I think having a pair of athletic 7footers in Magoon Gwath and Bodo Bodo on the same team would be fun.  Plus, we would probably get a few years out of them.

Has to be better than the twat we ran out a C the last two years. He was softer than soft serve.

No argument.  But, he already had a degree from UVA.  Why shouldn’t he come to Texas for free post grad if someone was dumb enuf to offer it?

Sure, definitely not the kids fault for accepting a scholarship to get a masters at Texas.

I will say it here and again, I am sure, elsewhere.

THE TRANSFER PORTAL IS THE DEMISE OF THE “MADNESS” OF MARCH.

We have 4 #1s in the Final Four.

The #1s had to beat 3 #2s and a #3 to advance.

All of the top teams in Boys AND Girls basketball are littered with transfers.

I think that we are witnessing the end of the Madness and don’t care because we are basically a “Have”. But it was the “Have Nots” that made the tournament crazy and fun.

That’s pretty much over.

I’m not too much older than you.

I don’t mind change. I do get bummed when changes make things worse rather than different or better.

People don’t fill out NBA playoffs for a reason… those playoffs don’t deviate much from the seedings. And in a 7 game series, unless the refs have a betting interest in the outcome/despise a team owner, the better team will win.

The unpredictability of the outcomes made the tournament pure madness.

The madness that occurs during the NBA Playoffs is is most likely go to be caused by boredom.

I will still watch, if I’m living in the States, but I feel that it won’t be as entertaining as before. The tournament’s “Cinderella” (Arkansas) was #16 in the preseason poll.

That’s pretty pitiful.

The 2008 Final Four was all #1s as well. Damn Transfer Portal opened early.

You are being incredibly unfair asking for, at a minimum, a 2nd data point to establish the trend line.  2025 is the trend!

I dunno... the EE was 3,2,2,2,1,1,1,1. And the 3 seed was #9 in Ken pom. Never seen a chalkier tournament in my life

The graduation of the COVID seniors will help a lot. Too many 22-23 year olds playing against 18-19 year olds. The portal will still keep the talent relatively near the top, but there’s a lot of guys who should be NBA/G-league/overseas rookies who are playing in their 4th/5th/6th tournament

Last time the four 1 seeds all made it in was in 2008.  San Antonio

Yeah that was what I was replying to, the only 2 seed in the EE that year was Texas (it was 10,3,3,2,1,1,1,1), and we got ASS BLASTED by Cal's Memphis squad. Fun memories...

That was the game that they had like 40 free throws to our 10 or something. I was there. Memphis fans are horrible.

That entire Memphis just made us look like middle schoolers. It was embarrassing. Derrick Rose was literally unstoppable.

I know that players can be found anywhere but not sure scouring UNC-w and southern Illinois and the like is the way.

Are you sure?

Clayton Jr was at Iona

Will Richard was at Belmont

Denver Jones FIU

Chaney Johnson was at a D2 school

Lots of names here that aren’t from big name schools: https://www.cbssports.com/college-basketball/news/transfers-have-accounted-for-53-of-the-points-in-the-2025-ncaa-tournament-these-sweet-16-teams-have-the-most/amp/

Add SEC Newcomer of the Year and Elite Eight participant Chaz Lanier (North Florida) to that list.

Was mostly going with F4 teams but yeah. Ton of transfers from mid majors and low majors thrive at the P4

Also, it's not like Miller is walking into a stacked roster.

Next year might be a "transition" year - better than RT did this year, but not a Sweet 16 or Elite 8 roster right off the bat, depending on who we get in the portal.

Nah dude Day, Cal, Pope, Young were all first year at stint coaches and they made the SS, I think that is a good goal thanks to the portal.

Charlie Villanueva is reincarnated?

When Beard took the Texas job his entire roster was Brock Cunningham.

2 years later he had built a team so stacked and well coached they dragged RT's ass to an elite 8.

If Miller is the real deal he will have this built to quality quickly.

No doubt. I could see a comparable first year results to Beard’s first year and then a much much much better roster in year 2
