1) You have to look up commonly used slang in the Urban Dictionary

2) Music that you listened to as a kid is now classic or worse, it's on the elevator Muzak.

3)  You're watching golf.

4) You have no idea what the song or singer is on the commercial.

5) You have ever worn a pocket protector.

No on #5, but pretty much all of that other shit.

The pocket protector is a baseline. Like the Bog of Eternal Stench once it is upon you there's no way to escape it.

I think of the pocket protector nowadays as a piece of a costume, eg let's dress up like NASA Engineers during the Mercury years. Anybody worn one since sliderules left the building?

When my kids told me Van Halen is old music.

Eddie will fucking wipe his ass with any of your fru-fru fuckers these days.

But dad, he's dead, and David Lee Roth sucks.

For me, it really hits home when I'm confused by the musical guests on SNL.

I know one band from the top line of music festivals and maybe thee others from the other ten lines.

Problem with this question is that it implies I was ever cool.

Yep.
I never tried to be cool back in the day. In fact made a point of hanging out with the scrubs.

Forgive me Sensei.

My uncle taught me how to ride a minibike, lean into a 12-gauge shotgun, and use a sliderule. Still got 2 outta 3 I guess.

I never was cool, so no such epiphany for me.

Same here. Nowadays young people seem happy to see me, but I think it's less "being cool" than "being interesting zoo animal."

I always felt cool was a state of mind. People who are confident in what they are, no matter what they are, seemed to fly above it all.

With the advent of Guardians of the Galaxy, that's not the case.  But yeah, Soarin' is badass.

I've long thought that a 25-30 minute version with a full bar right before you board would be the shit.

Van Halen had more talent than every autotuned millennial and Gen Z "musician" combined.

I watch Aerial America anytime it’s on

It’s like Sports Center with SVP for me- good sleeping show. I don’t mean that as a criticism to either show. The speech cadence of both are relaxing and good background noise.

The nicest, softest-spoken guy in our high school was also the stud linebacker/ wrestler.  Homecoming king, all that. He too made it a point to hang out with the scrubs. Saw him throw a guy up against a locker for picking on a nerdy kid.

I love Aerial America.  Like @Kennythetiger jut said, it's the perfect napping show and I mean that in the best way possible.  I'm also kind of a dork when it comes to finding places I've been when they show them.

Most of the popular kids at my school were racist losers.  Almost all of them still live in the town, have gotten divorced and aren’t doing well financially.   Needs rule

They could show a few less Air Disasters, but otherwise almost perfect channel for my aging, uncool self. I’ve seen every Aerial America at least five times. The Mighty Trains and Mighty Ships series are my current favorites of their newer stuff.

You're right about the air disasters.  Outside of  the most famous crashes, it doesn't really interest me that much.  I think it was NatGeo that used to have a show called "Seconds from Disaster" that was awesome.
