This is my only gripe with Coach Elliott. He has been to the final 4 way too many times to not win more titles. Many of those times they had early exits, his teams were favored. They just play tighter when the pressure is on. They didn't have a great game yesterday, but thankfully still managed to win. Let's see if they can take home the trophy this time.

Really, the bigger knock on Elliott is failure/refusal to recruit the same caliber defensive specialist as hitters and develop them similarly. Historically, when we get to the Sweet Sixteen/Elite Eight level, our offensive advantage is less advantageous, and our defensive, passing, and serve-receive issues kill us.

Transfers/the portal has fixed that this year, and to an extent two years ago.   And, I think he has come to the realization what he has missed out on and won't let it continue.  And, to his credit, he decided we needed to serve tougher a couple of years back and it was painful, but now we're the top serving team in the tournament.

If you look at the offensive stats of past champions and compare them to ours, it's pretty clear imo what it takes to win the finals. We don't attack enough. Madi, who played for UK's championship team, led in that category vs UCSD. We need at least couple others to play aggressive like her.

Well attacks tend to fall off when you are out of system because of poor passing.

Also unclear what your reference to Skinner means.  We finished 17, 16, 15 kills to Skinner, Eggleston, and Phillips, respectively, with Logan having had a very uncharacteristic 5 errors in the first set.  Madisen Skinner is a fine player, but in the context of Texas OH and RS, she's just par for the course.  Kentucky beat us because they had better defense and setter.

I would like less finnesse and more spikes, which would result in higher kill efficiency and give the opponent fewer chances to set up good offense imo.

Bit talk not going away.

So, if there are indications of "tearing" at the site of bite mark then it was more likely to be an "offensive" bite.
If no tearing then it is may be a "defensive" bite.

The direction of the bite matters too.  Such as if her arm was wrapped around his face, then the bite faces that direction and it's probably a defensive bite.
If the bite mark faces the other direction then he was facing her and it's offensive..

https://forensicreader.com/offensive-vs-defensive-wounds/

https://forensicyard.com/bite-mark-analysis-during-investigation/

Biting someone is the absolute last thing on my mind if I'm being an aggressor.

It ranks right above humping their leg.

Potential 2023 commit Akana's sister is getting big minutes in the championship volleyball game on right now.

Sir, I’ve seen enough Law & Order SVU to know that semen samples are being taken from at least 40 different objects at that crime scene.  And, while Beard may ironically be innocent in this particular incident, it’s inevitable that one of those samples will reveal he’s been trafficking women for the past 20 years right under all our noses!

Seriously.  People are losing their minds.  This guy is Georgetown Law though.  Tread lightly.

Yeah fucking cactus Twitter shitting up the replies, predictable. Despite what they say, they don’t care about women, they just want Beard and Texas to fail.

A Closer Look at Strangulation Cases (written by a former Travis County prosecutor)

Link above is a super long read about how strangulation in DV cases are prosecuted.

Here’s a paragraph about bite marks that stood out to me. It assumes the man is the attacker/defendant and a woman is a victim.

“Likewise, I often notice bite marks to the defendant. The victim may not even remember doing so, but victims often bite their assailants in an attempt to get them to release their grip. I find that if I have a good account of how he strangled her and I understand the positions of the defendant and the victim, the bite mark is usually consistent with how her head would contact his body. A bite mark can be on a defendant’s forearm or bicep, usually when the strangulation is committed with an arm or his hands, and I’ve seen bites to the defendant’s upper chest and shoulder, most often when the defendant is strangling her from behind with his arm. It is important to have a good description of how the strangulation played out so that the jury can see and understand why that bite mark is consistent with the victim’s account. Rather than considering these injuries on the defendant as a weakness to the State’s case, consider arguing to the jury the fear and panic the victim felt during the assault that made her react in such a primal way.”

Why is Randi Trew the one with a bite mark on her forearm when this prosecutor says that bite marks are often seen on a defendant?

The program is fully bought in to Beard as its identity is what he means. He was instrumental in revamping student section, rebuilding the roster, changing the play style and having his little fireside chat things. They brought in a Texas Ex who was a former player to lead that too.

There's a lot more than money at stake here.

So, reading between the lines....you're telling me there's a scenario?!

Why has the tone in this thread seemingly shifted in Beard’s favor? It appears many of you are running with the idea that she is crazy, therefore, whatever Beard did was justified or necessary.

Has new info been released that I missed, or is everyone passing their time by creating hypothetical scenarios that have a basketball happy ending?

Some of you guys are speaking about it as if you believe it to be true, which based on the facts we currently have, comes across a little bit like Baylor fans defending Briles. Maybe this does eventually turn out some way in which Beard looks less guilty than he did in the beginning, but we have a long way to go and and it’s a bit unsettling to see people making excuses for him at this stage.

I don't think this is happening. I think since he hasn't been terminated people are trying to figure out what the fuck the hold up is because it seems like a no brainer at this point unless there is something keeping the AD from pulling the ripchord. There is a very vocal majority that want him gone now.

I’m definitely on the side that thinks he should and will be fired, unless by some small chance there is video or audio that completely exonerates him. I personally doubt that will be the case, but time will tell.

I think if that level of evidence existed in his favor, there would be some mention of that from his attorney by now, just to try to sway public opinion towards giving him the benefit of a doubt. My memory is a little fuzzy on the early days of the Trevor Bauer fiasco, but I thought there was some of that talk pretty early on.

Despite all of that, I don’t think The University has to be in a rush to fire him. They quickly placed him on administrative leave without pay, which seems like an acceptable response even for people who don’t like UT. No one in the media is criticizing Texas as far as I’ve seen. If anything, it’s more sympathy towards Texas and criticism of Beard, so the two parties have been adequately separated.

We aren’t hiring a new coach right now, so we have time. I don’t think the silence from The University is an indication of anything at this point.

To the mob, silence means complicity.  We’re supporting spousal abuse by not firing him now.  Me personally, if he laid hands on Randi, unless it’s to save his or someone else’s life, it’s over.

Saving a life seems like a bit of a high standard in the grand scheme of things. Force necessary to extricate and defend seems much more logical and reasonable. I’m not going to fault a guy who shoves someone away from him that’s hitting, biting, gouging and scratching at him and that’s more or less now the law works- reasonable person force necessary for the situation.
mid she has no/slight injuries maybe he complied with such a standard, maybe not.
he’s got an ex, right?  Probably ought to interview her as if he’s an actual bad guy these things typically have a pattern and she’s probably not incentivized to cover for him or anything like that.
My instinct is it’s probably 90/95% likely he gets canned but there’s no harm in going through a process since he’s not with the team, not getting paid and we aren’t hiring a new coach before March/April.

The silence on both sides to me means they are trying to work something out quietly.  What exactly that is, who knows.  If things were contentious, Beard's lawyer would say something in the media, or Bellmont would leak something.  Bellmont is famous for leaks both intentional and unintentional.

I don’t know if you know, but vampires are some cool people, are they not?

But let me tell you something that I found out: a werewolf can kill a vampire. Did you know that? I never knew that.

So, I don’t want to be a vampire any more. I want to be a werewolf!

The "finesse," especially as regards tips and roll shots, usually results from a poor set or pass out of system.  It is, again, the passing on defense and serve receive that leads to our offensive ineffectiveness, historically.

Thanks to Fleck, Halter, and SKT, that was not an issue last night.  Hopefully, Elliott continues the high standard of defensive player and play that this season and Morgan O'Brien provided.

Has it been discussed that they’re going to pay the woman off, she recants her story, the charges get dropped, he claims pure innocence and they reinstate him? If so, has that premise been dismissed out of hand because of facts? Not keeping up but heard this as an angle and thought I’d at least ask.
