2023 Thread of Racism in America

Horn Under a Bad Sign

Recommended Posts

I appreciate that it’s a fairly slow news day and he’s gotten Ole Miss, Plano, and Realtors all trending at different times.  A few people have tried to claim that’s not who he really is, but he felt comfortable enough making money sounds and gestures at a Black womanly with hundreds of people surrounding him, and dozens of phones out and recording.  I’d say that in this instance, that’s exactly who he is.

It’s like the Eddie Murphy “Buckwheat was shot” SNL sketch where they are asking people who knew the guy “what was he like? Oh he was very nice, very polite.  Do you think he shot Buckwheat? Oh yes, it’s all he ever talked about.”

Nobody spontaneously starts acting like a monkey towards a Black person in full view of the world.  That’s some world -class animosity directed towards a person they probably don’t even know.  And who the fuck would act like a monkey towards any person they hate, regardless of race?  Dude was straight up letting his inner asshole show.

https://www.cnn.com/2024/05/04/us/mississippi-campus-protest-gaza-black-student/index.html

Quote

The University of Mississippi has opened a student conduct investigation after actions of “hostility and racist overtones” were portrayed during a demonstration on campus.

Quote

While there are multiple videos circulating online showing the protest at varying times, one video in particular shows a group of mostly young white men in the counterprotest yelling at a Black woman, at least one counterprotester is seen on video making what appears to be monkey gestures at the woman, although CNN has not confirmed that is the case, as she records the group on her phone.

Really CNN?  You’ve been going to shit for a while now, but you can’t confirm somebody acting like a monkey on video is in fact acting like a monkey?

Quote

A letter from Chancellor Glenn F. Boyce says university officials are “aware that some statements made were offensive, hurtful and unacceptable, including actions that conveyed hostility and racist overtones” and that at least one student conduct investigation has been opened.

The Chancellor noted that the university is determining if any additional investigations are necessary

I’m sure you can depend on Ole Miss to do the right thing when it comes to white racial misconduct.

All decisions start with the question “How will this affect donations from rich alumni?” followed by “How will this affect recruiting for the football team?”

The rich alumni are troubled by the child not knowing how to imply that someone is a monkey by using cute innuendo among friends.

The skill position players already made the calculation of this guy being in the stands while they earn their NIL check.

If Ole Miss puts some Heritage not Hate community service and a semester suspension on the little drunk, expect business as usual. If the Frat rebrands itself The Monkey Hooters and attracts every Figurelli in the lower 48, then maybe it matters long-term.

Kicked out of his frat, and you know the other frats and his fellow frat rats won’t support him.
Happened faster than I thought.  He might just get booted out of school.

You’re insane. You’ve just seen literally the only consequence he will face. He is going to come out of this AHEAD, not behind.

On one hand, fuck him. While it's not likely, I do hope he's able to reflect on his mistakes and start a path of not being an asshole. But again, it's unlikely, so I'll just wish for minimal damage from him and his family moving forward.

Lots of RWNJ’s supporting him on Twitter.  He’s not likely to do a lot of serious reflection.  He’ll fit right in with the DFW realtor crowd.

Say what you will about the Ole Miss administration not shaking the fuck out of the tree. But I’ve seen them go scorched earth on the racial shit. Not only when I was there, but since I left. This kid is fucked, and rightfully so. I just wish the rest of those fucktards were too.

This guy obviously was not aware that Chief Justice Roberts declared this kind of stuff no longer happens.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/white-dad-stops-daughter-shaking-210553499.html

A white dad rushed the stage and pushed the Black superintendent out of the way so he couldn’t shake his daughter’s hand during her high school graduation yelling ‘I don’t want her touching him.’

The shocking incident took place Friday at Baraboo High School in Wisconsin - the same school that drew national headlines in 2018 when a photo emergeddepicting several current and former students doing the Nazi salute.

Graduation footage from last week shows the man, whose identity has not been reported to protect his daughter, coming onto the stage as his daughter shook school officials’ hands.

As she approached Superintendent Rainey Briggs, who is Black and was hired in 2021, the man jumped on stage and grabbed the superintendent by his arm and dragged him away from his daughter.

That’s my daughter,” the man says, according to footage of the ceremony. “You better get up off me man,” Briggs can be heard saying as the two went off camera.

The grace with which he handles the awkward situation is only overshadowed by despite him giving her a half-dozen verbal and body language cues that she's dead wrong, she doesn't change her fucking beat at all.  I don't know that she's racist, not my place to say.  But he clearly gives her some outs and some clues, but she just keeps fucking going.  All racists are dipshits.  But sometimes people are just dipshits without being racist.  Take me, for instance.

Doesn’t the FBI agree with that dude’s boss, and say alt-right white nationalists are the nation’s biggest domestic threat? Head in the sand is not the posture a bank needs from their security people.

Dude is a whiny bitch.  Even if there was some truth to some core part of it in the beginning he couldn't stop - just making stuff up.  "They even gave me a shitty parking space."  I have regretted hiring more than one person like this, and while it's a stretch to say I enjoyed firing anyone this sort of thing gets it in the ballpark.

Chris Smith says Ally Financial ignored his 20 years' experience in security and intelligence work and gave the job he wanted to an ex-Walmart employee because she was a woman.

Smith, a former Marine and Army intelligence officer who served in Iraq and Afghanistan and has two decades of experience in security, applied for three roles in Ally's newly-created 'threat division' unit in 2023.

He was offered and accepted the lowest-paying role as a security analyst, on about $75,000 a year.

Bellamy said the bank's gravest security threats were 'white supremacists, anti-DEI groups, and anti-woke groups.'

When Smith disagreed, the boss 'took particular umbrage at a white male questioning his views,' it is claimed.

Bellamy and Stuckey 'isolated Smith from other Ally employees, refused to credit him for his work product, and imposed substantial obstacles on his ability to perform his job duties, harming his performance,' the papers say.

Smith quit on September 18 and has since struggled to get paying work.

Let me translate

Former Marine with zero experience in security analysis (idiot thinks security role in military equals financial and/or IT security analyst) is gifted an entry level job. In a super smart move, employee disagrees with boss about work objectives. Probably in front of everyone. Dude quits because no one likes him. Apparently all his 20 years of security experience can’t find him a job. Weird

Thirty years ago, this guy would have been able to walk right into the job he thinks he’s entitled to, because there would not have been much competition from non dominant culture candidates with corporate Intel experience and Masters degrees

Registration table, "Uh, we have one on eliminating homosexuality and another on women knowing their roles in society."

Me, "Okay, well---I'm gonna go up to my room, check out the mini-bar and take up drinking again."

His military experience doesn't tell us much even though it's presented as all the proof you need that this guy is an ideal person for anything. It's clearly a tragedy of affirmative action.

For me, affirmative action is weak sauce. It doesn't go far enough. I maintain that there should be a minimum of a ten year reprieve from white men in government above any position higher than supervisor. I'd do it in the private sector as well. Let's undergo the plusses and minuses of having women and persons of color run things for a while.

I'm not kidding. I don't vote for white men if I can avoid it.

TV news should address racism in the same they should address the anti-republic nature of the GOP.

They may report a story like this and get the usual panel of mostly black people to discuss how this just might be racism. One of the panelists may dare to allude to the political plutonium that is CRT. Then, the panel goes away so another panel can talk about the important aspect of the Gaza slaughter or "climate change:" how will this affect the presidential race.

They will not start from the fact of racism or the fact of the threat to the republic posed by MAGA. They keep this in the sphere of opinion because that's the template. They can't bring themselves to change what they call what is a climate emergency headed for climate cataclysm. "There's still time." No, there's really not. Your sponsors are automobile companies showing SUVs roaring across the desert. Yee-haw!

As the thread proves over and over, we got a white man problem.
