Peyton is so close to cracking the top 100. I think she will be top 100 if she wins tomorrow

Fairly certain that she is in the Top 100 using Live Rankings.

Losing in the final would still put her at about 95th to 97th.

Who is the last Longhorn, male or female, to win a real title?

Singles or doubles?

Glasspool for doubles in January this year

Probably Vladimíra Uhlířová for women's doubles

No clue about singles for either main tours- unless you count Jill Craybas (played at Texas for one year before transferring to Florida). Kevin Curren was winning titles in the 80s.

Also Lulu Sun is at a career high ranking 226. Should be borderline to get into most Grand Slam qualifying tournaments. Unfortunately she'll be out for several months after tearing ligaments at her last tournament.

On TC now, Lindsay just said she’s already up to #88. First defending NCAA champ to crack the top-100 in the following year since Gibbsy 10 years ago, & the fastest since Lisa Raymond in ‘92.

I had looked at the rankings and figured that if  Peyton lost in the final of a WTA250, she would get 125 points. But it turned out that she was awarded 180 points, which doesn’t make sense.

Perhaps she went through qualifying and got 30 points for that and then got 150 points for making it to the final. Not sure, but in general the breakdowns for each round have been half of the next round.

WTA 250 is not like ATP 250 (where the winner gets 250 points). WTA 250 winners get 280 points and runner ups get 180 points.

Dude on the other site ONLY posts when there’s any Iga slander, this is funny.

Awkward? She has the right to be anywhere on her side of tennis court. Plus, I think it's a good strategy

Not a soul said she didn’t have a right to do it. But athletes in all professional sports do awkward shit every goddamn day. It’s okay, buddy.

^^^ Lauren Davis bringing the thickness (for a professional athlete).

She reminds me of my 4’10” Argie girlfriend, but she’s thicker than my Novia. Still…

When the girl is short & thicc, but with a flat stomach, you can still easily move her around while avoiding bruising when ”intensity” picks up.

I am 100% behind Li’l Lauren Davis. 😍

Mayar Sherif is having the tournament of her life!

She’s onto the quarterfinals of a WTA 1000 event that actually has 7 rounds for lower level players, just like a Grand Slam. But doesn’t have some of the chaff that a full 128 player Grand Slam has.

It started with a walkover at one set a piece, but she has advanced to the 5th round in a 7 round tournaments after never getting passed the 2nd round. Sure, she has 1 title on the WTA tournament, but she will get almost as many or more points here and much more money.

I don’t normally pull for Russians, especially over the last 16 months, but I like Aslan Karatsev. I wouldn’t mind seeing him continue on.

No one has ever looked like would rather be anywhere instead of in front of the cameras,  collecting an Olympic medal more than Karatsev did when he lost the mixed doubles final in Tokyo to another Russian team and had to stand around for photos after receiving his silver medal. It was as uncomfortable for him as a “Lose Your Enthusiasm” scene.
