - and I think it's an entirely possible one - is that he overachieves at Ole Miss, gets a job at a blueblood school like Kentucky, goes on to win multiple national championships, and what happened at Texas ends up being part of a redemptive story, much like being fired for being drunk at football practice as the head coach, caused Sarkisian to get fired from his dream job.

The best side of me hopes for redemptive arcs for all of us. But the redemptive side of me is not posting on the Texas basketball message boards.

I think it's easy to back seat drive. I'm quite adept at it. A big part of the issue is that she acted ridiculous on the trip to Madison Square Garden to the point plenty of people took Beard aside to tell him her behavior was unacceptable and he'd have to do something about it. That's why he was living/sleeping in the guest bedroom. She knew how to press his buttons. She got him worked up. He knew what she was doing so he recorded the conversation. She escalated and called the police. He had no concerns about it and felt like he'd be able to talk to them about the situation to deescalate. She told the police he grabbed her around the throat which was an immediate trip to the local jail. Whether that actually occurred or whether that was partially engineered by the police I don't think it's clear, but when someone in an organization has a tool that they think can help solve situations they're going to use it, even if at times it ends up being an abuse of it. That's not unique to law enforcement.

Once he was arrested the priority became not having it go to trial, NOT appeasing UT about keeping his job. He probably thought he could do both. But wherever there was a conflict between the two he chose the advice of his lawyer over requests from Texas.

In the end, it doesn't matter. He was arrested for choking his girlfriend, whether it happened or not. How many other head basketball coaches are getting arrested for choking their girlfriends every year? You simply can't have that happen to you at UT. You just can't. You can be an assistant. You can be a player. But you can't be the head coach of one of the major revenue sports and expect to keep your job in that situation. The optics aren't going to allow for it. There were a million and one decisions that led to the police appearing at his door to follow up on his girlfriend's phone call. A different decision anywhere along the line that didn't create the situation where he was answering the door trying to explain the circumstances that led to the phone call would have kept him in his job. But that's not where we are and that's just how it is.

I hope he ends up drunk in a ditch somewhere

To be fair, it entitles one to a very favorable exchange rate on most Trump-endorsed currencies.

The biggest tell about who Chris Beard is was when he let Arterio Morris stay on the team after he got arrested for beating his girlfriend

Pure trash all around

At least he got those rape charges dropped after he transferred to Kansas. Who doesnt get arrested for rape a day after they plea no-contest for assault on a woman? As long as he wasnt convicted. Police, crime labs, and prosecutors work around the clock to investigate, clear rape kits, and successfully convict rapists.

It’s all he say she say. But I could see Buzz leaving and A&M in desperate mode to be successful at something

chris beard is the most famous woman beater alive who’s never actually hit a woman.

i’m at the point where im so tired of the incessant circle jerk of fake virtue on these boards where 20 of y’all pile into a thread to call him a wife beater and a domestic abuser all so you guys can celebrate and show off how virtuous you are, that im hoping that chris beard eventually does beat a woman so that it will bother me less when y’all do that.

it’s truly not. she attacked him. he never hit her. she did hit him. these people who claim to be virtuous are doing the exact opposite of that with these faux virtuous takes on beard. switch their genders and he’s a domestic abuse survivor and she’s in prison. period. end of story.

if any of you really cared about domestic abuse you’d stop calling the abuser the victim, over and over and over and over and over again, just to make yourself look and feel good. it’s fuax virtue, and it’s gross.

If the police are called to break up a domestic disturbance when you're in your fucking 50's, people get to insinuate how big a piece a shit you are for the rest of eternity.

Them's the breaks.

don’t move the goal posts. nobody here is insinuating anything. they are explicitly and repeatedly calling him a wife beater and a domestic abuser, when in fact randi trew was the drunken, berating, physical abuser on the night in question, who also has a long history of abuse, drunken or otherwise. reminder that she got fired from Frenship high school despite winning a ton of games because her players all reported her for abuse.

answer this directly, no moving the goalposts:

if a man with a widely known history of alcohol problems and verbal/physical abuse  spent an evening chasing his sober wife around the house berating her, agitating her, and eventually smacking her in the fact, *after which* she responded physically, is there any world in which you and the denizens of this forum would repeatedly gloat about what a piece of shit domestic abuser the woman is?

you know the answer, i know the answer, and everyone here knows the answer. you say it’s a crazy hill for me to die on? i say you’re crazy for saying that. these repeated circle jerks are 0% about right and wrong, and 100% about self serving virtue signaling, which as i said, is gross. you can’t claim the moral high ground when the gender of who smacked whom is the deciding factor as tho who is the abuser and who is the victim.

i’ve said everything i need to say in this subject for a while, so i’ll leave you with this:

@aggie08 let’s say that you’ve never raped anyone, but dozens and dozens of people online repeatedly called you a rapist. a)would that be ok? b)would you tell anyone who stood up for you that they were choosing a weird hill to die on?

C'mon, man. Whatever you think happened that night, can we at least agree that Chris Beard probably wasn't just watching game film, responding to every annoyance with calm, cool logic and reason? You get upset when women get a "free pass" to be violent to men; well, I get upset when it's assumed that the woman must be the only crazy one in a relationship with a successful man. Dysfunctional relationships are a two way street. He's still with Randi Trew because he's every bit the crazy, basic bitch, drama queen that she is. They've likely had many such nights poking and prodding each other.

If my wife called the police and accused me of rape, she'd be signing divorce papers the next morning, and I'd do everything in my power to make it known that she's a batshit crazy liar.

I wouldn't stay in a relationship with her because I love the drama.

Still waiting for the video evidence Beard claimed he had the night of the incident that would prove his innocence. He wouldn't hand it over to police when they asked for it and his lawyer wouldn't release it later on.

I wonder why that is.

Let us not forget that the arrest affadavit was very specific and damning.  Yes, stories can get muted over time, statements can be withdrawn, but in no way does that mean the original statement was false or even an exaggeration.  Such is the way of family violence.

When do we get reimbursed for all this “self serving virtue signaling”? Is it a points system?

Still don’t know why derka thinks he knows for sure what happened. He was not present, so the best info he has is either what beard told him directly or what beard told someone who told him. Neither is remotely definitive.

unless he has someone at APD sharing evidence I guess.
