How are these "rules" enforced? Like the one where McCarthy agreed to some crazy low number allowed to recall him? Could the Dems make a similar deal? Or is it more of  a gentleman's agreement upon which they couldn't trust McCarthy to follow through with? If it is enforceable, they could gain a shit ton of leverage since they could always threaten to recall him and force this whole shit show over again at anytime.

It would go into the Rules of the House for the 118th Congress.

If they couldn't do anything last night I am not sure what they think they can do this afternoon.

Well, they're getting different toppings for the pizzas for one thing, so that should make a big difference...

They wouldn’t vote for Jeffries. That’s a nonstarter.

You get there by Republicans voting present or not voting. And I actually think it is possible, even if it only last a couple of weeks.

Can they vote to allow the members-elect to be sworn in prior to the election of the speaker? Just to keep things running?

Trump pays for sex like incels do.

Sometimes I picture Ben Shapiro, after all these years of the internet insulting his sexual prowess (except with regard to his own sister apparently), thumping his chest like the pasty Jewish version of Martin Lawrence in 'Boomerang' when Eddie Murphy says, "Please man, you are the 'no-pussy-getting-est' brother I know.  And Martin retorts, "Yo mutha-fucka, I gets mine!"  But you know, he sounds like Ben Shapiro so it's even funnier.  And creepier.

I know Viagra/Cialis works for men at Trump's age.  But do guys that big have to take more than one?  You'd think we'd get lucky and Trump would die during sex.  Is that's a real strong possibility on the ads if the man is older/fatter.

Nope. Nothing happens until after they elect a Speaker. They can vote on rules for choosing a speaker but nothing else (from what I understand).

GOP needs to stop fucking that goat and move forward.

McCarthy won’t last a single Mooch.

We will be using the term “a McCarthy” to mean Weeks or months of being “the guy” and then you end up without the job 😂

Unless those people switch parties.  A pitch could be made that they don't want their legacy to be tied to this shitheel party, and they'll have 2 years (and Dem money) to convince the voters to keep them in place with the new letter beside their name.

It would never happen, but the GQP head explosions that would result from a handful of traitors switching parties and giving the Dems control of the house would be fantastic. the ultimate FAFO. Can we get some of that sweet, sweet, Soros money in the mix here?

they are getting plenty of their own shit.

i'd prefer if the dems try and keep the smug to appropriate levels. which is still pretty fucking smug, in case you were wondering, but don't overplay the hand...

When you are considered an "intellectual" for today's GOP, people will listen to you all day long.

There are also "general perceptions" that: water is wet, the moon has craters, fire is hot, ice is cold, fingernails on a chalkboard is grating.  The reason that there are such "general perceptions" is that all of those things are TRUE.  Just like the undeniable fact that Repubs are indeed incompetent and foolish.  And honestly, among all the things that Repubs are, "incompetent and foolish" are the NICEST things you can say about them.

If you devoted the greatest intellects and computing power the world has ever seen to completing the task of "create a voice that unquestionably screams 'give me a wedgie!'", they still couldn't create a voice better than Ben's.  It's truly one of the most awful voices of any "prominent" human being I've ever heard.

And I have seen an episode of "The Nanny."

First of all Congresswoman, nobody likes a narc.  Don't rat out on national TV that the other side of the aisle is boozing it, laughing their asses off at you.  And never mind what's going on under that blanket on AOC's lap.  Just because she failed to press her vote last two times.  I'll be in my bunk.

Second, Ms. Cammack.  It's not right to insult a woman's size or clothing.  But you're not a woman, you're a monster.  So the next time you feel like eating enough Honduran food to feed 8 people...don't take the 8-top tablecloth and make it into a dress.  Disrespectful to the Honduras flag.

So why do they just keep voting over and over if they, presumably, know they don't have the votes?  How is he surprised?  Are people saying they will flip and vote for him and then not doing it when the time comes?
