Joe Biden 2023: The Dark Brandon Rises

Research indicates that 82% of 18-29 year old single men reached by phone at their mom’s house would like somebody to pick up a bag of cool ranch Doritos if they are already going to be at the store.

The only reason they even answered the phone is because the call automatically paused the porn video they were watching.

It’s true. And all that money is trickling down where when they die off?  To every Gen Xr on this board.  Will probably even be able to continue to afford those nuggies at these exorbitant prices.

A board full of people with solid portfolios bitching about the investor class and how the same co’s their invested in are killing it, will never not be funny.  Enjoy your XOM divs  while bitching about gas prices and the climate. Fuck outta here.

Some of us get jack shit from our mediocre folks and we don’t own oil stocks either.

Hmm. This last page has pointed out to me that I need to ask my financial adviser about investing in Senior Care stocks. Macabre, sure. But Fuck, I can't count on a functioning economy, reasonable capital controls, and a simple retirement fund and a healthy middle class to fuel my retirement. And as long as we're offering ancedotal evicdience, my mom inherited some money from her very succesful grandfather, and then remairred to a Shell engineer who saved well, invested well his entire life, and has retired with a 6 figure PENSION. They live well, but they're not in a million dollar home, they live in a nice community in Cypress. They don't travel much anymore due to age. I've run the math with him, and best case scenario if they DON'T ever end up in elder care, is that maybe, after splitting it 4 ways, we'd have enough money to pay for our son's college.

Not sure what this massive wealth transfer is, but I know that he has to be in the top 10% of succesful people in terms of lifetime income in America.

I haven't looked into investing in senior living, but my wife works in the industry.  As a consumer there is a massive difference in for profit and non-profit facilities - you want to be in non-profit for sure if you can afford it.  They actually spend money on space that can be enjoyed/adds to quality of life as opposed to extracting revenue - profit - out of every square foot.  On a few random occasions I've been able to tag along on tours and the difference is obvious.

She generally works with the non-profits, and they are expensive as hell.  That said, I'm sure there is a lot of money being made in the for profit category.

Good friend of mine's parents did boutique elder care for about 20 years.  They made very good money, they were exceedingly kind and compassionate to the residents.  IMPO they earned every penny.  The issues they dealt with were unreal.  Literally dealing with a half dozen or so people as they declined into death, some gracefully and others going into dementia.  Just brutal, not sure how people can do that job emotionally.

Totally agree - this summer I visited a relative who just turned 109.  It was tough to see what her life is like, but the staff members we met were amazing.  Shoot, they helped care for us during the time we were there not just the folks living there.

That said I was speaking more to the broader senior living category where assisted living, memory care, skilled nursing etc. are part of a full suite of services where you can live there for 20 years and progress through stages as needed..  It's all super expensive and some of the places my wife works with have 7 figure buy ins.  Insane.

My dad's daytime nurse during hospice care was amazing.  They became super close, and it was almost comical, because he was a quiet, aging white college professor, short and lean, and she was a young, tall heavyset black woman who was boisterous, funny, and totally charming.  He adored her, and vice versa.

After dad passed, we stopped by the nursing home to bring her a thank-you gift, where we found out she had been fired because she came in late to work one day.  There is no justice in this world.

A lot of it, true. Got a bit of that coming down the road myself.  But a lot of it are going to guys in new King ranch 250s, their ski boats, and newfound hobby of collecting timepieces.  Source, the last 10 neighbors and coworkers of mine who’s parents died, which allowed them immediate entry into 7 figure houses up the road a few months later.

Those guys are the ones that got their parents comfortable with understanding thick, foreign accents. That's where the value can be found.

I wonder if dotard cult members will try and run Biden off the highway again?  We all know their savior won't even be at this debate.

I kinda hope they try... just from them to witness how different the consequences would be this time.

It won't be a debate, because Dotard ain't showing up. He won't do a single debate.

Correct.  There are not going to be any debates.

We are done with presidential elections as we have traditionally known them.  And, if Dotard wins, we are done with presidential elections altogether.

I know they don’t understand paradoxes, hypocrisy, nor irony.   But even like just 5% of the stupids will at least pause a moment and silently think to themselves, “Wait, Trump is mentally tough and knows the best words.  Joe is senile and easily duped.  Why doesn’t Donald just show up and embarrass him like I know he can?  Seems like shooting fish in a barrel.  Oh wait.  Right, right.  4-D chess. Yep, that’s my guy Trump.  He knows all the moves even if I can’t see them…”

Except pretty much no one thinks that. The people who love Trump love him because he is a bellicose a-hole.
Specifically to the GIF above Trump would literally not shut up for a moment in his debates with Joe.  Him being exactly who he is, not 4d chess, just a loud mouth A-hole.

I'm going to regret this, but why is this attractive to people?  Especially in a "I'm going to vote for that man to lead the free world" type of way?

Because it will piss off liberals. And pissing off liberals is more important than any policy or crisis management could ever possibly be.

Yeah, this is it for the non-nazi contingent of the GOP. And they don't for one second take seriously the idea that Trump is an actual, serious threat to the world because they don't think he's a danger to them and fuck everyone else.

GenZ is awash in economic misinformation:

The viral $16 McDonald’s meal that may explain voter anger at Biden

https://wapo.st/3GgeaaP

TikTok abounds with misleading or inaccurate information about the economy. One video in September with 2.3 million views said there was a “SILENT DEPRESSION.” Another video from this summer with 2.1 million views claimed, incorrectly, “We have the lowest purchasing power we have ever had in American history,” and asserted that inflation-adjusted wages are lower than they were then. (Disposable income per capita is, in fact, more than five times larger than it was in 1930, adjusted for inflation.) A third video, with 1.8 million views, similarly falsely claimed, “We currently are making less than the height of the Great Depression.” TikTok and YouTube have dozens of videos of this kind, making similarly false claims.

TikTok is doing to Gen Z what Facebook did to boomers in 2016. Chinese or Russians, doesn't matter. Our gullibility knows no end.

We genuinely need some legislation around data collection and microtargetting users. It's absolutely insane how much we let private, for profit entities steal our data and monetize it

CA is on the tright track of teaching media literacy to their kids. But overall, as citizens we just lack a lot of critical thinking... or just having the ability to pause, reflect, and think about what we consume with any semblance of curiosity.

Hmm, I wonder who could possibly be behind this?  Certainly a Chinese spy app wouldn't lead our youngs astray?  The Rooskies I'm sure are on the up and up as well.  God fucking dammit.

It's literally a platform plank of the republican party to be opposed to critical thinking. It's no accident that our collective ability to discern bullshit has been reduced and diluted

It's come up a few times, but I think curiosity is really the key.  That usually implies an interest in what's going on and why.  A lot of people of #bothsides lack much interest.  And some have interest coupled with complete credulity, especially when what their being told fits their world view.

Combination of cognitive and confirmation biases.

It's concerning despite the data that most businesses and citizens don't feel positively about the economy. The admin can't solve biases and stupididity but they really need a plan/action to manage this.

5.2, beat projections by 0.3
Revisions to inflation were stable or revised downward (PCE)
Wages, personal disposable income, savings all revised upwards

"Why a good economy is bad for Joe Biden in 2024"
