Buddy of mine is in this band.  They all do this full time and actually have people that follow them around on their tours.  Based in Atlanta, but play all along the Atlantic coast.   They make a TON of money doing private parties.  One company paid for them to play a party in Costa Rica recently.    A few times a year, they do these huge revival shows and have the original singers play with them.  People like Walter Egan, Nick Gilder,  Peter Becket, Jeff Carlise, etc.

Just saw them in Denver a few weeks ago. They were a blast, and there was so much hot MILF ass in the room it was ridiculous.

watched the documentary yesterday. never would have considered steely dan yacht rock (and still don't). but i think that's mainly because i like steely dan and consider most of the other bands in the doc to be...not good. by the time they got to the de la soul stuff i was bored, but it was mostly entertaining.

Watched it last night.  I agree on Steely Dan, but I understand why they got lumped in, with all the session musicians ultimately being yacht rockers.  But I disagree on the other bands being "not good."  They all are a stone groove my man.

Steely Dan is the fuckin shit and I've always loved them. Don't care for the yacht rock label they got pinned with.

On a related note, for anyone who loves the vibe of Steely Dan you must do yourself a favor and listen to Destroyer's 2011 masterpiece Kaputt.

That's one of my favorite albums of the 21st Century. I will always cherish it.

I thought the documentary was great. And all those songs remind me of the radio in the car while my mother was driving me to karate practice.
