Cool.  And my point is Dykes didn't need a 5-star roster to handle us--regardless of our chuckles handicap.

The guy can coach.

Expand

He went 7-5 that year. That's some real "coaching".  We had two 5* players on that roster in a frosh Malik Jefferson, and an injured senior Jonathan Gray with Tyrone Swoopes as our starting qb. Real hard to beat that team that went 5-7.

Is this true or he just trying to be an asshole? As much as this forum hates Ketch & Chip Brown, I don't really hate those 2 guys at all and Bohls is who I've always hated.

Expand

According to CTJ it is true and he got laughed out of the room. If I remember correctly CTJ posted it prior to the Sark hire. The media is a year late.

Dude, you cant seriously tell me that you would rather be in Scenario B then Scenario A. Look, Scenario B can obviously end with the best result because you can end with an extra timeout, but that isnt what is being argued here. Percentage wise, Scenario A is infinitely better for any defense to be in to stop the other team on 3rd down. Dont be stupid.

Expand

I'm telling you that it doesn't matter. I wouldn't rather either scenario. You can run or pass on any down at any time.

I contend that you would see a difference in the offensive playcalling between the two scenarios. Im sure the data is out there somehwere. We will agree to disagree until then.

TCU got some big calls in their favor, but Michigan played like shit and get no sympathy from me. Two pick-sixes, fumbling at the goal line, that stupid ass trick play on 4th down. They deserved to lose.

Expand

Michigan committed ridiculously obvious pass interference that led to the INT the play before the Michigan bomb that was ruled down at the 4 inch line before the fumble.

Michigan never should have even had the ball.

Sark got Arch Manning. That gives him a stay of execution.

But his seat is hot because he went fucking 5-7 and 8-5 not because TCU did something.

Expand

Arch Manning will win here. I don't know about a NC, but he'll win and then we'll get to see the real Sark again when he's gone

Lol.  Very very aggy.  But you’re OSU…I’ll allow it.  And good for TCU.  Anyone who thinks this is sustainable by them is hilarious.

Expand

Mocking a rival is exclusive to aggy? Lol, no. There's a whole thread about them and what makes them, let's say, "different." Two years of being told the "nobodies"  being left behind are nobodies, and one just eclipsed the furthest ou has gone. It's definitely relevant. And I have no love for TCU, hoped they'd lose and hope they lose on Monday. I wanted us to be the first to break through but blew our shot last year, it is what it is. Venebles in the sec would be fun to watch but y'all will shitcan him by then, if not by next week.

I thought they had already started the last ditch lateral everywhere play. And then it went forward.

Expand

Had to leave for a bit so this may have been answered but that doesn't matter. You can throw a million backward passes behind the line of scrimmage and if the ball hasn't crossed the LOS yet, you can still throw your one forward pass.

I'll be shocked if BV makes it to the SEC, too. OU fans don't want to admit it, but they fucked up that hire.

Lots of words to explain what we already know.  Our cycle of football suck extends back to Dykes' days at Cal.  And Dykes wasn't a big hire back then.

But what about now?

Let's make this simple.

What is Sark doing on the afternoon of Jan 9th, 2023?

What will Dykes be focused on that same day?

Pretty much all that needs to be said.

Sark is starting a RS-FR, and Dykes has an entire roster that he didn't recruit.

Yes, Dykes made the NC game, and that's great, but if you think this is going to continue with him making the CFP, I don't know what to tell you.

No, OU has treated you like a stepchild for years and the minute someone else does something - hint for aggy brained moron, someone is not you - you get all wet with pleasure.

Can I point you to the 5000 examples of aggy stanning for Bama with the same shit?  There’s a thread here.  That thread alone has dozens of examples.  Anyways, crack open a cold one.  TCU may keep you and this dogshit conference relevant.

Yeah inhereting a team stocked with Patterson-trained players had nothing to do with it.

I'll let you revisit TCU's recruiting rankings compared to UT's the past 4 years and draw your own conclusions.

I'm not saying Dykes would've had this year's Texas team in the playoffs. I'm saying he was a better choice than Sark by most objective metrics.

Am I the only Longhorn that does not mind TCU winning it. They have done what they needed. They can beat their chest but they did not beat the best team of all time to gain the same thing. The pain and false hope aggy would feel would be precious to me. I guess I am in the minority. Maybe I think we will get another one soon since joining the SEC will do what joining the BIG XII did for us as far as talent is concerned.

Recruiting wise this should be impossible.  It’s been written about for years, you have to be top 10-15 to make playoffs and top 5ish to win it all.  And that holds up 95% plus for playoffs and 100% for winning it all.  MSU and Cincy were only examples before TCU And they obviously didn’t win.

He is such a disingenuous fuck. He loves to piss Texas fans off. He rubs whatever salt he can find in whatever wounds he perceives.
I didn't mind it so much back the 1990s because we sucked and I figured he would be fair and heap praise when it was warranted. But no he went right through Mack's glory years still being a sarcastic asshole, he was never fair; just a professional troll.

Bohl’s probably is still pissed he didn’t get accepted to UT even back when almost everybody got it, lolz

I was there. He did. 50-43. Of course, he didn't have to trot out Swoopes and Buechele at QB and a bunch of young dudes at DB (who got torched).

We should have won that game, but had no passing game at all.

Emotionally I don't care.  Rationally, in my view, it don't make a shit.  All of these schools recruit Texas.  What is TCU NIL like?

He's been birthed to play the game. It's all he knows. He literally texts our other recruits and asks them what they're doing today to get better. It's just ingrained in him. His entire life he's learned from his dad, uncles, and grandfather how to play the game. I just don't see how he fails. The kid doesn't play video games, or do normal kid stuff. It's all football.

Applications to TCU are going to be through the roof this year. They’re going to rake in the donations as well. Good for them. TCU has made themselves into a solid school offering a true college experience with a good football team.

Not exactly.   14 transfers this year in key positions.    And Duggan always mentions the culture change Dykes instilled.

“Recruiting is not always about finding the bigger, fastest guys,” Dykes said. “Sometimes it’s about finding, especially from a transfer perspective, somebody who can come in and move the needle in a room.”

TCU brought in 14 total transfers this season, coming up big in positions of need. The fact that the transfers were coming in with a blank slate just like a new coaching staff helped too.

https://www.dallasnews.com/sports/tcu-horned-frogs/2022/12/27/how-tcu-sonny-dykes-used-the-transfer-portal-to-move-the-needle-toward-cfb-playoff/
