I will say, despite my obvious frustration with the overboard challenges for Spencer to deal with (ha! overboard!) I still think this show is very good, and definitely superior to Yellowstone and 1883.

Agreed.

They got married in international waters by a British naval captain to avoid immigration issues. A little bit later the validity of their marriage is questioned and Spencer replies with "I don't have any documentation just a ring and love." How was that going to help with immigration?

In previous episodes a point was made that all of these British ships could communicate with each other and when pushed for proof of a marriage Spencer replies with "Some British dude married us on a ship."

Your killing me Smalls.

Also, did he really need to fling that dude out to sea? I mean it was funny but he could have just flung him into the railing. It was also bad form to just keep smacking down that dude only for him to keep escalating the situation. It would have been better to knock his ass out instead of just humiliating him. The entire scene felt forced.

But also this.  It’s not Breaking Bad or The Wire, 1a and 1b on greatest shows. But it’s damned good despite its periodic implausibility.

I watched the first two episodes and it’s not grabbing me. I don’t really care about the school girl or cowboys vs shepherds, but a show focused on the Africa hunter would be cool.

I quit then but read some of this thread and picked it back up. It gets better. Always some suspended reality though with these shows

Like a society girl fleeing her wedding to run off to a dangerous African village with a great white hunter who she has known for five minutes? And him being cool with it?

They wanted to hook up that badly! What is so hard to believe about that?

Seriously, the ghost ship swinging back around on them and moving to get them was massively over the top and also, the ship credit deal. Who did she say she was related to and in the party of to get the credit for their clothes?
This is a good show though and I want to watch the second season but i guess the strike is going to move it back from being shown anytime this year or next even.

They're filming at least part of S2 in Austin.

Production company has racked up $30 grand with us (paint/stain/coatings) in 3 weeks.

Haven't watched any of the show but guess I'll have to tune in now.

I liked it MUCH better than 1883, but it does kind of go downhill from Ep 1, IMO.  The stuff with the Native Americans is like an 8-episode snuff film.  I realize it's part of history, but it's hard to watch.

Anybody know of any of the details on S2 filming?  Apparently began filming last week.  Mostly closed-set at ATX studios.  But they've to go outside sometime.  Would love to take the girls out to the Hill Country go catch a glimpse.  Obviously, they're keeping it tight-lipped.  I don't want to bother anybody at AFC, but I know some of us some of those folks, was hoping one of you could get drunk and ask.

Yellowstone sucked shit since like episode 3.

Goddamn Sheridan will always get a pass from me for his modern western trilogy of Sicario, Hell or High Water, and Wind River. But 1923 and Yellowstone were pretty shitty. 1883 and Bass Reeves were meh. Lioness was good.

Those who wish me dead was below average and  without remorse was crap. His script for Sicario 2 was re-written so much I dont even consider it his work

at least Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King are good.

Getting this much Harrison Ford in 2025 (along with shrinking) make this a less sucky time line.

Did they completely swap out the younger couple? They don't look familiar although it has been a long time. Interested to see how they get out of that jam on the boat.

Spencer and his peach of a wife? Look the same.

Is Aynsley still hanging around being a vapid skank in 1923?

The Africa episodes were pretty great, but they taking way too long to get Spencer back to Montana. As others have pointed out, Season 2 should open with Spencer getting off the train in Bozeman with his long gun.

I’m trying to stay positive because I need something to watch on Sunday nights, but it looks like the plot of Season 2 will be an unapologetic ripoff of the Johnson County War Mini Series.

Spoiler

So, back in November I stopped in Butte for the night.  I always stay at the Hotel Finlen and on my way in a bunch of street corners had snow on them. It hadn't really snowed yet and I was like WTF?

Anyway, hotel bar is dark Mondays so I just started walking down the street and saw an Irish pub and walked in. Sat down at the bar next to this old guy and as I'm looking at the menu he says try the shepherds pie... It's good.

I don't really look up at him and say thanks and end up ordering it. He is sitting next to another dude and they are getting all the details from a couple locals about where to eat and breakfast and blah blah blah.  So he's kind of turned away from me.

So I'm finishing up eating and just nursing a beer and the dude next to me is finally facing more forward and I get a look at his face and I was thinking no way.

Couple minutes later he gets up to take a leak and I call the bartender over and I ask him if I'm sitting  next to who I think I'm sitting next to. He asks me if i think I'm sitting next to Indiana Jones.

So, Harrison Ford comes back from the restroom and sits back down next to me.  I tell him thanks for the recommendation and can I buy him a beer to say thank you. He looks at me, gets av little half grin and says sure, so, I buy him a guinness, and I go back to drinking my beer because I panicked and had nothing else to say.

He finishes, he stops for a couple selfies with the bartenders and the guy he was with pulls up in a black escalade and he's gone.

So, the next morning I get up to leave and see more shit going on in Butte than I've ever seen. 3 square blocks were completely shut down and surrounded by all kinds of stuff that I guess goes into shooting a show.

They had the streets in those blocks all covered in snow and one street was the old cars in front of the courthouse (pic attached), next block down was like a livery and stables and stuff and the last street was covered in dirt and looked like it was set up to be some kind of corrall or something.

Anyway, kind of fucking cool.

there ain't gonna be a season 3, so they're gonna wrap everything up in this season.  8 episodes to do it.  Spencer better be in Montana no later than episode 2. hope they don't keep dragging that out.

I keep waiting for Young Mr. Katanga to show up.  I could deal with a two or three episode sidetrack if he's involved.

Very cool story.

If I ran into Harrison Ford I would probably freak out and just mutter something about how I love Indiana Jones but really like Han Solo too and thought Force 10 from Navarone was awesome. Then ask him if he could be my dad.

I would ask him if he would sign my Frisco Kid movie poster.

I'd ask him if he had the recipe for that Viet-Na-Mese shrimp because I want to have some and never have to prove my manhood ever again.
