Forty Niners for sure.

He would love to play for them, but I think they have figured out that you don't have to blow the budget on a high dollar qb to have a great team. The rest of the league needs to catch up.

Did they not trade several first round picks for a guy that has not played for two year? I don't think they are running according to plan.

Yes, the Niners have won 11 in a row but this isn't exactly a murderer's row is it?

  • Rams 5-12
  • Chargers 10-7, playoffs (first round)
  • Cardinals 4-13
  • Saints 7-10
  • Dolphins 9-8, playoffs (first round)
  • Buccaneers 8-9, playoffs (first round)
  • Seahawks 9-8, playoffs (first round)
  • Commanders 8-8-1
  • Raiders 6-11
  • Cardinals 4-13
  • Seahawks 9-8, playoffs (first round)

San Francisco has been very good the last 2.5 months but they played the weakest schedule in the entire league this season. In this winning streak, the Niners have faced four teams who made the playoffs (beat Seattle twice) and seven of the Niners' wins came against Seattle (3-0), the Rams (2-0) and Arizona (2-0) this season. They're 7-4 against the rest of the league. Dallas is pretty schizophrenic at the moment, though. I hope tonight's team makes the trip to SF, not last week's.

Who else can we get to do placekicking against San Francisco?

I would imagine every front office has a list of 5 kickers and punters not currently employed by an NFL team who could do a serviceable job in a pinch.

I promise you don't really want to see that list. But I can't see how you roll into next weekend with Maher after tonight. Bring somebody in to at least work out with the team and maybe sign him unless Maher is just nails during the week.

Maher definitely got a meeting with the Bobs in the morning.

I came in to the game tonight hoping to see Tom Brady lose, but by the end of the game I kind of felt sorry for him. He basically sacrificed his family to play this season, only to get beaten badly by the Cowboys in a playoff game when they were on the road and haven't won one of those for most of my life. That's a really crappy way to end a career as the GOAT. I kinda wish it had been closer and he had thrown a pick six to lose the game at the last minute. At least he would have gone out in style and I would feel a little bit better about the gloating.

Dicker was on it twice this season.

I’d cut Maher or at least have a back up next week. The niners ain’t the bucks.

You can't carry two PK's on the 53, though. At a minimum, you'd better pick somebody up to come in and kick with the team this week. Then make the call Friday on who to go with.

You can’t do it, or nobody in the history of the league has chose to carry 2 PKs in a game?   Forbidden or frowned upon?

I might be off on my numbers. What is the active roster number for NFL teams? 53? Or do you dress that many for each game, or less? I can't remember.

What I meant is nobody is going to suit up two placekickers for a game as those spots are too valuable to have a second kicker as those dudes don't usually get hurt. You *could* do it but no coach ever will, not with today's roster constraints. You could have a second kicker on the practice squad, I guess, but those spots are valuable too. A quick look at the current Cowboys roster, Maher is the only PK on the team -- active roster, reserve/taxi/practice squads included.

I’m saying that a playoff game after your kicker went 1/5 on extra points might be the one time in nfl history when a team chose to carry two kickers.

Dak was on fire tonight, but honestly he was pretty lucky that a lot of risky passes ended up in the right hands. That kind of playing worked out tonight, but against a better defense could easily turn the momentum against the Cowboys. I did like how they used his legs on multiple occasions to make plays. We need more of that in the playoffs.

It still won't happen. Either the Cowboys will like what they see from Maher in practice this week and roll with him or they sign somebody off the street this week to handle kicking duties. The Cowboys will not have two PK's active for the SF game.

Remember in 2009 when Jerry jones had 2 kickers on the roster? 1 for kickoffs and 1 for field goals. He actually did it

He isn't retiring yet. He will play with another team next year and give it another go for a season or two if they are good. He didnt throw away his marriage to just retire one season later. He got divorced because he probably told her that he still has the itch to play a few more seasons and she probably said fuck this Im out.

Yeah, that's right. He did try that for a season. David Buehler (???) was a KO specialist and the regular kicker didn't have a huge leg.

He’s done.

He's got another game to redeem himself.
He'll never get star money now.

But if he finishes on a good note then he can get another contract somewhere.

And give some BS excuse for the game tonight.

I’m prepared to be disappointed on Sunday.    Last nights game was fun to watch, but it was like Horns winning a game the last few years.   You just know the following week a real shit show was a possibility and sure enough we’ve had our share.

Sports psychology is fascinating.

I got the yips literally pitching in a rec-league softball championship game and to this day I can't consistently throw a softball strike. In a damn rec-league.

I can't imagine what it must be like to kick in a pro football game.

That’s how I got over the Vikings losing on Sunday in 3.5 seconds.

Cowboys have a much better shot at beating SF than MN ever had because of parsons.

Damn, guess I have to wait another week to talk shit to all the cowboy fans.

If you watched more than one Tampa game you knew the cowboys had a pretty damn good shot at winning. That Tampa offense is garbage and week 16 was an outlier. Dallas has a good D but not that good.

Has Brady's dirty as shit play on the overturned fumble been discussed yet?

Nope.  He should have been issued a 15 yard penalty and a warning.  Automatic red in a soccer match

I wanted the Vikings to win, but next to the Cowboys I had them as the next team to underwhelm in the first round matchups.

I never understood Minnesota's record this season, beyond the ass kicking from the Cowboys. Kirk Cousins sucks, how the fuck did they win 13 games? Their first round exit is about as predictable as it comes, aside the general thought that we'd lose to Tampa Bay based on the last month of the regular season.

Yep.  Minny was as big a paper tiger as there has been in forever.  Negative score differential with 13 wins is damn near incomprehensible.

Let’s rock and roll Cowboys! I think mistakes/poor clock management will be a huge factor in this game. It’s going to come down to who makes the fewer mistakes. Gonna roll with Eli and Peyton tonite mostly but flip back to Troy and Joe just for some seriousness…

Me at a Cowboys game in 2016! Let’s go Boys! They had a pretty good season that year so I’m hoping to bring them luck. Got on the same tshirt and they win when I wear it so hoping for the first playoff win on the road since 1992! I was in fucking highschool!!!!

You do know Maher has been on 14 teams in his career, and this is his second tour with Dallas, right? He has always been streaky. Solid for a while, great distance, and then the yips. It’s all in his head.

Man this joke would have landed better if I had the patience to wait and see if a fourth miss actually happened.  Alas, I wasn't a true believer.

What's that photo in reference to?
