Texas' non-corporate NIL stack for the 2024 season was just less than $25M. Corporate was trending towards 8 figures.

Texas is not middle class on this stuff. Neither is OSU, Oregon, or Michigan. Don't expect that to change.

If someone brings a knife, [TEXAS] will bring a gun. If someone puts one of [OURS] in the hospital, [WE] will put everyone else in the morgue. That's both the Chicago way and today's NIL landscape.

There is no true terrain for Tech to take and hold in this game that Knight hasn't already taken. You can't move Lubbock and make it more desirable. You can't improve on the surroundings and non-sports experiences. You can't brag on academics or offer branding value. The only thing they can offer is a lot of money. That works at times, but if it worked a ton, their team would look a hell of a lot better than it does. They do not remind me of Marlo Stanfield at all. They're Brother Mouzone. Hired muscle that can be a pain in someone's ass, but a side player never reaching the big stage.

ATM is Ziggy. Come on.

I guess I wish I were familiar with The Wire so I could appreciate how funny this is. It feels very funny.

Brother Mouzone is actually a bad comp for Tech. That dude was always reading and quoting smart stuff. That ain’t Tech.

Tech is more like Nick Sobotka, who wants to be a player and thinks he is smarter than he is. He wants a seat at the big boy table, but doesn’t have the skills to be a big player. He gets a little money, buys a pickup and thinks he is king shit. But ultimately isn’t cut out for the game.

It’s pretty funny as a reference to this famous loser as well

According to 247Sports sources, a few schools to consider for Lewis are Maryland, Villanova, Georgetown, St. John's, Texas and Indiana.

Lastly, for Texas, they are still in the hunt to deepen their backcourt and just hired Kenya Hunter with DMV ties and recruited Lewis during his first recruitment.

I hope we can land Devin Haid. That is the kind of player I like to get in the portal.  Proven all-conference players who still have multiple years left to play for Texas.

He was 2nd team All-NorthEast conference as a freshman. He is already a great FT shooter, and I bet he makes good gains in his 3P% over the next couple of years.  This guy plus Traore would be awesome.

Looks like he's played 3 seasons already. JUCO, ND College, Central Connecticut State. I don't think the JUCO year counts though.

I have an aunt who lived in White Plains when my family visited her family back when I was 12, so this hits close to home.

And my mother-in-law used to live there before coming to Austin. Destiny.

Everything I see has him at 6'7 - 6'8, unless he suddenly grew 2 inches. He seems more like a multi year project and someone who would get 15 mpg max for us next year. Get him if we can, but I would much rather get some guard depth.

Texas hoops intel: Longhorns in pursuit of former Duke signee

Quote

Duke lost a commitment from five-star small forward Shelton Henderson on Thursday. The Bellaire product was released from his letter of intent after committing signing in November.

Common logic would tell you the 6-foot-6, 220-pounder is going to follow his former primary recruiter from Duke, Jai Lucas, to Miami, where the former UT player and assistant is now head coach.

And while that's certainly a strong possibility, Texas is going to have a say.

"Don't think this is a layup to Miami," one source told Horns247. "Texas and two others have come on strong."

The Longhorns hosted Henderson for an official visit last fall under Rodney Terry. He also visited Texas Tech and Louisville.

Henderson is ranked the No. 2 small forward and the No. 14 overall player in the country, per 247Sports.

Here's his player eval, via 247Sports' Adam Finkelstein:

Henderson is one of the most physically imposing players in the country, especially on the perimeter. He has terrific wing size at right around 6-foot-6. He's long and powerful with an absolutely chiseled frame from head-to-toe, and a better than 6-foot-10 wingspan. His hands are big and he's also a high-level athlete.

He plays an attacking style, getting downhill, absorbing contact on his way to the rim, and maintaining the line of his drive through congestion. He's so physically imposing that he doesn't always get enough credit for his feel for the game. The game appears to have really slowed down for him in the last year as he's picking his spots more efficiently and showing some real passing ability on both ends of the floor.

Henderson has naturally soft hands, but his skill-set is a work in progress. He's not a natural shooter, but his touch is adequate and his high release more fluid within the last year. He only made 21% of his attempted threes and 61% of his free-throws during EYBL play, but looks increasingly capable of being able to make open, rhythm threes in time. Similarly, he has a solid left hand as a handler and finisher, but isn't super flexible in his hips and could further develop his handle and finishing craft when he can't rely on strictly his physical tools.

Henderson can really change the game on the defensive end of the floor where his length, physicality, and motor are all major assets. He's extremely versatile, guards bigger players with ease, and is often able to contain smaller guards as well. He gets his hands on a lot of balls and is a very good perimeter rebounder.

Overall, he has an overlap of extreme physical gifts, feel for the game, intangibles, and two-way versatility that is unique in this class, and there's still plenty of upside left to discover as he continues to develop and polish his skill-set.

Adam Finkelstein
Director of Scouting

---
Adams is a skilled and smooth guard with good positional size at 6-foot-5 and an instinctive feel for the game. He’s a multi-dimensional scoring threat who can make threes and mid-range pull-ups in a variety of different ways.

He’s coming off an EYBL season in which he averaged 15 points per game on 40% shooting from the floor, 32% from behind the arc, and 59% from the free-throw line, but is widely considered to be a better shooter than that. As a junior in EYBL Scholastic play, he also averaged 15 points per game, but did it on 43% shooting from the floor and 41% from behind the arc. The long-range shooting projects as the first domino in his individual offense at the next level. He has good touch, a fairly compact and very repeatable release, both as a spot-up threat, and with flashes of movement shooting as well.

Adams can also make reads with the ball, so he can come off screens and get to his mid-range game if that’s how the defense is playing him. Combine that with his reliability as a passer and he has the type of floor game that should fit into offensive structure nicely at the next level.

Where there is untapped potential is in his frame and the amount of sheer force he plays with. He’s still growing into his body a bit and doesn’t always yet have the same amount of athletic burst as other top prospects. Once that frame clicks though, it could unlock new aspects of his attack, help him play through contact more consistently, and make him more efficient in the lane. Right now, he can be fluid with the ball in the open floor, but doesn’t pressure the rim or finish as well in a half-court game.

Defensively, the added physicality can only help as well. His size and intellect are both assets, while he also has very good hands and a high steal rate, but would only add versatility with more power and explosiveness.

Overall, Adams is a skilled, smooth, smart, has good size, and his best basketball still in front of him as he continues to make strides physically.
