Joel Klatt completely ripped SC and LR.  Said they have one more season of a generational QB and unless they get at minimum basic defense, they're going to piss it away.  I don't see LR getting rid of Grinch or the S&C guy and as of now, I don't see many defensive dudes going there in the portal.  Their schedule next year is significantly tougher than this year, too.  They play at ND, at Oregon, Utah and UW at home and then the conference title game if they get there.  If their defense is still trash, 3-4 losses isn't out of the question.

LR already getting heat from the LA press.  You hate to see it:

Oh, on the contrary, in the wake of Tulane’s shocking 46-45 upset of USC in Monday’s Cotton Bowl, it’s clear what just happened.

The reeking stain in Lincoln Riley’s regime happened. The bane of the USC fan’s existence happened. The Trojans’ weekly embarrassment, monthly humiliation, and season-long disgrace happened.

The USC defense happened.

He has a quarterback who deserves a shot at a national championship. He has a fan base that deserves a return to sustained greatness. He needs to stop waxing about the success of their one-year turnaround and realize nobody is going to be happy unless he can finish the job by building a defense that can finish the game.

Until he does, there is no difference between Lincoln Riley and the passel of failed USC coaches that preceded him.

“There is a ton of great momentum in this program,” Riley claimed. “Today’s result, as sick as it is, does not change that. The reality is that we’re here and we’re not going anywhere.”

If he doesn’t fix the defense, he’s exactly right.

Caleb is obviously very gifted, but is he a truly “generational” talent? Hasn’t every Lincoln Riley QB (Baker Mayfield included) put up comparable numbers and won a Heisman…

Why does his QB “deserve” a shot at a national title?

Why does the USC fan base “deserve” sustained greatness?

Not directed at you, rather, the writer.

Might as well put this here.  LR's defensive players leaving and they're not even getting P5 offers.  USC seems to be similar at this point from a talent level.

Damn, being a grad transfer to Stanford from OU ain't a bad move.
